So I started reading a manga called Slow Motion wo Mou Ichido.

It's basically, japanese 80's nostalgia - the manga.

The story centers around a popular guy in high school who has a secret love for old 80's songs and idols, and a girl who he discovers shares the same hobby.

It's a pretty comfy and sweet romance so far, though I'm still on chapter 14, and it's tagged as drama so I'm expecting something major to happen soon.

The main thing I want to note is that, it sorta introduced me to a lot of old japanese songs.







And they're pretty good!

Nope. These are all the heroines in series currently running in WSJ. So no characters from completed series. (The floating ghost is Yuuna from Yuuragi-sou no Yuuna-san)

The artist did another one like this a few years back. Here you can see the main girls from Nisekoi, Beelzebub, Naruto, and Assassination Classroom, since they were still ongoing (And there might be other girls from completed seires that I don't recognize)

Holy shit... wow... that latest Jitsu wa chapter...

I think this is the first time I LEGIT teared up when reading manga...

I know people like to say that as an exaggeration, but I am being totally serious, my eyes were definitely misting up as I read it. I was actually surprised at myself over how emotional I got. >_>

I think I just got overwhelmed at the culmination of all those years of faithfully reading the series, and seeing how it all ended in a big climactic extravagant scene. I am definitely gonna miss this when it finally ends.

Damn, not even Clannad or Angel Beats or whatever else got me to cry, but this manga pulled it off! And it's not even a serious drama or anything, it's a freaking comedy manga!

Okay, so is it just me or is the way the girl is drawn in this picture strangely captivating?



It's almost a mix of western and japanese drawing styles.

Something in the way her eyes are drawn, and the smile, plus the positioning of her head, that is somehow, to me at least, perfectly arranged.

I guess I should temper that statement by saying that if what happened to those kids happened to adults it probably wouldn't feel as horrible as it is.

I mean one of the characters, a 13 year old girl, literally gets bits surgically removed from them until only their vital organs and brain remain, and then gets summarily squished into a handbag sized container to be used as fuel for a demented scientist, who -surprise surprise- was also her father who raised her up in a "loving" and "kind" way only to be revealed that he had been planning to do that the entire time.

If that happened to say, someone in their 20s, or even an older teenager, I probably wouldn't have felt half as bad when I read it.

The mangaka is a twisted demented genius at drawing adorable children, with their big hope-filled eyes, and then dropping them into absolutely horrific situations and you're left watching despair and agony enter their hearts and break their soul.

You know when I read Promised Neverland, I thought that was the top example of a manga about torturing and the suffering of little children.

BOY WAS I WRONG.

Holy hell, Made in Abyss gives Berserk a run for it's money on how fucked up the situations the characters can get themselves into. What's even worse is that it's happening to LITERAL CHILDREN.

I think this is the first time I found myself wanting to take a break from reading a manga to read another series that's full of fluff and vanilla just so I wouldn't get horribly depressed while reading the first one.

If you guys are a fan of Made in Abyss, you should definitely try playing the Etrian Odyssey series.

It's basically that in game form. Complete with exploring a dangerous labyrinth, gruesome and deadly monsters, and cute adventurer lolis!

Plus, EO5 comes out on the 17th! It's one of my most anticipated games of the year!

Welp, here we go.

It's the final volume of Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa. Only 8 more chapters until the end.

And GODDAMN what an opening chapter for the volume! Kuromine Asahi really is a master class on how to make a truly endearing and badass rom/com lead. Also, most manga usually END with a proposal scene but here, we get that AND more chapters for some maximum closure.

I'm ready for the end boys. Let's go!

Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer, but Madhouse is notorious for not doing second seasons for their anime.

What's really sad about the news is that the director is gonna change.

Which inevitably means the whole style and aesthetic is gonna change as well.

Of course, we still don't know if it'll be good or bad, so we'll just have to wait and see...

At least the director, Chikara Sakurai, is somewhat knowledgeable about shounen/ over the top fights.

Do note that since you didn't actually "catch" or "get" the previous two starters, they won't show up in your pokedex. Their evolutions however will. So all you need to do to get those is to breed them with a ditto and hatch them from an egg to fully register them.

I haven't seen the episodes past the tournament (waiting for the dub) but where did they use fillers? From what I can tell from reading the episode descriptions, the anime pretty much follows the manga 1 to 1.

Is that Assassination Classroom any good?

The manga is one of the best series JUMP has had in a long time.

The main reason is that it ended at the right point and wasn't plagued by horrible padding and dragging on for too long that other JUMP series usually do.

Another point is that it establishes a distinct and clear goal right from the start, and every arc builds upon each other in order to reach that goal. So you get a clear sense of progression as you read it.

Thirdly, the characters are all memorable and distinct. Unlike say, Bleach, where every arc introduces upwards of 20 new characters that either get killed or forgotten every time; it focuses on one classroom's students and their interactions, so each character gets a "moment to shine" and fleshes them out as unique indiviudals.

And lastly, it's just unique! Where else can you find a manga about a moon-destroying tentacle monster crossed with GTO, training up a class of high-schoolers as assassins in order to eventually kill him?

You should definitely check it out.

The manga Ninja Shinobu-chan no Junjou just ended and all I can say is...

D'AWWWW

What a sweet way to end a lighthearted rom/com about the fluff filled days of a normal high school girl (who's totally NOT a ninja by the way!). I would have liked to see some more development of their relationship, and even the side characters were endearing enough to make me want to see more of their lives; but all in all, I'm happy with the way it ended.

What a great first work by the mangaka! Lots of these short first work stories usually end up mediocre or get axed. I'm glad this one had a fairly good reception and had a good ending. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of their work.

If you've read Bonnouji, Midori No Hibi, Hadi Girl, or just want to read something light and fluffy without any unnecessary drama, you should check it out.

It's got 30 chapters with an average of 25 pages per chapter so it's relatively short.

To those who don't know, Dungeon Meshi is basically Dungeons and Dragons: Cookbook edition. Where the main party travel the dungeon and sample all of the different monsters.
