...Why is kneeling taken as a sign of disrespect in the first place? To me it's always been a sign of respect. People didn't kneel before kings and **** to show their disrespect! This has always bugged me about the discussion. From the very beginning it never struck me as disrespect at all, the gesture is just an alternate showing of respect to me.

it's all about context. in this case standing = showing respect, so kinda doing the opposite = disrespect.

Bubblemath - Destiny Repeats Itself

ok, so i was completely unfamiliar with the last four artists mycro picked but bubblemath i knew - i've checked them out because mycro picked them in a "recommend me two albums" topic. i can certainly see why he would choose this band in a "gun to your head" situation since this music is obviously incredibly "mycro." but unlike, say, that louis cole song from a few weeks ago, it's incredibly "mycro" in a way i adore too! i love this kind of vocal jazz fusion (if that's a thing) and this an amazing example of it. love everything about it - the melodies, the instrumentation, the playing (awesome drummer). almost certainly going to vote for mycro for the third time in a row! again, this wasn't as revelatory as mycro's last two picks for me since i was already familiar with this band, but i love it just as much as the last two picks.

jcgamer107 posted...

ben folds five is a band i discovered via board 8 years and years ago. while i've always liked them - i like their songwriting as well as their piano focused sound - i don't remember listening to a song by them that was this good! also don't remember them being this old-school, actually - this sounds like the beatles meets crosby, stills & nash (with some ELO thrown in). but yeah, great song. would probably vote for this (well, probably - it's a really close call with monopoly) if it wasn't for that meddling mycro.

Part of me thinks Lasa just projects meaning onto posts a lot of time given his interp of Foolmo's posts as well as how he treats pretty much every post Sephg makes, even the fairly mundane ones.

or maybe i just understand foolmo better than you do because i talk to him way more often? i frequently interact with him in the freedom topic and have done so for years. don't think i've ever seen you there.

also not sure what the sephy thing is about - there's plenty of times when i talk to him normally (when he brings up hip hop music or redlettermedia, for instance). i only attack him when he says stuff like "everyone who disagrees with me has asperger."
