I am a little numb right now kinda? I am not freaking out or anything at this point, especially since we don't know if it has spread or not. I am hopeful since he is only 37 and in relative good health. Don't know how bad or if he had symptoms before-hand so maybe we are catching it early? Never had a family member fight cancer... fuck cancer --- |

| Jeff AKA Snoopy 11/02/17 1:39:57 AM #1 | I think I have an inherent problem with 3D "collec-a-thon" platform games. I don't like DK64, Mario 64, Banjo, or Mario Sunshine all that much. I just don't feel like you are really accomplishing anything. Oh, you got another Star? Fantastic work, only 117 more to go! There was something far more satisfying about passing a level/course/board in Mario 3/Mario World/Sonic 1-3, at least to me. The reward was continuing the game, seeing an entirely different level. The reward was beating the game, not collecting another kajigger to add to the pile. That's not to say I hate Mario Odyssey. The fact that I like it as much as I do is a testament to how well the game plays, and how nice it is to control Mario. But, that satisfaction I get from "beating a level" is so much more rewarding than collecting another moon. Anyone else feel this way about 3D platformers? --- |

| Jeff AKA Snoopy 11/01/17 10:45:36 PM #1 | I get it. I have been called a racist by people before for simply being white. And I took offense to it and really felt genuinely hated against. I felt as if I was targeted by racism, and I didn't want to hear about it at all anymore. And then I was actually taught about how I have benefited FROM racism. I am not personally a racist or a bigot, but for a long time I was very VERY power blind/colour blind. While I personally did not have the ability to hold ANYONE back based on their race, creed, gender, political views etc. at the time, I also was not really understanding what the bigger problem was. I have been the beneficiary of being a cisgender white male. It has nothing to do with me and I have personally done nothing wrong, but to deny that this exists is ignorant and problematic. It is like starting a race and not realizing a bunch of people are starting the race far behind you. I've noticed this a lot on CE too, where people are power blind. They don't realize the inherent biases that work in favor of one group over the others. They attack affirmative action plans and concentrated efforts to help those who have started the race behind "us" as racist against them. I don't expect everyone to have the ability to change the game in a significant way. I don't suspect everyone who is white cisgender male to have a "leg up" on lots of other people in general. Lots of the majority are struggling with their own issues. All I ever ask of anyone is to not be power blind. Acknowledge the statistical facts and figures and don't attack people who are trying to make the rat race a more fair race. Don't say that racism doesn't exist or that "race" is only something that liberals are concerned with. Meritocracy does not exist when certain groups of people have been given inherent advantages due to those in power having instilled racist, bigoted, and sexist ideals into modern society for generations. Thank you for your time in reading this. While I've been on Gamefaqs for longer than some of you have been alive, I'm a relatively new entry into the CEmen, and this was just something I wanted to speak about to let people label me as they will. I suspect many of you will label me as a weak lib fuck or something like that. I'm Canadian, BTW, if you want to label me as a Poutine-Eater as well. :) --- |

I think the extremes that happen are due to our society not being accepting of gender fluidity as opposed to being BECAUSE of it. If sex and gender were not so closely linked together in our society, many people would not feel the need to physically reflect the sex of the gender they identify with. It's a complex situation, I just wanted to hear your point of view on the matter. Seems to me you're more about the body change being potentially a huge negative, and I respect that. --- |

I don't want that responsibility, I don't want to have to live my life for another person, I don't want the emotional, financial, and physical strain it takes on the body. I get it. Everyone I know who has kids says it was the best thing they ever did, etc. etc. I get it, I just don't want a baby. Later on when finances are more stable, I might adopt. My mother was adopted, many children out there need a good home, especially those older than 5. I can provide that, if and when I feel able. My mother and my older sister basically say they feel like I'm taking something away from THEM because I don't want to have a baby. They get that it's my decision in the end, and they respect it... but they almost rebuke me about it. Oh you'll change your mind, oh you just don't get it, we need more grandkids/nieces/nephews, etc. etc. I've even had doctors be like, "So, you don't want kids? Hrm, interesting" --- |
