That is true to a certain extent but even then there is quite a bit of diversity and you will find some Dravidians who are also light-skinned/light-eyed and northerners who are dark. But some jealous people here like this @BlackHorse6969 don't want to admit it. They think only Europeans can have those features. He is comparing a Black man being born in China and being Chinese by nationality to the racial diversity between native Indians. He's implying all these Indians with light hair/eyes/skin must have European origin, even though they belong to native North Indian ethnicities, which have existed here for thousands of years. Similarly, he thinks all those millions of Asian looking Indians are basically Chinese immigrants born in India. |

But a lot of them get very jealous or hateful when they see anything that doesn't fit the stereotype or image of India they have in mind. You can see many of them here in this thread. |

I'm very light skinned and I don't have any British ancestry. |

Kasperia 12/29/17 11:51:34 PM #55 | NINExATExSEVEN posted... Huh this is actually really interesting tc. I'm legit impressed. Do you have anymore cool things to share about India? Yeah, sure. Freddie Mercury was an Indian. He was a Parsi (Zoroastrian) of Indian descent. Zoroastrianism is the native pre-islamic religion of Iran. The only reason it survives today is because of India, as nearly all of Iran is now Muslim. India, once spread all the way from Afghanistan to Burma and Tibet, and Indian influence can be seen all the way to Southeast Asia. Indonesia was probably discovered by Indians and there is still a small minority of native adherents of Hinduism in the island of Bali. The name Indonesia is basically a mix of India+Asia. There are three deserts in India. 1. The Thar Desert, which is basically like any other desert. Here, temperatures are really high, going over 50C. 2. The Great Rann of Kutch, this is a salt marsh. Also, known as "The White Desert of India". That is salt not snow, and climate here is similar to the Thar, very hot. 3. Spiti Valley, and some portion of Ladakh, is a cold-winter desert. This is a desert, situated in the middle of the mountains. Climate is excruciatingly cold here. People in this region ride these rare double-humped camels, known as the Bactrian camels. An episode of Game of Thrones Season 7 was shot here. A very large portion of The Dark Knight Rises was shot in another part of India. |

Kasperia 12/29/17 6:48:41 PM #1 | There has been a lot of discussion and arguing about whether Indians are Asian or not. Well, what if I told you that these people right here are Indians? Yes, that's right. This is what around 20-25% of Indians look like. And no, they don't have anything to do with China or any other Asian country. Most of them are Hindu and culturally more closer to other Indians. The entire Northeastern part of India is of Asian descent. We do share a little similarities with Tibet, which is more closer to India than it is to China. Also, India is way more diverse than you may think. If you go to some of the north and northwestern-most parts of India, you will even find natural blondes and red heads. For example, a naturally blonde haired, blue-eyed Kashmiri Hindu. A few more examples. In fact, this is what a lot of full-blooded North Indians look like. Now, I know, a lot of people will say that these types make up a very small % but that's not true. Most of these are average guys and not models/celebs. You will indeed find average people like this in some parts of India. Another stereotype people has is that whole India is a hot desert. That's funny because the tallest mountain range in the world is in India and most of the highest peaks after Mt. Everest are in India. (Mt. Everest is in Nepal, which is a separate country but basically like a part of India that broke off) Though, India has one of the largest deserts in the world and the highest recorded temperature is over 51C. The lowest recorded temperature is -60 C and the second coldest inhabited place on earth after Siberia is in India, it's a town called Drass. https://www.skymetweather.com/content/lifestyle-and-culture/welcome-to-dras-worlds-second-coldest-inhabited-place/ It snows in a very large portion of India. It snows in approximately 350,000km of the country, which is more area than the entire size of most countries. It snows so much that entire highways get blocked. Some of the world's most beautiful places are in India. World's highest motorable road and the world's highest helipad is also situated here. For those who think, all of India is dirty. Chandigarh was named the most perfect city in the world. https://m.indiatimes.com/news/india/bbc-names-chandigarh-the-most-perfect-city-in-the-world-and-we-couldn-t-be-happier-249185.html Asia's cleanest village is also in India. https://www.lonelyplanet.in/articles/5506/a-day-at-the-cleanest-village-in-asia-mawlynnong-meghalaya I don't want to make this any longer (there are a few more things like the rainiest place on earth, Indians of African origin, Jews , a winter desert, etc.). India has some of the hottest, coldest and rainiest places on earth. There are over 1600 languages spoken here and people of every race and religion can be found here. We don't fit into any single category. We are White, Brown, Black, Asian, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Jain, etc... This picture of the Indian Army perfectly illustrates India's diversity. Here you can see people of various ethncities. |
