They (the original SSB versions) are the only two Amiibo I own, and I bought them in a second hand shop for 5 each about a week before it was announced that they'd do something important in BotW and they shot up in price. I could have traded them in for a nice profit, but decided to keep them for the unlock.

Now I've finally bought a Switch and Zelda (although I'm focusing on Mario Odyssey right now), and I just realised I still don't know exactly why I've been holding onto these things. What will they get me in the game?

I wanted to play Secret Rings and Black Knight, but I'd be doing it on an emulator, which might actually make it a good game, but at the same time it's no longer a valid opinion of the game because it's not the actual game. If that makes sense.

Secret Rings is weird to emulate. I had it set up to play using a 360 controller, with the stick replacing the tilt controls, and it worked brilliantly... until I reached one obstacle that requires a flicking motion that can't be 'faked' through control mapping, so you still need a real Wiimote connected via Bluetooth... and I don't have a Bluetooth receiver.

Black Knight emulated is fine.

Nightdive (the studio that goes around acquiring and re-releasing forgotten games) was trying to make it happen at one point. No idea if they ever got anywhere or if they're still actively pursuing it, but it's been a while with no news, so sadly it seems unlikely.

Especially if they bundled the two different versions and gave you an option to play Gestalt or Replicant.

Just read that article. Fuck EA. I know a new Dead Space game wasn't likely any time soon, but at least I had hope that we might see one one day.

And I didn't even know about that Star Wars game- Uncharted in the GFFA sounds fantastic! But that paragraph about what they're doing with it pretty obviously translates to "We're making it multiplayer and adding lootboxes".

Instabought the BTA tier for Hacknet Labyrinths. Crawl, Hand of Fate, Satellite Reign and Firetop are excellent bonuses.

Armello looks cool, but I can't support the developer after the shit they pulled with the GOG version.

They're bad localisations of a bad port, but the originals were great so even butchered they're still decent games.

The port stripped out the battle system (which, on PC, was the same as in the later Trails games, but on PSP was replaced with something much more generic), and the localisation switched around the order of the series, which screwed up the ongoing plot threads.

In the first game, the paper thing was pretty much just a visual style. TTYD and Super added gameplay elements that played on characters being 2D, but everyone still talked as if they were their normal selves. Then Sticker Star and Color Splash had characters openly talking about being made of paper, covered in paint etc, and finally Paper Mario crossed over into the Mario & Luigi series alongside the 'real' Mario. I haven't played Paper Jam yet, so I don't know if they treat it as two time-shifted versions of the same person like in M&L PiT ("Hey, Mario, remember that time you were made of paper? That was weird"), or a doppelganger from a flat universe.

I always create female characters. If a game lets me create an avatar, I don't look at that character as being 'me' any more than Mario, Sonic or Lara Croft is me. They're a person in a story that I get to help tell, and my favourite stories are about crafty heroines so, given the choice, that's the type of person I'll put into the story.

KHUX is giving away 5 Cid 10 medals if you log in within the next few days, and all the standard (ie- not time-limited) Premium Avatar boards are discounted, so you can get a big Cost boost for a fraction of the normal Jewel cost (it was enough to get me exactly enough Cost to equip three 6* medals as long as one of them has been fully Cidded, so getting all those Cids at the same time works out nicely).

KHUX's Black Friday special (which lasts 7 days)- 3000 Jewels for 10 medals, all Epics. Two at 6* with three dots, the other eight 5*. You're also guaranteed an HD Sora in five pulls instead of the normal 10, and if you manage to guilt HD Sora within the week, you get an HD Mickey. Also, you have way too much money.

I... may be spending a lot of Jewels on this one. My first go got me three medals I particularly wanted- Musketeer Mickey, Black Coat Mickey and KH2 Kairi, plus the new Isa medal, which seems cool. My 6*s were Xehanort and Cinderella, which are... meh.

That's... kind of a good point- if Back Cover is supposed to contain all the important plot elements that will be relevant to KH3, and it comes out in a few months, will UX itself even have all of that story in it by then?
It'd be a bit weird if they're still stretching out a story that everyone already knows the conclusion to.

Just want to check- in KHUX, to activate SAB/Guilt, do you literally have to strengthen a medal to 6 dots and then strengthen it again, or is it enough to fuse a medal with enough dots to bump it up to 7?

IE, if I've got two medals with three dots each, can I fuse one on to the other (for a total of four extra dots) and get the SAB, or would the extra dot be wasted and then require another matching medal?

KHUX has been downloaded 5 million times, and to celebrate they're giving every account that logs in over the next few days 3000 Jewels and a Timeless River Mickey.

There's also a new mechanic added in the new update- the Nova attack is a once-per-mission ability unlocked by guilting a medal, and gets stronger every time you guilt another medal. Guess I ought to stop throwing away all those Stitches and unlock the SAB on my 6* one.

Heads up, you should do the High Score Challenge in KHUX before it ends today. There's a glitch that causes you to earn much more points than you're supposed to.

Damn, that's one hell of a glitch. Got exactly as far through the gauntlet as my last attempt, but beat my record by over a million points. True, I had a Uniform Selphie equipped this time, but I'm pretty sure that was more than a 14% increase.

And now I've got to use up all these Scrooges that are cluttering up my medal collection and putting me way over my storage limit.

Okay, yeah, that makes sense. I forgot about dots and Guilt- spending fucktons of money gets you multiples of good medals that makes them super-powerful. Actually, I'm pretty sure I've seen HD Aquas with dots, how does that happen? Everyone got one and only one, surely?
Ah well, I'm only here for the story, so while it'd be nice to be able to get all the cool stuff, I'm not too fussed if I can't compete in ranked events.

Anyway, I did the current 1500J Score Assistance Deal a couple of times (5 medals, one 6*, four 5*s, all from the pool of medals that boosts your score in the Score Challenge)- two Ansems, three Selphies, but not the Kairi I wanted. Dammit.
(I also got two Musketeer Donalds, an Aladdin, a Daisy and someone from Org XIII.)

Why? I'm still not sure how spending money can make you that much more powerful in this game, especially considering how easy it is to rack up loads of jewels for free. Aside from guaranteed super-epics by doing an EMC ten times, I'm guessing it's the VIP quests that make the difference, but what do you actually get from them?

Just want to check I'm reading this right- in KHUX, if you do the Epic Medal Carnival draw, the three 5+ star medals are guaranteed to be from the list in the announcement, yes? I've got just under 21K jewels, and might go for a few attempts to get a Kairi.

Also, how do parties work? I keep getting invitations and ignoring them (how the hell do people even find me to invite me anyway?), but I guess it's something I ought to do something about, with proper multiplayer apparently coming soon. Is there a Board 8 party?
