Like you people have as poor of a grasp on what matters as they do.

this is stupid.

again, we all know and agree that a grown man sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl is fucking disgusting. it's the most obvious thing in the world. there's nothing to dicuss there and saying it is completely pointless.

we were discussing the difference between pedophilia and ephebophilia because a) some people weren't aware of the difference and b) there's actually something to discuss there, because there's some disagreement.

discussing the difference between pedophilia and ephebophilia isn't "threadshitting." it's valuable and highly relevant to the topic at hand. it's not like rock went "HEY GUYS HERE'S MY TOP 5 GAMES LOL." that would be treadshitting.

i don't see the big deal with rock's explanation?

like, what else is there to say here? "it's fucking disgusting"? no shit, we all agree with that anyway.

explaining the difference between pedophilia and ephebophilia actually adds information to the topic that some people (evidently) weren't aware of before.

sounds like a better system.

here they can tell you to GTFO too but you don't have the "employed indefinitely" bonus!

the employer does need to have a good reason to tell you to GTFO, though. it can't be something like "i'm having a shitty day today."

In news related to the topic, I'm going to do a Zappa News item on Halloween 77 (yes, it did get released), but for now I'll point out that it is available on Spotify! Wasn't sure if they were going to do that since it is kind of an anomaly, being a "USB stick release" and all. I'm very much looking forward to listening to the whole thing if I can find the time!

werent you looking for like a year and a half

and the one you finally found is only for two months?

well, when i was studying i wasn't looking for a super serious job yet. i received my BA in february and quit studying then (for now, at least - i still want to get my MA some day) so it's more like 8 months. still a really long time, yes, but it's not a year and a half.

and i'm not sure how this works in the US but here in the netherlands it's very rare for a company to offer a 20 year contract or whatever. usually they offer a contract for 1 or 2 months and then they offer one for a longer period (varies between 6 months and a few years, roughly), and then they offer another one, etc. etc. so it's not like i'm already 100% sure that i won't still have this job after december. whether or not they want to keep me will probably depend on how well i do the job in the first few months.

ok. but it's still dumb because inserting AotC doesn't do anything to make AotC or the experience of watching all the movies better. it's just inserting a bunch of horsecrap in an enjoyable trilogy.

my problem with the machete order is the implication that AotC is a good movie that adds to the overall star wars viewing experience when in reality you should only watch it if you're a star wars completionist.

it's like inserting the star wars holiday special after a new hope because "it makes you see chewbacca in an entirely different way when you watch empire" or something. it's just dumb.

also, wolverine 1 and x-men 1 supposedly take place in the same timeline, which also doesn't make much sense since they have completely different sabretooths.

i know having different actors is par for the course - kitty pryde is played by like 5 different actresses throughout the series - but the sabretooth from wolverine 1 also has a totally different personality than the sabretooth from x-men 1.

my vote wouldn't change with the different poll options, though. sure, there's great batman movies, but if everything counts that means crap like batman & robin is also included. LotR still wins easily, even with the hobbit trilogy included.
