So we cant use actual definitions to describe criminals?

If someone was arrested and sentenced to jail and they tell us "are we not allowed to call them criminals"

You know very well yourself that we can't call people racists anymore even if it actually describes them.

Yuri is the one you cannot trust. She is the villain in the game they are making in 2018.

I saw the Game Theory videos on this game, I am thoroughly intrigued about Salvato's next game.

I don't watch game theory. Summary?

I would definitely suggest watching the videos on it, but more or less going through all the files in the game and decoding certain files leads to a website that suggests a release date of 2018 for something, and that something suggests that Yuri is actually the villain of that game coming out next year, and it basically has to do with the fictional novel she talks about through the game. Basically she has a "third eye" type power unlocked in her that makes her have bloodlust and can kinda affect people around here. She is the result of a medical and scientific experiment into creating some form of mind control

I've read about but people were theorizing it was Monika who was the experiment because stuff like the hole fits more with her entire backstory and her saying she doesn't belong in that world. Yuri doesn't even do anything paranormal. How did game theory get to the conclusion it was Yuri? iirc, the file found in Yuri's folder is just some easter egg of a formerly anonymous creepypasta Salvato made 2 years ago. idk I just don't really take game theory seriously after that SANS=NESS?! silliness.

If it isn't, it should be.

She lied and messed with evidence to get the guy thrown in jail for something he didn't do. 3 years of his life and his reputation ruined by a jealous and scorned individual. That's fucked up on so many levels.

I wouldn't go that far, it's a vocal minority but there are people who say and believe that stuff.

I think the most famous case in recent memory might be Lena Dunham. She tweeted something that basically said women don't lie about rape and then later on when her friend was accused she backpedaled and said he was just an exception.

Damn, another thing similar to the us

No, they just cant kill because a lot of departments across the pond are fucking unarmed and have no means of doing anything

Which developed country has that?

Great Britain has a whole shit-ton of police stations with zero firearms.

It does seem more and more stations in the UK are getting firearms but overall you're right. Most developed countries still keep their officers armed though.

A man who spent more than three years in prison on a rape conviction has been freed after a family member found deleted Facebook messages that proved his innocence.

Danny Kay, 26, of Derby in England, had been jailed in 2013 after a woman accused him of rape following a sexual encounter the year before, according to local media. Key to his conviction were Facebook messages that appeared to show him apologizing for sex without the womans consent.

It turned out the woman had selectively deleted messages in an apparent effort to prove her version of the story. It was only when Kays sister-in-law Sarah Maddison found an archived version of the messages on his Facebook account that he was able to get the conviction overturned.

Englands Court of Appeal in London ruled that police relied on an edited and misleading account of the Facebook conversation that was given to them by the complainant in the weeks after she claimed she was raped by Kay, the Daily Mail reported.

Kay told the paper that he owed his liberty to a conversation with a fellow inmate who convinced him the Facebook messages he thought were lost were recoverable.

Kay then asked Maddison to log in to his account. I couldnt believe how easy it was to find the messages, she told the Daily Mail. I am no social media expert, she said, but it only took me a minute to find them, so how trained police couldnt is beyond me. Kay had strenuously denied the charges to police.

The saga began in 2012 when Kay and the accuser had sex in what he described as a casual fling. He said it was consensual, she said it was not. At his trial, his accuser said there had been little contact between them after sex, the Independent newspaper reported. However, the full string of Facebook messages proved there was considerable contact and that the sex was consented to by both parties.

In particular, one edited message considered by the jury read sorry, implying that forced sex had taken place. The complete messages, however, showed that it was a response to the woman asking him why he was ignoring her. Also omitted from the version presented to the jury was her response: Dnt [sic] be.

Another factor in his conviction were edited messages that implied Kay had misled the woman about his age during their conversations, thus branding him as a liar. During their first Facebook conversation, the Daily Mail reported, he asked the girl how old she was, to which she replies: Nearly 17. (The age of consent in England is 16.) He then asked if she was single and she replied yep. He then said: Same here. However, in the messages shown to the jury, it appeared that his Same here response is a reference to his age.

In addition, the paper said, in one of the messages sent after the sexual encounter Kay asked the accuser for her phone number because hed lost it. Not only did she supply it, but she also sent four kiss emojis. She later deleted this and other messages.

In another section of the deleted messages, the accuser says: im still here for ya! And in another communication, after the pair had split up, she said: I thought u woulda at least tried to get me back.

When the recovered messages were shown to the appeals court, the judges in a ruling in late December said that the exchange undermined the womans account and supported Kays version.

Derbyshire Police told the Daily Mail it would review its investigation to find out whether lessons can be learned.

You make great points about how these sound like poor translation choices, and are definitely lazy choices, but I still don't understand what virtue they are trying to signal with this? It sounds like a design choice, rather than virtue signaling. If the entire intention was to make the game "family-friendly" I could definitely see that as a type of virtue signaling, though not what one would traditionally think of as such, but in this case I don't see exactly what virtue is being signaled if they just changed some text to completely different meanings.

It's more of a literal definition of virtue signaling than the one most people use. The virtue they're signaling is how unique and special their localizations can be (though one could say they were also trying to pander to the western political climate at the time) and because of it, a lot of the supports suffered (there was an entire support that was nothing but ellipses, and it would've been fine if they remarked on it, but in the later supports they just used the Japanese version so they couldn't even be consistent) and they were even unable to bring over all the content.

Lmao he's talking about skinship? So he thinks the game was ruined because he can't rub his precious waifu's face?

No. He is probably talking about the questionable localization. Not skinship.

Oh, which part of the localization then? I've only heard about Skinship censorship.

They literally didn't even release 2 backstory heavy DLC into the west because Treehouse said fuck it, there's not enough time and we're too lazy to do any more even though fans were able to translate it almost instantly. That's a prime example of holding back.

Wait how is that being held back by virtue signaling? Sounds like pure laziness

I mean, if they just translated it without putting so much hassle over making the dialogue unique, different, or memey (a lot of the supports were heavily edited) like they did with Awakening they could've certainly have been able to get to it in the year they had before they focused on FE Warriors. Fans had already translated it a week after it was out. In short, rather than use a slightly sloppy translation, they decided on no translation at all. It's not exactly the kind of "virtue signaling" most people use, but it's still a kind of virtue signaling that really brings down a game.
