4. To sell toys/be funny/be something for the kids

The first point is still BS, but I wanted to add that going into the fortress for protection is a pretty shitty excuse too. They could have literally just run left or right and would have been fine. Or they could have left out the secret exit without waiting until the Rebellion was about to lose.
