So, random story I felt like telling this morning (partially because I feel proud)...

A few months ago, for my niece's birthday, I got her a 2DS and Animal Crossing, and ever since then, just about every time that I've talked to her guardians on the phone, she has pretty much stolen the phone to tell me stories about the things that she has been doing in the game... Today, she opened up one of the things that I sent her (Pokemon Y), and has been asking me non-stop questions about where to find certain pokemon (horses and cats, mostly).

Sounds like me and Nier Automata. PS4 is $30 at Gamestop, but no real price drops anywhere else for PC... Half considering bringing in some old wii games to trade for it (apparently they are paying $22.50 for Mario Kart Wii O.o)

Just finished 100%ing it, took me about 7 hours. For only $5, it's not bad. Good level design (though the dev does kind of over-use hidden paths, imo), enjoyable music, and fair platforming. A bit on the easy side until after the third boss, at which point there is a difficulty spike. Won't get into the ending, but I will say that you definitely aren't getting into this game for its story.

Honestly though, I'd probably suggest a few other metroidvania's before this one;

*For something tough as nails, Xeodrifter would probably be up your alley. Word of warning though, hovering requires rapid pressing, and will probably strain your tapping finger (and this is only $1!)
*Ghost 1.0 is a little different, in that is combines rogue with metroidvania, but it was a pretty fun experience overall. If you are a fan of crazy weapons, this one is totally worth it (and it's the same price as Alwa's Awakening)

Well, technically Gamefly still exists, so renting isn't completely dead. Think it's $10 a month (at least it was when I used 'em a few years ago).

But nah, don't really miss renting as much anymore, what with Steam (no need for renting when the backlog gets deep)

Just beat Ni No Kuni recently, and can easily say Esther is up there with Donald for most useless. Always depleting her mana at the start of battles (making it so she can never heal), and 9/10 the first to die.
