Even though one may disagree with his interpretation, his intentions are clearly in favor of diversification. It's like calling Bernie racist for his gaffe saying, "when you're white you don't know what it's like to be poor"; even though it's a false statement liable to offend people, his point was just that minorities face poverty at disproportionate rates relative to white people.
