Republicans: "The people should be allowed to decide."

The people: "We want abortion to be legal."

Republicans: "On second thought, we should get to decide."

I wish this would backfire on them, as people vote Democrats in droves in the state, but it won't. So glad that I live in a deep blue state now.

the gop is getting ready to nominate trump who was found guilty of rape civilly and is very likely to be convicted of multiple felonies at the federal and state levels. they have no scruples at all

They don't care about rape charges. Look at how Jim Jordan covered up things at Ohio State. What they do care about though is defrauding their donors. Or at least, doing it without also being the leader of a cult of followers who, when you say "Jump!" everyone says "How high?"

Because he hadn't been convicted yet. I think that's fair. I believe if he's convicted, then they'll expel him.

Oh, sorry I wasn't clear. I was referring to what the supervisor in my old district said. Obviously the cat story was 100% misrepresented. But I'd be willing to bet the story of a student feeling 'bullied' for being asked for their pronouns was also made up. Either by the parent or the supervisor. Because that's their playbook when it comes to transgender issues, and other issues as well. I wish people weren't so gullible. But they're willing to believe anything negative about their opponents.

Labour is absolutely riddled with outspoken transphobic bigots like Rosie Duffield who is completely drowning in nothing but flagrant anti-trans rhetoric and pushing the likes of party leader Kier Starmer who publicly argued for forcibly outing LGBT youths to abusive parents and has piled on to the beyond f***ing ridiculous cat identity hoax.

There's a lot of hoaxes going around. It's a ridiculous story designed to spark outrage at those too (excuse me for saying it) are too stupid to know it's not true. My former school district banned asking for pronouns because some parent called in saying their child was being bullied being asked for their pronouns. Now I'm willing to bet one of two things happened: #1. The parent made the story up. Probably at the urging of people like Matt Walsh OR #2. The supervisor made the story up at the urging of people like Matt Walsh. And they did this during a time when teacher retention was (and remains) low because they refuse to give teachers raises. I'm so glad that I got out, but I still worry for the students left behind who I can't stand up for anymore. Even the Superintendent called them out on it. (And some members of the community as well). It was just plain ridiculous.

And that's the thing: All these made up stories are easy for people to believe because they want to believe it. It's easier that way to hate people they don't know. It gives them windmills to tilt at. Only the windmills are vulnerable children they're knocking over in their path for 'justice'.

Politicians have spread the harmful rhetoric of the 'litter box' story, without ever verifying it. Imagine if Democrats made up a story about Florida Schools requiring students to pledge an oath to Hitler. And then everyone decided to believe it because hey, it sounds like something the right would do!

Again what a coincidence that they dont use golden retrievers or beagles as attack dogs, I wonder why that is.

Probably because of the bad reputation Pitbulls get, combined with how easy they are to get vs a Golden Retriever which can cost $1000?

I was surprised by that. Apparently they use a lot of sexual innuendo and terms referring to sexual organs. I planned on taking my kids to see it, but I'm not sure it's content is appropriate for their age yet. Maybe let them watch it when they're a little older. Like 10 or 11.

Pitbulls are not particularly aggressive towards people. They are aggressive toward other animals. And it's not because of how they're raised, it's because of how they were bred. But they were not bred for aggression towards humans. Many dogs are also often mischaracterized as Pitbulls (and conversely, many dogs that are pitbulls, are mischaracterized as other breeds). Breed identification error is extremely high, both in shelters and in cases of animal attacks. It's worth noting: Pitbulls pass the temperament test at a higher rate than the general dog population.

When a dog attacks a person, the vast majority of the time (regardless of breed) it is due to irresponsible owners. This tends to be why people say "it's how you raise them". Because when it comes to aggression toward humans, the vast majority of the time it's the humans that are at fault, not the breed. And Pitbulls sadly have a lot of irresponsible owners (probably largely due to their reputation preventing good owners from owning them)

I have two pitbulls (American Staffordshire Terriers) and they are very gentle dogs. I am wary when they are with other dogs, and we have trained them. While I didn't set out to adopt a pitbull, we ended up with them when a friend moved to prevent them from being euthanized. Like many people, I was a bit wary of the breed. But now that I've had them for many years, I'm glad I brought them into our family. They're very loving, kind and sweet. I hope one day the breed sheds the many misconceptions about them people have.
