Sequence is basically the exact same game as Gimme Five (I think the only difference I know of is that the cards are in different spots on the boards) which i have a soft spot for since its something i would play with my family all the time when i was younger.

So far I agree with the the four I've played completely (44, 42, 39, 38) and also have no desire to play any of them again.

I would personally put mysterium below dead of winter though because i feel like its more likely to have extended downtime

Asked for donations many times and have been turned down many times, I respect that. This is a game and a contest though...little different, and I have seen them change the rules as a reaction to me (which I'll own, I know I am hard on their business model despite my belief they plan around people like me for their business). That said, Build-A-Bear would also still sell me a stuffed animal -- the fair's choosing not to sell to me after banning me from playing their game. No further official interaction with their business, in that sense, and that's more messed up.

Anyways, my point was that you are making a lot of assumptions and looking at a small piece of the overall fair. I wouldn't be surprised if these kind of games were the second biggest money maker (after food most likely) in the fair. A lot of rides cost a lot (quick google search let me see 100k+ for a used ride, up to a million for new). In addition to maintenance. I'm pretty sure you are underestimating the salaries, (unless they are paid under the table which they might be) since you aren't including workmans comp or anything like that and acccording to some googling the average page is between 9 and 17, as well as the day the spend picking everything up.

It's also a seasonal thing so there will be slow periods. Not to mention insurance, transport (which is likely a fair amount)

I'm not saying fairs don't make money, they obviously do, but its a hell of an investment (easily a million up front) for probably a lot less income than you would think.

So...about five winners over ten days, and at least one of them were a prize-hunter besides me. I also won two prizes, so like...maybe only four people won?

If so, man, I have to believe the public has done better in the past. Poor the public.

Also, the game-runners were saying previously they make about seven hundred bucks a day through the game. They played ten nights. ~$7,000 estimate then during the fair, right. Each of these stuffed animals could sell for $100+ individually -- I've seen similar items in person at Rite-Aid for $120 plus I have seen one of my donations go for $476 in a fund-raiser -- and I know they have bulk prices straight from the makers to lower these expenses. I heard in the past they could cost the fair as low as $15 each to buy in this way, but I haven't verified that. Still, that tells me the fair made ~$6,400-$6,925 to then split their other costs like wages.

That's ~$1,280-$1,385 the fair made per stuffed animal they lost.

That's ~256-277 attempts for a prize with $5 per try...and ~384-416 attempts per prize with $10 for three tries.

Can I tell you something? They're doing fine, even with me coming in to win. That's a lot of profit margin they're making on most of these, and these are numbers that already include me winning my prizes quickly and having at least one other prize-hunter there. Vary the estimates as you see fit, but money's being made.

And Kathy's boss said they didn't have enough prizes to "give away" or even sell. Don't tell me there couldn't have been a reasonable price. This was a rejection based on my skills, not some business acumen or supply-side struggles.

You aren't including transport fees, days off between fairs (where theres 0 income), lodging cost for the employees. Not to mention things like taxes etc.

Remember this is basically a business. Would you have the same kind of reaction if you went to build-a-bear or target and asked for stuff animals to donate and they said no?

Out of these I have played Gnosia, Paranormasight, Root Double, World End Economica.

Paranormasight is the only one I've finished. I thought it was decent but definitely not as good as the ZE games imo.

Gnosia I just fell off of due to being repetitive, despite not disliking it. I may go back to it

World End ecomonica I was enjoying somewhat but fell off. I played it so long ago though so i dont remember why.

I started Root Double and was midly enjoying it but I think I was just not in a vn mood at the time so I stopped. I may go back to it.

Out of the rest I know I want to play Process of Elimination.

Curious on the rest of them, don't know anything about them

Sounds like I might pass on this then, unless someone else comes in super positive on this.

Honestly the only game i've played from them is steins;gate and while I liked it, I don't need to play more similar stuff atm

depending on how much you change your tires you can easily be going 7-8 faster than you think.

Do I think it happened here? No probably not but its definitely a possibility and just a reminder that a speedometer isn't fullproof

I was once going exactly the speed limit on the highway. A cop who was behind another car pulled over ahead ran out into the middle of the highway and waved down the truck in front of me to pull over. The truck did pull over, and I followed because it seemed like an emergency.

If anyone likes phoenix wright I highly recommend this game

I played the Great Ace Attorney games right before this so I had a pretty good comparison, I honestly thing in some ways this game is better than peak Ace Attorney (It's definitely better than build-up games) It does suffer from some ui/control issues due to the lower budget.

Curious if anyone else has played it and what were there thoughts. May discuss the game more in depth later in spoiler tags but mainly wanted people that didn't know about this game to hear about it.

Anime wise, these are things I think you would like based on what you gave higher scores:

Silver Spoon (Slower paced coming of age farming show)
Ascendance of a bookworm (Isekai with no combat, definitely not for everyone but some people really like it)

No idea on dub status of any of these though other than baccano which has a good dub

CS 3+4 and the 2 Crossbell games on PS4 give you items. If you get it on PS5 you get all the stuff without having to own the games though.

I'm assuming pc is same as ps4 but nice. I will have to figure out how to get the crossbell saves in right location since i played the fan translations

This is a complex question. The simple answer is I like the games that feature it better this way. But I would never hold it against a game to just have anytime pausing. I also simply will not "pause-scum" if I feel that way about a certain game. This comes partly from the fact that I think the dark souls game design is good. I am much more likely to use things I consider "cheap" if I feel like the game isn't being fair with me in the first place. Or if game decides there will be an hour+ boss I would think not being able to pause would be horrible.

If rereleases of dark souls suddenly let you pause, I would be disappointed. It would feel like someone who enjoys the feeling of rockclimbing without a harness being forced to wear one. Wouldn't be the biggest deal in the world though.

I think my disconnect here is everyone is saying no pausing isn't an issue because there are workarounds usually. If there are workarounds why not just let me pause. Like what harm does it do. Like not pausing literally doesn't matter 99% of the time so why not come up with something for those oh shit moments. Whether a thre second delay pause or a limit on pausing frequency or something

I guess i just don't get your point. The only points I remember seeing are:

Inventory management - just don't allow it. Have the menu screen and the pause screen be different

Pause buffering - who the fuck cares. put a 15 second delay on pausing for all I care.

I want my life to dictate my games not visversa. If I'm at the point where I need to consider not answering a phone call from a family member because I'd have to restart a problem it's bad design. Not saying the game is bad but that decision was bad

I have played multiple games and beat the first dark souls. I had to go tend to something really quick half through that orstein and smough fight and pressed start and walked away. Was obviously dead when I came back.

It doesn't come up often but one time is annoying

Employers can change your job duties at will and can fire you if you dont like it as long as the state is at will. I've never worked at a non at-will state so idk what its like there
