I will forever remember a cop show (NCIS, maybe?) where one of the detectives goes into the room of a gamer-woman, somehow discerns her PC's specs just by looking at the case, then immediately realizes who she is and starts saying shit like, "Wait, you're [insert random haxxorz name here]? You... you hold the high score on nearly every MMO on the market!"

This was back in the 2000s, but even then I felt like saying, "Dude, I *guarantee* you there is at least one person on your staff who has played a video game before, and they should be line-editing this part of the script, because this shit is just fuckin' embarrassing."

But if you couldn't name him, then you couldn't project yourself onto this fully fleshed out character with an established personality and voice acting!

No. I drink less than five drinks a year, typically - just on special occasions (a glass of champagne on New Years or at weddings, a glass of wine over Thanksgiving dinner, etc.).

Also, I think this is the first person I've ever seen to reference Steambot Chronicles other than myself. Some days I feel like a wizard made that game and I found the only copy in a random used game shop.

People also tend to overestimate how popular the Nazis were in Germany. They never managed to achieve a full majority of the popular vote in elections, even the wildly corrupt ones where they jailed their opposition and sent thugs to beat up their supporters and smash their printing presses.

I can't even recall the last time I played a new single player game that had cheats. Do those even still exist in modern titles?

Yes. I keep a minimum of $10k in my chequing account, which would qualify as a rainy day fund, and $10k in a savings account for emergencies.

Would there be a sonic boom? Yes. A sonic boom is just a pressure wave generated by something moving, and when it is close to or at the speed of sound, the waves overlap and merge, as they are also travelling at the speed of sound. An object moving at supersonic speeds underwater would result in the same effect - however, because water is largely incompressible, the pressure wave would be more damaging than the over-air equivalent.

Would it be harmful to marine life? Yes - potentially fatally so, if they're close enough. Again, it's a pressure wave, so it will behave like any other pressure wave in an incompressible medium.

Would the water displacement cause a tidal wave? No - not unless you were somehow launching this from very, very deep underwater (and generating enough energy to have a supersonic missile under that much pressure is well beyond what our technology is capable of - honestly, something that can go supersonic speeds underwater is already beyond our tech level, but doing so that deep underwater adds an even greater level of difficulty). Tidal waves are largely based on the volume of water displaced, not the speed at which it is displaced, so the fact that your torpedo is moving really, really fast isn't any more likely to result in a tidal wave than a speedboat doing the same thing.
