Yes, you are confused. This was never inherently a language issue, as that is only one branch of a bigger tree with deeper roots.

People opposed to trans inclusion want to treat it like its just a language issue though because they dont have any footing in actuality, relying on privilege to carry them into the conversation from their point of raw aversion to any deviation from cishet normativity.

Nonbinary is under the trans umbrella; they dont identify with the gender/sex assigned to them at birth (gender incongruence.)

This is literally the definition of being trans.

This is a microcosm of how cis people will ignore and speak over minorities, silencing us, (misunderstanding how language and labels function in this case,) and continue to promote or otherwise reinforce our marginalization.
