Yeah, for example, Mack has been renamed into "Claymorton", and Yaridovich into "Speardovich" (which actually is technically correct but still looks weird).

I don't mind being more "translation accurate", but they were some of my first rpg boss of my whole life. Changing their names will feel so weird

I'm okay with games being political as long as they don't make the characters ugly. Like, Aloy is ugly as sin. Why'd they have to do her like that? They beat her with that ugly stick.

I think calling it more "social commentary" than "political" would actually make more sense

My favourite apolitical game was Final Fantasy X being an allegory about mixing religions and political decisions together. I wish we had less political games and more allegory about the separation of church and States

Demo left a very great impression on me. And somehow the music sounds even better(and that game's soundtrack was already amazing)

They are all consistently high standard games. The very worst is still good and the best are really good.

Its also great that they're all available for PC. Square Enix are too greedy with the exclusives and exclusives only really work when the games are actually good enough to back it up.

Well, they were pretty niche not that long ago and even the creators admitted it. Seems like more and more people are doing the whole series

Well. Like a dragon was my first. I just did 0, but I think I would not consider 1 to 6 if it wasn't for 0. Still 550 hours seems very time consuming

Yakuza 0 started the craze (in the west) with more and more people getting into it.

Well... a prequel made the series less intimidating for me.

Erm no? It started getting hugely popular around Yakuza 0. The only one that is turnbased was Yakuza 7 (like a dragon) and that was relatively recent.

Edit: Just for reference, we've had Yakuza 0, Yakuza 6, Kiwami, Kiwami 2 and all the remasters from 3 to 5, and also Judgement before it ever went turnbased lol.

FFX has the depth to be interesting, it's just that (as is standard for FF) it's too easy. It gets really interesting once you get into challenge runs.

It's be fun if their was a real remake where they do the new game plus thing at a higher difficulty

Final Fantasy 1 followed a trend as well. It was capitalizing on the success of Dragon Quest like many other devs were doing.

I'm all for the return of turn based FF, but I loved 16 for what it is.

Fair enough, I was a bit disapointed, but the soundtrack and story were great

I just wish we at least had multiple "real" characters or at least multiple weapon types

It's greed. They want the money from the exclusivity deals, but they also want "best selling game of all time" kind of numbers, despite those deals.

I can't help, but think this is such a bad decision as well. There's so many games that get released over a short period of time that a lot of people want to feel the initial hype to talk about them with friends

Borderlands had a huge success back then because of rpg elements in a FPS games. (Which were a lot rarer back then) Like yeah some people who aren't into FPS bought the game, but they liked the gameplay enough to buy it

The thing is, I actually prefer linear games. FF13 just took it to a ridiculous level. The classic FFs were linear, but they let you explore with that catered space. The FF13 map was a literal line. All the cool stuff you see is just the background. They may have developed other stuff, but they did not develop the world at all.

To be fair, old FF felt more "open" back then before the open era

Baldur's Gate did well because it's digital D&D, not because it's turn based. It also allows you to use the the environment in creative ways, unlike FF.

The problem Square-Enix has is they sold off their Western studios and IP to try and get some quick money to invest in blockchain garbo and now they're stuck with Final Fantasy being their biggest IP.

Which is perhaps is currently the least relevant headliner IP for any major video game publisher.

More interactions with the environment, being able to move like a crpg or srpg in battles. Make CC more relevant or even do like Persona 5 where weaknesses and resistance is a massive part of the game

BG3 combat is a whole different beast than the tradional four dudes in a row style of final fantasy.

It's almost like they could have modernised the genre instead of dropping it

tbf, my favorite FFs are 6 and 10, which are both basically turn-based.

That said, FF16's combat was fun. Just needed a bit more going on.

I prefered remake for 3 reasons

1-many playable characters, they were all fun to play (Although I got a bit bored easily with Barret)
2-More customisation in builds
3-While there was some generic quests, it wasn't overloaded with them. Yeah stories in side quests were great, but where were the secret dungeons, mini games?
