Which one did marvel drop the ball on

To me this is secret invasion. It was fine (not great) until episode 6 when it fell apart. Dumb final fight, nick is incompetent, rhodey storyline. I think this is mcu at its lowest

I don't really know if it's that much worse than the other shows. It's just that the finale was horrendous and kinda ruined the entire show.

The main problem is it's indicative of a lot of the MCU's recent missteps, probably moreso than any series before it.

I cant think of one thing this show does better than falcon and winter solfier

Ironically, Captain Marvel had the most instances of this, between Carol Danvers being the inspiration behind 'Avengers,' and the big mystery behind Fury losing his eye being that a mutant space kitty gave him a widdle scratchy. And people generally disliked or even hated those despite them being pretty innocuous in the grand scheme of things (and arguably not even fitting the base definition of 'retcon'). So it's natural that people would be repulsed by a full-blown retcon with as many gaping holes in it as Skrodey existing all the way back to Civil War.

Maybe unpopular opinion as I know many like the show, but I'm not really big on Loki's entire premise. It took the actions of the heroes and turned all the movies into some pre-destined points.

Tbh i may agree with you and i wasnt a fan of that and loki the show in general (still much better than secret invasion)

Theres also fury always having a secret skrull wife. Fury losing his eye cuddling a space cat. Fury saying he made tesseract weapons because of thor even though he already knew of captain marvel/skrull/kree

You can watch it but I wouldnt bother doing homework for a big blockbuster movie, anything you need to know youll probably piece together pretty quick. Its a marvel movie, not rocket science

Heres relevant details if you really want to know

ms marvel put on a bangle, gave her light based stretchy powers. Her scientist friend says ms marvel has a mutant gene, thats why bangle only gave her powers. She decides to put on the bangle again and for some reason Ms Marvel vanishes and captain marvel appears in that same spot.

^I get what youre daying but its just not realistic. Really if you looked at the snap and un-snap that would destroy society, cause huge changes in religion, economy and suicides/depression, maybe near extinction. No director js taking on that burden while making the project in front of them

Ghost's was probably readily available by other means. She had an entire lab dedicated to her and her condition. Then Hank likely took samples to better treat her after everything settled down.

Idk why her sample would be taken and put in the Harvest, but it probably wouldn't have been difficult to get her DNA. Hers should've been on the list instead of a Frost Beast. Then it should've been the one Gravik used during the attack on the president rather than extremis.

Oh wait, you don't because she wasn't actually there, so it should have been literally impossible for G'iah to use that power in the horrible CGI fight since there would have been no DNA to gather at the battle's aftermath? And speaking of the DNA cocktail, I guess you can tell the variations of DNA in dust particles considering how Thanos and his goons were part of that concoction, so I also guess an entire battlefield completely full of dust due to both an army of dusted minions and the destruction of the Avengers HQ was sifted through very thoroughly? Wow this all sounds really fucking stupid the more I describe it.

There shouldnt even be any dna of thanos and his men. They got dusted by infinity stones which were thorough. Even the ships were dusted. Also ebony maws rings are part of his dna. The harvest may be the dumbest thing in the entire mcu

I feel like the MCU is making the same mistake as the Star Wars Sequel trilogy in that it feels like a lot of things are being introduced without a concrete plan of how it'll all fit together. The difference is that with the Star Wars trilogy, it resulted in two directors' creative visions clashing, whereas here, the MCU is just leaving storylines and plot details open-ended (or quickly reverting things back to status quo) so they don't have to commit to any major changes to the universe until they're ready.

I think I'm noticing it now more than ever with Secret Invasion, because the entire show feels like Marvel playing it safe. The ONLY things that happen in it that feel like they could have huge ramifications for the MCU are things that are either intentionally left blank so they can fill in the details later or things that they can outright ignore later.Just like how the MCU doesn't actually know if we'll ever see G'iah again, they also don't actually know how long Rhodey has been a Skrull for.

I think I felt the same way with Ant-Man 3. Isn't it weird how we had an entire movie centered around the Big Bad of the next MCU saga and yet the movie concludes in such a way that we're basically exactly where we started? The best way I can describe a lot of these productions is that they feel like the side quest content in a video game, even though the scope of many of them feel like they should be main storylines by themselves.

I partly agree. I dont care too much about connectivity and such, just make good movies and those that make sense together. Guardians 3 did it expertly. Told it story, had emotions, characters had a huge journey, it added ppsitively to the universe and left some fun teases of where things could go later

Something that could have been fixed/handwaved in the show in one or two sentences like you literally just did without breaking pacing at all. But they didn't and they most likely won't, so we have another layer of stupidity to add to the pile.

Right, sorry, my point was that current storytellers try to put in action where it may not be needed. This series could have been more of a spy thriller/intrigue story with the action happening mostly offscreen. People are praising Olivia Colmans performance, and she was mostly a talker. But Ive seen comments (not necessarily here on CE) that the series was boring, which I didnt feel at all.

Finally saw the last episode last night. I enjoyed the series; it was fine. Not great but fun to watch.

But Im a casual fan, not a rabid one, and Im old (50) and remember the days when movies and shows didnt need to be full of action. (Think The Terminator versus Judgment Day - distinct change in storytelling style.)

Fans didnt lament the lack of action...they disliked the action that was there

Pathetic. He wasnt cut out for this. Marvel needs to learn lessons from this and move on. While this show may have been marvel at its lowest (this or hulk), i dont think it did any permanent damage so long as gi-ah is nerfed and warmachine was skrulled after endgame

I've never quite gotten the appeal of killmonger, and I'm not so crazy about Michael b Jordan either he's just ok. BP itself is just really good for being a reverse lion king, but its not owed to just killmonger but rather the entire movie as a whole.

Thanos has spots 1 and 2 secured (2 for the endgame thanos who isnt the same as IW thanos)

I dont want to be one of those people who dwells on bad tv, so Im moving on from Secret Invasion.

but I feel Falcon and the Winter Soldier got destroyed by covid. You can tell they had bigger plans that filming restrictions wouldnt allow towards the end of the season. And Karli comes across as someone who had her whole motivation rewritten very last minute

It may have been but i was still happy with the end result. It was fun even if it had rhe disney plus problems at the end

Looking back. Falcon and winter soldier is so underrated. Its so much better than this show. Better lead, better supporting cast, better action, better ending, more diverse locations.

My guess is they want it to be open to civil war timeframe but didnt commit to it because they didnt want to box in armor wars writers so they didnt fully confirm. If its civil war then the gwon makes sense as thats what it hints. If its not civil war, rhodey was captured during a routine colonoscopy
