Holy hell, second place!

Lady Tears II, funnily enough, I directly tie into my finding the Supra youtube way back when (before the land of Discord even existed.) I didnt have a PS2 and didnt get to experience the fever dream that is the entirety of the Shadow Hearts series, but the whole strings and percussion thing it had going on made me fall in love with it. What little piano is there is perfect, too, BECAUSE it's not hogging the spotlight, it's an accent.

I really should push for it in VGMC again this year. I tried my first year here and it got shot down during noms.

As the Fog parts on the never-ending night and players become their alter-egos, tiny motes of blue light begin to appear with humming noises. A moment passes, and a slender chain launches out of the light, striking at a nearby player. Looks like it's time to run or suffer.

A Chain Hunt has begun! The chains will continually harass ALL players until someone locates The Box. What does this mean?
- Most active abilities are automatically blocked.
- Most passive abilities are deactivated.
- Votes may not be removed or moved once cast.

The Box will make its presence known at a later time. The Chain Hunt will only end under certain circumstances, or until the end of Night 2, whichever comes first. If the day ends before The Box makes itself known, it will make its presence known during the night, though the Hunt will continue.

With 15 players alive, a majority of 8 votes is necessary to condemn a player. Day 2 will end on Saturday, November 4th at 9:00 PM Eastern (48 hours from now.)

RENATO LYRA - SOLO QUEUE Reliant Neurodivergent.
You are a young musician from Brazil and quickly went through schooling in your early years, being vaguely somewhere on the autism spectrum - you were bullied a bunch as a child, as you always found puzzles easier to figure out than people. You were, however, extremely close with your sister Thalita, and as you grew up, she guided you through social situations and gave you a purpose in life - initially encouraging you to practice as a musician, where you learned through charity performances that helping people was its own reward.

Eventually, Thalita and you started a kite-fighting business, and during the nighttime cleanup from a debut tournament you two hosted, Thalita noticed - and took down - a mechanical drone with her kite, and both crashed in the forest bordering the tournament site. You went to look for the kite and drone and happened across a panicked man in the forest pleading for help. In front of you, the man perished as two long blades pierced through his torso, slicing your arm. Thalita arrived then and urged you to run, as the owner of the drone, a tall woman with a diamond-studded facemask and the blood from the freshly gutted man staining her body, gave chase. Blindly you kept up with your sister as you ran to a... beach? Thalita called it a beach? All you saw was the treeline melt away to a strange factory with some black fog, and you were separated.

Reliant: You are wholly reliant on Thalita to navigate trickier situations in life. If Thalita's player is eliminated, you are no longer able to vote unless the game is at MyLo/LyLo. Your Neurodivergent trait is also neutralized.

Neurodivergent: You find puzzles easier to understand than people. At night, you may target a player with an action. You are able to determine any actions taken by or taken against that player, but not who performed them. You will also appear on this as "Someone was tracking motion."

Much like what happened with the poor cat, the hook clatters to the ground and the body transforms, this time into a much smaller shape. PeaceFrog was also...

VICTOR DESHAYES - SOLO QUEUE Regenerator Twin Bonded.
You are a stunted, gremlinesque living corpse of a small teenage boy, often mistaken for a baby when in motion. You and your conjoined twin sister Charlotte have led a hard life - your mother Madeleine was a kindly soul, but was burned at the stake for witchcraft after years of hiding you under Charlotte's clothing. The angry mob sold you to a cult worshipping the Entity, and after a time, they attempted to ritualistically slaughter you both. You screeched and knocked a candle off an altar, causing a terrible fire which your sister escaped, but you perished from the smoke and flames.

Your sister, against all laws of biology, fled with your body intact but dead in her breast. She subsisted on a life of vagrancy, hiding your corpse beneath more scraps of stolen clothing and murdering for food and shelter where she could, with a stolen farmer's sickle in hand.

On one frozen night when hypothermia and starvation began to take your sister, the cult's power took effect: you suddenly awoke from death, and, with a sickly wrenching noise, detached from her now-exposed ribcage. Out of more curiosity than horror or pain, she followed you into a black fog that appeared from nowhere, where you two had the familiar comfort of a purpose in life - to hunt those that shunned you.

Also, outside of a Mafia game, you're rarer than a bloody unicorn. Who plays Twins these days, anyways?

Regenerator: If you, as Victor, are eliminated while Charlotte's player still lives, your flip will not post and you will be considered as "dead" for the following day or night phase as appropriate. The game will be notified of your death and revival, but not any other information. You may not post in topics or take actions during the time when you are "dead" or you will be removed from the game. For the purposes of this trait, you are not considered to be Victor until the beginning of an even day, and remain so until the night phase of an even day ends.
Twin: You are inextricably linked to your sister. If Charlotte's player is killed at any point during the day or night while they are is Charlotte, you will also be killed and unable to regenerate, and your flips will be posted as normal. If Charlotte's player was killed as Thalita, you lose access to your Regenerator trait, but may still vote and use your Mason chat.
Bonded: By your very nature of being a conjoined Twin, you have access to a private Mason Discord chatroom with Charlotte's player (monitored by the Host/any co-hosts.) Both of your Killer and Survivor roles will be visible to each other. Access to chat in this Discord is removed during Thalita/Renato day, but remains open if one of you is dead.

Nier was my favorite game on the 360. Nowadays, though, I'd probably go for a newer Harvest Moon (because Stardew Valley came along and cannibalized the corpses of all the good ones before it.)

As what passes for daylight in this realm appears, the hook on which the dead ginger tomcat was eliminated clatters to the ground. It strikes with a meaty thump, and beneath it lies Ulti's corpse, transformed. He was also:

Pfft, she didn't think it was that easy to get rid of a galactic apex predator with, did she? I mean, you technically were dying from decompression when Ripley ejected you out of the airlock, but since the Fog rolled in shortly after, and plays loosely with concepts of "alive" and "dead" when it takes people or creatures...

ANYWAYS... you are one of the physically youngest Killers in the Fog, being a highly-evolved, chitinous monstrosity born from the chest cavity of your race's first contact with humanity. The Entity being what it is, it has stripped away some of your natural defenses, such as your acidic blood and acute lethality and replaced it with the ability to speak to your peers in this Trial, but you're still a natural-born tracker.

Inhuman: Biologically speaking you're part-human (and if the novelization by Alan Dean Foster is anything to go by, you have some of the drives of one... ick.) You look nothing of the sort, with your eyeless grimace, elongated head, lash-like tail, and crawling gait when on the prowl.

Predator: You weave through tunnels and vents in the landscapes of the Entity's realm throughout the night and keep your ear (?) out for footsteps while stalking a target. You may use a night action target a player. If anyone visits your prey, you will be notified.

Time slows to a crawl, and the Host addresses the assembled players. "Yes, this is why "Roles" were renamed as "Traits." Everyone's "Role" as Survivor or Killer will be trading off at the beginning of every day. Every player has a new set of 1-3 traits for their new Role. With this reveal, there are no traits named "Survivor" or "Serial Killer."

Night extends to 9:00 pm on Thursday, November 2nd to allow for distribution of new role DMs and acclimation to your new roles. No more night actions may be taken, and you will not officially change into your alter ego until the beginning of Day 2. You will continue to swap back and forth until the end of the game, but are still considered to be your Day 1 Role until Day 2 begins.

You are literally a cat. I am not making this up.

Okay, fine, more details. You are the ship's cat of the Nostromo, the spacefaring equivalent of a tugboat. You were placed into bio-stasis with the lone survivor of the crew, Ellen Ripley, after she launched a previously unknown lifeform - born from the carcass of a crewmate - out of an airlock into space. The Fog rolled in and engulfed all of the Nostromo very shortly after the beginning of your stasis - and its surroundings - bringing you into The Entity's realm when you woke up. With plenty of interesting new spaces to explore and loyalty to no one but the humans (they occasionally feed you!) you can't do much, though the Entity has at least given you a fair shot at remaining the center of the universe by giving you a voice in elimination proceedings.

Feline Grace: As a cat, you are fiercely independent and almost beneath notice. Your modus operandi is to take to hiding until it's most convenient to startle someone, which probably got a lot of your fellow passengers on the Nostromo killed. This does not keep you safe from hostile intent, unfortunately, but what do you care? You're a cat. Intentions are beneath you.

1.) "Roles" have been swapped out for "traits." Players will have 1-3 traits by default.
2.) Etiquette: Please play to win - do not deliberately sabotage the game out of frustration. It is a game. We are ostensibly all working adults, and if you want to bring certain bigoted views or commit TOS violations, do it on your own time. Also, there is a line between "No, that's fucking stupid" and "no, you're fucking stupid." The former is acceptable, within reason. The latter is not. If you have personal distaste for a player, keep it out of the game - and remove them from your block list, because it's awfully hard to debate against a wall. Lastly, try and limit the amount of posts with naught but images, videos, and sound clips - Fandom is quite annoying enough with it already, thank you.
3.) Start and end times of days/nights: Days last for ~48 hours or until someone is eliminated by vote. Standard "End of Day" will fall at 9:00 PM Eastern time. Night lasts for at least 23 hours, subject to change based on circumstances
4.) Actions: Day actions may be submitted up until 24 hours before the scheduled End of Day. Night actions may be submitted as quickly as the start of the night, but are due a minimum of one hour before the start-of-day, and will resolve after I have determined interactions between who has done what.
5.) Votes, votals-keeping and Stop calls. Keep your votes and actions taken clear. The easier it is to follow what you're attempting, the easier it is to keep the game going. Use this with ##vote: <target> or ##unvote - I will attempt to keep votals accurate. Self-voting is not allowed. No posting after Stop calls! You are liable for refreshing before you post to not violate this. "NIghttime" is considered a Stop until the next Day.
6.) Flavor meta at your own risk. You can lie about your flavor, if you like, but do not attempt to use the copypasted wording from your DM as an argument for "wait why would that happen Isquen said this." Flavor does not necessarily equate to alignment nor ability - and if I've been warned for modkilling over it in the past, so shall you be. If you have any questions about your flavor, I encourage you to look up your assigned character.
7.) Flips: Flips for dead players will occur at the start of day, and also at the end of voting. Once a flip is posted, the death is final.
8.) Deletions and edits: Please refrain from deleting or heavily editing posts, as well; doing a minor typo fix is inevitable, but changing your entire argument on the fly is a no-no.

Dead by Daylight is an assymetrical online competitive video game where The Entity pits one superpowered Killer against four Survivors in a "Trial" where Survivors ultimately have a goal to repair up to five stationary generators to power two exit gates and escape... to a campfire where they await the next Trial. The Killer, meanwhile, attempts to do just that: attack Survivors, wounding or knocking them down, and skewering them on meat hooks to offer them to the Entity.

Survivors and Killers each gain access to a selection of four perks, one burnt offering, and one item (for Survivors) and one power (set for each Killer.) Survivors and Killers both can use two add-ons to modify either their survivor item or Killer power, with the ultimate goal being one that benefits the Entity - feed off the hope of the survivors and the pain and death that the Killer inflicts before the Survivors reappear at the bonfire.

What does this mean from a Mafia game standpoint? Well, you have been chosen by the Entity and pulled into The Fog to play a game of hope. A game of fear. A game... of Mafia. Yes, there will be some broad strokes here. Just deal with it.

TRAITS: Every player has received one to three "Traits" in lieu of roles. Some Traits may just be for flavor, some may have passive abilities attached to them, and some have activated abilities attached to them. If your Trait does not mention "take an action" then it is not an active ability.
ALIGNMENTS: Every player has been told SOLO QUEUE is the term for Town.
HELP I DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE TERMS MEAN: Look, I'm sorry. I enjoy writing, and I occasionally forget that not everyone enjoys reading. Here's an outline on some common terms that may or may not be relevant.
"The Entity:" The Entity is the overseeing force of the constant cycles of slaughter, sacrifice, and fleeing for your life. It manifests in the real world as a black mist or fog, vanishing chosen people, creatures, and locations with ties to the occult or extreme violence.
"The Entity's Realm": The Entity's Realm is an alternate dimension adjacent to our own. The Entity is known for imperfectly recreating zones special to those it abducts. Sun may or may not be shining, but tufts of black fog obscure visibility after a couple dozen meters or so.
"The Fog": A cloud of darkness or mist, usually tied to the disappearance of people the Entity abducts. It manifests in lower concentrations all throughout the Entity's Realm, to the point where those within it sometimes call the Realm "The Fog" as shorthand.
"Trial": The Entity is believed to survive off of a constant cycle of hope and the despair of pain and death. To do so, it pits four souls against one in a "Trial" where the four must repair generators while evading the lone soul. These generators will power an exit door, where the four souls can escape to perform another Trial. Meanwhile, the lone soul is urged on by the Entity to wound and eliminate the other four. Either way, the five will find themselves around a bonfire until another Trial commences.
"Survivor": One of the aforementioned four souls. They are humans from the past, present, and future who have been abducted by the Fog for one reason or another, and are stuck in a constant loop of bonfire -> Trial -> death or escape -> bonfire.
"Killer": The aforementioned lone soul. They also are humans or creatures from the past, present, future, or parallel dimensions. If they do not comply with the Entity and try to hunt down the Survivors, they get warped in some way, such as Evan MacMillan, also known as the Trapper, being tormented with hooks through his flesh. (Evan will not be appearing in this game, this is just for demonstration.)

There may have been other terms used in your DM. If you have further questions, please DM me, but be wary that I can not provide any information that might affect the game outcome.

169. Friday the 13th: The Game

It was a love letter to the films, even with the very occasional glitch in the code, and they got dumped on for it :( Big sad. Kinda sucked to play in random lobbies though, you NEEDED a full stack.

All DMs have been sent. Game will begin in a bit less than 24 hours; I will create the topic proper a few hours beforehand.

Replacements may still sign up, if they wish.

Deltarune, for me, is a game where my interest was dead on arrival due to two things in particular: its rabid fanbase, and my distaste for an unfinished work with an eternal cliffhanger. Same thing happened with the Game of Thrones book series (went "meh" after book 2) and Harry Potter way back before Half-Blood Prince released and we all learned J.K. Rowling was a shit.

Like yes, the humor is still there, but I'm likely to be in my 50s or 60s when it's finally done. Can't get invested in much but the music.

As for the others- World of Goo is a game I still hear pretty frequently (it's one of the only non-shitty games being played in the children's department at work.) Children who play it just never have the attention span to get to the spooky part of the game, I noticed.
