It's beautiful, but I'm not digging the gameplay. I've only finished the first mission, so I'll give it a little more time to see if it grows on me, but they are definitely not getting any cash out of me.

I saw the title of this thread and thought "that is not an endorsement." I hope you all enjoy the game, but I can't imagine spending all of that time before hitting one major milestone. Remember when you had to play a game several times to rack up 100 hours? Remember how that was before you had jobs or responsibilities? I am a bit envious, I'll admit. I spent more time playing Blitzball at the first save point I possibly could than I did beating the main game. Milk whatever aspect of the game you like to its fullest. Love it and enjoy it. But man, how do you make time for that? THAT is a skill I don't know.

It's good album, but not one I'm likely to dive back into soon. I like how they can change so seemlessly in a song. Definitely an example of why you have to listen to every song all the way though to really get it. It's also an album that kinda just told me that they're Brits, which I didn't know when I only knew them for "Take Me Out." Unfortunately there just wasn't anything that stood out as something I would need to put on a playlist, other than the afore mentioned single.

Sometimes, everything does suck. It's not a bad day, it's maybe not even a series of bad days. Sometimes it's actually a series of days that individually aren't bad, but they also aren't great, and you don't foresee a change in that pattern. That's what really got to me at my lows... I felt like I was in a holding pattern of "this is the future" and it really brought me down. A day at an amusement park might revitalize you short term, but it's costly, it wears off, and it obviously can't be something you think of as your goal.

What helped me was to come up with a plan. I don't even know for sure if I can execute it. I don't even know if I need ot execute it. What I needed was a plan on how to move forward, something to work towards, something that makes me happy(?) to want to work toward.

I have just barely made my way to this point, but I feel better than I have for most of my life. Make a plan. Set a goal. Give yourself a thing to work on that you would like to achieve, even if it seems like it is out of reach for you. If you have wanted to do it in the past and other have told you that you can't, fuck them. You can. Those people are like crabs in a bucket. They like to drag others back down to their level if they see someone doing even a little better.

The truth is, as far as my life experience has taught me, having a goal puts you in the best place you can be emotionally. Achieving it can give you a high, but it wears off. You will have to find a new goal to achieve. But the biggest thing that keeps you from creating goals that you could achieve, let alone perusing them, are other people telling you that you can't.

Other people can be like crabs in a bucket. They'd rather pull you down than see you succeed when they can't. Analyze your personal relationships and find the people who tell you that you can't live the life you want to live, the people who tell you that you can't be happy. Then ask yourself, is it worth it to you to remain unhappy to prove them right?

Just make a plan to put yourself on the road to happiness, no matter how unlikely it is. The worst you could do is fail, and nothing will be different. The most likely thing, though, is you feel better just for trying. Even if you want to do nothing, like you're Peter from Office Space, that's a goal you could work towards and even achieve easier than you think you could. The first step is to eliminate the pattern you've made for yourself that has created personal stagnation.

I've played all three of within those in the last year. If we discount phone games, most of which are just time fillers, I probably play more games from the 80s than the present. I love that we can do so much more with games these days, but sometimes can does not equal should. You could make a Pac-Man game with a million different mazes, but should you? Ehhh. There's a mobile Pac-Man game and I don't know how many mazes there were, but most of them weren't good. Also, why do they think there needs to be a tutorial to play Pac-Man?

So many classics are just great exactly as they are.

Just one? THAT's hard. I mean if you said between 1993 and 2003, that gets hard. But there are tons of classic games that hold up and really don't need any improvement. Ms. Pac Man, Super Mario Bros, Tetris... All of those games play perfectly, and the graphics really don't need any punching up.

Went with Xenogears. I almost said none, because HD remakes are way overdone, but as others have said, it could use the help.

For those saying SotN doesn't need a remake... I do agree, but I was doing a replay of it when the metroidvania humble bundle hit and switched over to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and, wow, does its age show. But it doesn't need a remake. I mean, you want some fancy new graphics and a game that feels more or less just like SotN, it exists.

Haven't seen, haven't really read comments, maybe want to watch it, especially if it is awful. I mean, let's be real, the game was Mario Kart battle mode with every 90's edgelord trope you could possibly fit into a game. It was the one game you could go to the mall to buy and pick it up at Hot Topic instead of EB games. And, if you were lucky, they'd have a special, and you could get a finger armor with it.

Bring it on.

I haven't seen it yet, but I already hate the change to Annette. I don't care about her ethnicity, I almost never care when they change that since very few characters are defined by that. I hate that it means her relationship to Maria will be changed. Your siblings are absolutely something that helps define you as a person, and certainly can/should do so for fictional characters.

Otherwise, looks good. Hopefully I remember this in a month (or see someone post about it here).

Trump will likely do worse than last time. The hardcore followers won't abandon him, but everything from Jan 6 onwards related to him is going to drive some people away from him and basically no one toward him. It also doesn't help him that state GOP parties in the swing states where lawsuits were pursued are broke because of the pointless legal battles and recounts.

Lets be honest, with the absolutely massive amount of entertainment that is out there, many people now just want some light and fluffy reading if they want to read at all. A novel is usually going to take far more time than a movie, and when a person has chosen to read for leisure I don't blame them for not wanting to do any heavy lifting. Life itself offers plenty of opportunities to engage in heavy lifting.

Yep. There is not a single policy that the Republican party would push that actually has popular support nationwide. They've turned to culture wars because they'd otherwise be irrelevant at the national level. Even in red states, we're seeing abortion bans being defeated. No one wants to get rid of Obama Care anymore, since it works. Most people have figured out that the Democrats are the party that are actually fiscally responsible, even if it's because they are forced to. Everyone has witnessed that the Supreme Court has turned into a joke. We live in some strange reality where instead of treating the Russians with deep suspicion, we now have a former President who went on TV and asked Russian hackers to attack one of his political opponents. They have no real values anymore, not even the ones the used to have, and they only exist to stand in the way of and frustrate the adults in the room that are trying to find solutions to the problems we face.

I was just trying to come up with other examples of "young woman expressing the difficulties of pursuing love and happiness while being a modern pop singer" that we've covered during Rank the Tracks. I was being a bit overly broad in definition to show why I was getting such a strong Carly / Taylor connection.
Here's the problem with that, as I see it. Lorde and Kero Kero Benito never saw themselves as fitting into the mainstream idea of what that would be in the first place. Neither of them made any effort to target that audience. They also both created a serious division between their pesona as musician from that as a person. Neither meant to be pop, necessarily, and neither tied to talk about relatable things in a relatable way. That KKB album we listened to was as personal as a field manual. and I relate beter to that than the music Lorde as put out. *Shrug*

There was just this weird sense of unreality that passed over me at some spots in this album.

In an alternate reality, somebody is listening to a Taylor Swift album and asking themselves "why does this seem so much like Carley?" I don't know Sigrid, but I can say for sure that comparing either of those two to Kero Kero Bonito or Lorde just does not even make sense. The audience is totally different. In fact, I think if you compared Kero Kero Bonito to Lorde you would understand why the comparison just does not even work.

No one outside of Texas, or without specific knowledge of Texas laws, could ever have gotten this. In Arizona, the default understanding is that toothpaste, toothbrushes are taxable, restaurant food is probably taxable (but maybe not, if SNAP benefits can be applied in that area), and non-restaurant food may be taxable depending upon the local municipality laws.

If your goal was to educate others about either Texas's laws and their peculiar oddities or to point out how odd taxation laws are broadly, I guess you get a point. If you wanted someone to answer the question you posed correctly, you lose all the points. This is such a weird factoid level of information that only the best trivia nerds might happen to remember it some day.
