I think Frieza-level Alex finds new and creative ways to torment people. I agree that he's driven by depravity - I guess I just think you can be more creative with depravity than with power? Part of me thinks Alex's worldview would be "enhanced" by being at Frieza levels. He considers himself an intellectual, out to experience sensory pursuits, and I feel like unleashing that on a universal scale is asking for trouble. Like he has the full run of the universe to exploit. Countless planets, countless species. The big question for me there I guess is would he be content to "settle" on a smaller scale when he has so much available, and I'm not sure that he would be.

I guess I mean Alex with Frieza's powers, not really his empire. That's how I've been trying to treat the "swapped positions" hypothetical. Alex starts with Frieza's abilities and in Frieza's world, and vice versa. (I had a good time imagining the Wicked Witch as a Sith.)

To me a hypothetical Frieza-level Alex still commits horrible, personal evil. Maybe not quite the same examples as he would as a normal human, but I still think he goes out of his way to rape and murder huge chunks of beings, just because he can, much like he does in canon. Whereas Alex-level Frieza is...a mob boss, I guess? Or at least running some sort of criminal empire. Which is still bad, sure.

Like I don't think Alex has any interest in running the same sort of operation as Frieza - it's not his style. He just wants to have fun. That feels more evil to me.

What's worse, killing an entire planet or raping an entire planet and leaving them alive to deal with their trauma, and the threat that you might come back again? Alex with Frieza's scope engages in more depravity. Frieza's a tyrant but he's only interested in murder in so much as it serves his business needs and his galactic order. Alex kills for fun.

Yawgmoth seems like a clear step above.

Although Luca isn't lacking in ambition - he "conquers the city-states of Jowston" and presumably makes life miserable for their inhabitants, or at least he would if given the opportunity. It's not quite on the same level as making entire planes into hellscapes, but it's something.

For me the kicker is swapping positions. I'm not sure if Pennywise does worse in the Frieza slot - does he spread his influence globally, universally even? He's a cosmic entity, but does he stop himself? Does he have a limit? It sounds like he does. Frieza in the Pennywise slot would be an even pickier eater than Pennywise. Whether that's good or bad, I don't know.

Leaning Frieza but this was a fun topic to read.

Good point, I think this tips it for me. Lecter has shown some attachment to at least two people (his sister and Clarice). Bill has a posse of underlings but IIRC he doesn't care about them at all beyond how they can provide him with mayhem. Everyone is disposable to him.

So I guess that's a vote for Bill.

Toughie. Lecter does have the Freudian excuse backstory of watching his sister get disemboweled and eaten before his eyes (and possibly being fed her too). I always got the sense that Bill was a troll more than anything, but so is Lecter sort of? Lecter doesn't seem to operate under any sort of malice, it's more like a game to him, a game he's convinced he's too intelligent to lose, so he's just having fun.

Meanwhile Bill is sort of a malevolent trickster god. He's evil for sure (and he knows it) and he likes to make people suffer, all to cause chaos and disruption. Bill has a huge temper, which IIRC Lecter never demonstrates.

Hmm.

Does Lecter ever hurt children? Bill very obviously does.

Other Mother operates on a smaller scale, but put her in Hans Landa's position and she arguably commits even worse atrocities than he does. Meanwhile give Hans Other Mother's powers and he's probably more...dispassionate about it? Like it's almost more business-like for him. Whether that's better or worse is up to you, I guess, but I think Other Mother takes it for me. Fascinating match!

Yes lol. I also really like female metal singers in general, certainly compared to male metal singers. Not that I know that many female metal singers, but IIRC the ones I've heard I liked.

Thawne seems to explicitly think of himself as a villain and does things to further his villainy. Frieza, on the other hand, seems to think of himself as a businessman, albeit one who revels in being especially cruel. I don't think Frieza thinks what he's doing is wrong, whereas Thawne might actually think he's wrong but does it anyway (out of predestination?).

Not sure where I'm going with this but it's interesting to think about.
