I actually saw both bohemian rhapsody and rocketman. Didn't like rocketman despite liking Elton John that guy who sang the lion king right. I think cuz i hate that actor who portrays him he rubs me the wrong way.

I weirdly liked bohemian rhapsody and didn't understand why everyone hates rami malek so much, until I found out the entire movie's events was fictional, almost all the story beats. Still, it was a real eye opener. I was suddenly hit with a case of "Holy crap I know that song!" during almost every music sequence. Turns out it was queen music this entire time.

10 years ago I would have said yes. 20 years ago I would have said hell yes. But it doesn't taste as good as it used to, regardless of memes regarding the microwaved food quality.

Heh modern day cowboy this time, not old west. It came out the same year as his other cowboy movie.

It tries to trick you by having a predominantly black cast, but its just another "troubled youth (this time inner city teen) goes to a farm/the country and does farm work and learns to be a better person" story which we saw all the time especially in the 90s, Disney being big fans of the trope.

It was okay overall. Not the best but the urban cowboy motif was just different enough and I always like these character driven stories more.

Is boba tea only a California thing because I haven't even seen it in Washington yet. Sure I haven't actually been looking or asking for it yet but still.

Invest in low fee mutual fund/ETF that covers the whole market or a segment of the market like the S&P 500. Something like VTI or SPY. If you continue to put money in throughout the years you'll do fine.

I'm fine with putting that money in and leaving it alone for years, trusting that it will grow to a much larger number, if that's how it works? Since I'm not married I dont see myself needing to dip into it any time soon, but you never know when or if a big expense might come along.

Set up a brokerage account and invest in low risk stuff if you're worried about losing your money.

If you're super risk adverse, don't invest any money that you think you might need in the immediate future or buy short term treasury bills or something.

If you're super giga risk adverse find a high yield savings account.

This is money I feel comfortable taking out of my savings account in order to invest or divest or whatever its called. Like if I lose it all it would suck bad but I wouldn't be destitute.

NFTs are complete trash right now. You could have made money off NFTs like a year or two ago, but they're nothing at the moment.

Crypto in general is down bad and is mostly just scam projects and coordinated PNDs. I made a killing in 2021-early 2022, but I would not recommend entering crypto now. Maybe when next bull comes

I actually tried googling how to do the bitcoin thing last year. I thought wait why don't I just buy the bitcoin with my money, sit on it, then sell it. Sounds so easy.

But when I went to the bitcoin website apparently the max you can put in is 3k or something while the bitcoin (at the time) was 16k. So I went oh. Ohhhh. That's why millionaires and rich people haven't broken it by literally just buying it all and sitting on it.

I have 2 sets of friends. 1 is like "invest! If you invest you'll become a millionaire. And the other set of friends are in crypto. And they swear by it, how they're making a profit and everything. Not just crypto, the nft thing too.

But I dont know how. I have around 50k saved and I don't know what to do with it. The bank offers investment portfolios but they only offer pennies worth of returns really.

Do I get into gold trading? Converting that money into gold might be good because of the rumor that gold never depreciates, but I'm still unsure.

Do I put 10k into 5 different stock options, 1k into 50 stock options? But I dont even know how to do the stock market thing.

I just dont ever want to live paycheck to paycheck like I hear about from so many around me. I want to live comfortably regardless of whats going on in my personal life

So I started using antiperspirant again which has aluminum so of course my armpits started itching again in the beginning.

I try to resist, but sometimes the itchiness is crazy bad. So then I did this weird thing... instead of scratching it, I... started pulling at the armpit hair from the root to relieve the itchiness. Its the darnest thing, not only does it weirdly help in relieving the itching but has the benefit of removing the armpit hair which I get tired of trimming and have been debating lasering for years

The thing is they don't make it seem comedic or that subversive, its like between the Indiana Jones gun/sword scene and playing it straight and it just doesn't work. If you're gonna do a bit commit to the bit. Or rather, don't do it at all.

I didnt care about any of the characters, they weren't interesting nor compelling at all. Lakeith Stanfield (who was previously great in judas and the black messiah) plays a dishonorable outlaw and it doesn't make him seem like a badass or interesting to watch at all yet the movie seems to make us think he is.

And they're trying to portray Idris Elba as a badass but in a fistfight with Deon Cole he literally resorts to taking out his pistol and pistol whipping him instead of fighting man to man fist to fist. That's not badass thats wormtail/tongue levels of deceitfulness. Makes you wonder why nobody bothers shooting him when this is going down. Why bother with the illusion of fisticuffs and wasting the audience's time? It makes no sense both movie wise and character wise.

So the plot is basically an outlaw (played by Idris Elba) kills Jonathan majors parents and leaves him alive but puts a scar on his forehead, a scar of those Jesus cross things. He grows up to be an outlaw himself, only he's an outlaw who steals from other outlaws rather than from banks themselves. And he eventually finds where Idris Elba is and goes there to take his revenge.

The plot twist is Idris Elba was his brother the whole time and thats why he didn't kill him! Wow much amazing, very surprise. Powerful and exciting

With Jonathan majors and Idris Elba.

I came across the perfect phrase to describe all these netflix original movies like this and gray man and power of dog and enola holmes with a star studded cast: aggressively mediocre.

If it weren't for the cast these movies would barely qualify as b-movies. And when I say cast I'm not talking about Jonathan majors because this guy is just super annoying and I dont get his sudden rise to fame, its everyone else like zazie beats, lakeith stanfield, even Idris Elba.

I feel like they wanted to bring back cowboy movies and were like no one's ever really done black cowboy story, lets do that! But the genre already reached its peak in the 90s, with tombstone being the best played straight cowboy movie, and unforgiven being the best deconstruction cowboy movie.

Flash was one of the biggest box office bombs of all time. I can't imagine that they wouldn't lost even more money if they just wrote it off like the Batgirl movie.

It's not as if they needed to do Flashpoint before Gunn's new-DCU could happen. I know DC loves their cosmic retcons to "explain" reboots, but there's nothing that would've stopped them from simply doing a hard reboot with Gunn's Superman movie.

What's funny is, wasn't Michael Keaton also cameoing in the Batgirl movie too? Felt like a choice between which movie to release and which to scrap.

Well Leonard getting penny always came across as more nerd wish fulfillment especially in the early seasons when she has pity sex with him and stuff, so they don't have the best chemistry although the show does joke about it and him "wearing her down"

With Howard I wouldn't say he was good at the start so much, the whole point of why he's the best character is because he has the most improved growth during the show's run, from an annoying creep to a likable, responsible husband and father and even astronaut.

I mostly like Sheldon and Amy, its always funny to go back and see how the writers tried to get work out her character's personality from just "female Sheldon" to another smart scientist with her own quirks.

What they do with raj throughout the show's run borders on downright racist but I did a topic on that few months back.

Yeah it's just a sad situation. Why didn't she just use her millions to go to a fat camp and fat resort there are so many around the country especially California. They charge by the tens of thousands per week but they actually work if you put in the effort to eat healthy and exercise daily plus surely Disney money and an endorsement deal would take care of that. Not gonna lie shameful as it is to say when I was a teen yeah I probably made fun of her weight too so I'm not surprised by this story, poor thing.

Its just that there are so many avenues to take care of yourself health wise but I dont really agree with tough love or fat shaming, it doesn't work for everybody and shouldn't have to

Fucking Bruce Timm. The thing is I still love most of his work and love his designs especially the women. Its just this weird hangup he has with Batgirl and batman. Straight up cucking Robin which was gross then but even grosser now (it keeps compounding every year in grossness)

I will say this, first couple seasons its a bit annoying because its about these loser nerds doing nerd things, but once they get girlfriends the show improves dramatically. By season 3ish / 4ish when Amy is introduced it becomes just like a normal sitcom, the addition of the girls is the best thing that could have happened to the show.

Part of the reason I'm so uninterested in these movies is that I have zero clue how they're connected, which actors are playing which version of a charactee, and what's even canon.

Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. I have no problem watching standalone movies. But if you tell me a movie is part of a series and I can't figure out where it even fits in the series that's a huge issue.

Also if the standalone movies were even remotely good instead of you know, obviously garbage. Standalone is fine, not everything has to be interconnected. But its not like their movies are any good either, be it standalone or otherwise.

They didn't/don't really have a choice on the matter. These movies have been in development hell for years, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on them.

So the big brain move of just not releasing them isn't really a option.

And yet they didn't write them off like with the Batgirl movie people were actually mildly interested in seeing (as a possible the producers-esque scheme) by comparison?

That's a big part of the issue though, isn't it? DC is putting out movies right now that they're essentially telling everyone don't matter because they've announced they're rebooting the whole thing with gunns new superman movie that comes out in 2025.

Yeah for me the final straw in losing faith was rumors that they're insisting on bringing that crummy actress gal gadot back from those garbage wonder woman movies. Its clear they just can't commit to clean slate and the foul stench of Snyder and all things related
