how long until you have perfect vision? how much was the surgery? how old are you , you do know that it does not correct for reading glasses and stuff and you will still need that

I was seeing 20/15 about 36 hrs post op. I'm military so I didn't pay anything out of pocket. I'm 35 but the doctor mentioned that eye deterioration with regard to seeing up close will happen as I get older, but I've not seen any effects of that.

They offer you some drugs to decrease anxiety.

Yep, forgot to mention that. Prescribed a Valium and popped it 45 minutes prior to surgery.

Lasik is wild. They numb your eye with eye drops to start. The first machine creates a suction on your eye to cut the flap (well not really cuts but bubbles it open; look up a video, it's crazy) and the green light you're told to look at disappears due to your vision going black/blurry. You're conscious the whole time though.

Then you walk over to the machine that does the vision correction. There's what looks like a mild red and green laser making all these patterns in your eye while the doctor verifies all the settings and your positioning on the table. However the actual laser is UV so you don't see it. You smell it. It creates ozone gas when it comes in contact with the air. I didn't feel it penetrate my cornea, nor was there any pain. Just a bit uncomfortable due to my eyes watering a bit.

The first 24 hrs of the healing process included a nap the first day and a lot of light sensitivity mixed in with some mild burning/stinging in the eyes. The majority of it went away after about 8 hrs. Reminds me of getting dust or something in my eyes and having to keep them closed for a while. Also the first week entails a fuckton of eye drops. No joke, hourly steroid drop. Every 3-4 hours for an antibiotic, and then regular eye drops every 10-30 minutes for dry eyes.

All of this to say it's worth it. I can see better than I did with glasses now.

it could be better. the 4 times a day one is easy, the hourly one is kind of off due to naps and resting.

i wouldn't say glued, maybe a few minutes at a time every couple hours.

Do I need the newest procedure? And is it still annoyingly expensive?

SMILE? i've heard good and bad things, but i went with Lasik because my corneas were thick enough and it has a shorter healing time. i wouldn't be on here if i had PRK. also i'm military so i didn't pay anything. it can be expensive like the other users have said though.

It's funny tc hasn't replied yet, probably can't read so good yet.

aside from the halo effect on a lot of stuff, the burning/stinging feeling was gone about 8 hours after surgery (and a nap). took one earlier as well.
