I don't see the problem if it's used for specific shared expenses. My partner and I have a shared account where we contribute the same amount per month, which is used for shared groceries and eating out.

The old Corollas were like the Terminator.

Can confirm, my old 1987 Toyota Corolla ran like a dream until my sister binned it after aquaplaning about 10 years ago.

Had a 2000 Volkswagen Bora until it started running super rich. Sold it to a learner driver in 2017 and bought a 2006 Subaru Forester XT with under 90,000km on the clock. Just waiting for this to blow a headgasket before I look at something like an i30n or GR Corolla.

are you in the states? idk the people I know who play rugby (not professionally) in Scotland are not posh...and the handful of people I know who played it in the states it was at state public universities

I think the quote is more referring to audiences and behaviour (here in the UK) and the roughness of the sport of football (soccer) vs rugby, but I might be mistaken

but I don't really know anything about sports
Australia, played for the University of Notre Dame Crusaders in 2012. In Sydney, the clubs were concentrated towards the affluent eastern suburbs and northern beaches, while everywhere else was more football and rugby league territory.

The other issue is mass retail apparel can be notoriously unreliable in terms of consistency, between dye lots, manufacturing facilities, and human involvement. You could have three pairs of pants of the same brand, style, etc, where each fits slightly differently depending on when and where they were originally manufactured (and sometimes even within lots from the same factory)

However, it's a lot cheaper than getting everything individually tailored, unless you're visiting nations with less expensive labor (China being one example). Of course, the thing about individual tailoring is you then have to worry about keeping your body type as consistent as possible where gaining or losing a few pounds would mean needing to make adjustments to your entire wardrobe.
The reason why I went to my current tailor is that theyll make these adjustments for free for the next 10 years. After then, itd probably be time to get a new tailored suit anyway.

but yeah a few people have told me, "football is a gentleman's sport played by hooligans and rugby is a hooligan's sport played by gentlemen" lol...
Rugby is played by private school kids while football is played by everyone. When I played rugby union for a private university, the team sheet was filled with the whitest and most preppy names I've ever seen and all the team social events were held in fancy places.

I go to Specsavers and they always have a BOGOF or buy 2, pay the price for the most expensive one. I usually just choose a decent pair and get a second one just for home.

Had a friend that ended up making bad financial decisions and getting another friend involved and we just cut all communications off.
