I have always felt that "you need to earn my respect" is the wrong way to go about it.
People always treat it as something that one has to earn, but I've always treated it as something that one can only lose.

The thing is that "respect" can mean different things. That is, respect as social status and respect as a human being. Some people think if you don't respect their status, it's okay if they don't respect you as a human being.

Literally the first thing you did in this topic was attempt to change my statement from what i said, claim I put words in Mr tooth's mouth and passionately defended Mr Tooth's nonsense

The "first thing I did" in this topic (Post 47) was agree with two other users. The second thing I did (Post 56) was to respond to another user who mentioned later videos Mark made, and concluded that Mark is a sincere person.

The third thing I did (Post 69) was criticize someone for suggesting politics isn't something to care about.

Are you even paying attention to your own topic?

She needs to be in better environment if she's looking for validation on CE. That's not a criticism against her, I just think that it's possible she isn't in the best place emotionally, and this board is um... not great when it comes to being a supportive environment.

Privilege doesn't mean your opinion doesn't matter. It doesn't mean you're a bad person. It doesn't mean you're wrong.

But privilege does mean it can be more difficult to see the view point of those who lack it. For example, people who insist that the Democratic party should meet in the middle with the Republican party.

That's a lot easier argument to sell if you happen to be in the demographic Republicans like(Or don't actively hate). It's a hell of a lot harder if you're someone they're actively trying to get killed.

A trans person who's fighting for their right to exist is likely to have a different perspective regarding preventing kids from taking puberty blockers than a cis person who never had to be afraid of expressing who they are.

His argument is that Mark likely hasn't faced the same level of racism as others have. You're the only one who's trying to suggest that means that Mark's opinion is invalid.
