Although now that I think of the question, the question is saying would you become friends with someone you already know has opposing politics. I guess it depends on how extreme the views are and as long as they don't wish to harm people. And of course, if the person is cool overall.

As you can guess by my screen name, most of my crew is into AEW and they've always spoken positively about Sonny Kiss and Nyla Rose and every time some person on Twitter says transphobic shit towards Nyla, the general consensus is that it's fucked up. Plus some have gay friends or relatives and I personally never heard anything hateful towards them.

Yeah, it's one thing to get into drawn out arguments over the internet, but one usually doesn't break out into ideological arguments when you're just hanging out and chilling with your friends. You know, in person. Where the grass is. Actual people you see every day or every other day. Not just some random screen name online.

Not really. You can discuss how your work-day went, how the family doing, current events involving your friends/family/co-workers, what games or movies are coming out without getting into politics. Like the other day someone had a shit day at work cause a co-worker got them in trouble and whatnot. Obviously it was our 'personal beliefs' that it was fucked and the boss should have listened more to both sides and blah blah blah, but I mean, it didn't explode into all out political debate or whatever.

When it comes to personal beliefs I don't personally associate myself with hateful people so I wouldn't know. Like that current thing involving the dude that was killed by 5 cops, the general consensus among my peers is that it was a fucked up thing and there was no reason for 5 cops to whup on some dude til he died and that about the gist of it. We don't bust out into hour-long discussions about defund the police, systemic racism and whatever else cause honestly, why bother. Move on to the next topic.

Now obviously a big debate or argument would break out if someone flat out said 'yeah that dude deserved to die', and I'm sure there are people like that out there, but I don't associate with people like that.

Never cared for politics. Never cared for my friends' politics nor do they are to ask about mine, if I even have any. Whenever we hang out, politics are the last thing on the table. The only politics we discuss are whatever fucked up shit the WWE or Vince is up to behind closed doors (and now AEW with the whole Punk skirmish), but my crew doesn't go any deeper than that. Life's too short.

"Who cares about politics" is a very privileged stance, especially when human rights are going out the window. I'm sure there were women out there who "didn't care" about politics.

Until one day it was decided that if they were raped, they'd be forced to carry the baby to term. Only one political party wanted that.

Guarantee I understand it's no use in arguing about or worrying about things beyond our control. All one can do is sit, watch and adapt.

I mean, what do you intend to do? Gun down the Supreme Court? So yes, who cares about politics?

It's all a big song and dance anyway. I mean Biden was pretty down in the polls, when suddenly the Republicans overturned RVW and now all Biden has to do is say he'll take care of it to become the hero again. The country is at each others throats over this nonsense while the Republicans and Democrats have lunch together laughing at you. It's all theater and you're their entertainment.

So much arguing over just being decent to people. Just don't be a dick to people. Do you go around asking everyone at the grocery store or whatever their political beliefs? Who the fuck cares? Stop letting politics consume you, in the end none of them, Republican AND Democrat politicians give a flying fuck about any of you. You're all expendable.

Probably not worth it due to the backlash afterwards. I think don't even explaining 'I only did it for the money, I swear!' would calm these people down.
