What is the "Cosby" in the show's title referencing if not Bill Cosby
I didn't say it wasn't referencing Bill Cosby lol. The point is that the title of the show is a separate reference from Bill Cosby, the person.

A_Good_Boy posted...
Bro, the show ain't called the Huxtables or the Cliff Show despite that being who Cosby plays or the name of the family in the show. The Cosby Show is not a separate entity that's completely divorced from the man that produced it. Bill Cosby may not be the Cosby Show but the Cosby Show will always be Bill Cosby.
It is a separate entity. Either way, all this amounts to is that Bill Cosby is more famous than Stephen Collins. So what? That doesn't make Collins any less of a rapist. Are you suggesting that if the show were called "The Huxtables" that it would be any different?

cjsdowg posted...
7th Heaven is on freaking Hulu and there is a documentary about how bad Bill Cosby is on there. The TC is right. Because a criminal is less famous that mess it is okay to promo his work? The Cosby Show is Cosby's show. It's literally impossible to mention the show without mentioning the man, which you've done several times already.
Fail logic. Again, it's not my fault his name happens to be in the show's title. The point is The Cosby Show and the man named Bill Cosby are two separate entities. There's more to The Cosby Show than Bill Cosby and there's more to Bill Cosby than The Cosby Show.

You (Butters) don't need to name Bill Cosby directly when talking about his show because his name is inexorably linked to his show due to his name being right in the title of it, as well as the show being a part of the American zeitgeist since it's debut 40 years ago. The same isn't true for 7th Heaven or any dads that the show may have featured, none of which you've still yet managed to name.
You can't be serious. Naming "The Cosby Show" = / = Naming Bill Cosby, the person. It's not my fault that his name just happens to be in the title.

Turtlemayor333 posted...
The Cosby Show deserves to be left in the past. I've seen every episode from when they showed it on Nick At Night, right after Full House, and it's incredible to me how little fond memory I have of any episodes.

I liked the one where he has a bad dream and The Muppets show up. That's as creative as this show ever got.

2. Cosby's fame meant his case received vastly more attention; the average viewer is more likely to be aware of his crimes.
