Women would be burned at the stake for heresy/witchcraft for wearing armor. Historical precedent is not how to go about this.

Pretty sure that this whole thread is about using real history to inform fantasy. Not sure why you're picking out my post in particular (unless it's just because it's making a point you don't like).

Armor like that was pure vanity. The dick didnt go in it and it probably was more of a hazard than actual protection. The people wearing this were likely nobility who weren't actually expected to do much combat.

Everyone who wore full suits of armour was nobility. At least in the high middle ages. And nobility would definitely fight.

Different societies also have very different norms. Just because we would think "that's just vanity, it would have no place in battle", that doesn't mean they'd think the same way. A lot of warrior societies would definitely display things in battle for the purpose of showing off, and boob armour you see in post #29 is pretty mild in that respect. Although other aspects of the suit do seem a bit odd.

Come to think about it, a lot of fantasy armour is absolutely filled with stuff that's completely ridiculous and would make it impossible to do anything. Boob armour is probably the least impractical decoration you're ever likely to see in a fantasy game. Weird that it's the one thing people complain about the most.

It's known that men had dick armour.

There's absolutely zero chance that women wouldn't have boob armour.

new take on the "i went backpacking in europe and now i am super cultured and i hate dumb americans" trope i guess

That's part of it, but countries like Vietnam have some added bonuses: if you're an average Western man, you're basically a king over there.

The cost of living is very low: however much money you had in your home country is now worth three times more (maybe four or five times more if you're from north-west Europe).

The average Vietnamese man is four inches shorter than the average white American ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Average_human_height_by_country ). If you're a short man back home, then you're suddenly average. If you're an average man back home, then you're suddenly tall. If you're already 6 feet, then you've just become a giant.

Nearly everyone in Vietnam is of SEA descent, and if you're not, then you're exotic. You can be the most miscellaneous looking man in your home country, but if you go there, you're suddenly something special.

So yes, Vietnam is probably great if you're rich and physically attractive. But then, so is just about every country. Judging by the amount of Vietnamese people who still emigrate to Western countries, and the lengths many of them take to do it, I'm guessing it's not quite so great for the average person.

why are the new generations of American "activists" being butthurt about problems that don't matter and care more about themselves and whether people are hurting their precious little feelings when tobacco users are trapped in a difficult to break cycle that leads to an inevitable death, all while the tobacco industry profits off their decline in health. Priorities, man...

The activists don't care because the tobacco companies are so evil.

A huge part of activism revolves around people trying to raise their social status within a group and show that they're one of the true, die-hard members.

That means that you have to spend your energy being an activist over concerns that are specific to whatever political tribe you're part of. There's no point in telling everyone how evil tobacco companies are, because virtually everyone thinks tobacco companies are bad. If you say that you think they're bad, that doesn't prove anything. Instead, you have to get angry about something that only a tiny group of online weirdos care about.
