TopicFollowing up on a job application: good or bad?
GBH713

Is that following up to try and curry favour, or because you've not heard back and would expect to? I've never done the former, and wouldn't take it into account for people that I've interviewed. I have once chased up interview results when I'd not heard back (I'd not gotten the job, and they'd just not told me...) and I think there's quite sensible.

It's gotten to the point where I'll call her out and she'll apologize for it but she'll do it again two days later anyway, so I'm like mentally giving up.

What if, when you don't want her to do this sort of thing, you lead by saying so? And then you talk about your problems. It might sound a bit awkward, but it should work and it sounds like the other sensible options aren't working. And if she has a problem with that, bit also keeps doing this when you've asked her not to, you can see how you feel about it.

It sucks how much vets charge these days. I had a dog that got bit by a coyote, and treating the wound and eventually having to put it down a few days later cost over $4,000. I cant imagine how much it would cost for a dog with cancer trying to save it. Sucks that putting it down would probably be the only affordable option unless you are loaded.

Is insurance for pets not very common in the US? Not asking about your situation in particular, but it seems pretty common in the UK and I can't imagine paying for vets fees without it.

I wish I was comfortable working from home. I just can't separate work from home when I WFH and it makes me enjoy the space less when I'm just trying to live my life. I can't stay focused on work at home either.

I'm pretty similar. I like having at least one day a week in the office to mix things up. Otherwise it can feel like it encroaches on my enjoyment of being at home. A lot of this will be my lack of focus which means that I'm less productive. If I was working better, I'm sure I'd find it easier to have clear boundaries between work and non work times.

I've just started not that long ago, but I'd definitely recommend speaking with your therapist if you're feeling worse because of it. I've felt better already (it's good to be doing something about this, even if it's early days) and would be quite concerned if I felt worse. I don't know how much flexibility you have in choosing your therapist, and if you've tried a few people, but I found it valuable to try a few people.

I can't actually remember the game that well (bought it as soon as it came out), but I remember it being very fine. I really wanted it to be better than it was, but it was certainly playable.

I also can't remember what they were, but I had thought that it needed some basic quality of life fixes. They were for things like how awkward it was to view a character's stats (maybe not exactly this, but something at this sort of level). Hopefully that's been patched now.

What would TC need a non Steam Deck computer for? I don't have one, but I could imagine it replacing my PC, which I basically just use for gaming. If TC needed to do something that they couldn't easily do with their phone/tablet (doing a lot of typing or working on a spreadsheet), they could just use their Deck with a dock. I'd be interested to hear if you think there are certain tasks that TC will specifically need a computer for.

Malware is more serious, but I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people use adblockers because they just don't want to see ads. And that's fine, there's no reason to pretend otherwise.

Nope. I graduated with IT specialization in Game Development and a minor in CS, trying to get a software development job but I've lowered my standards to IT help desks. Nothing yet, the emails always say I'm not a good enough fit and they've moved on to other candidates. I'm thinking I don't have enough qualifications so I might have to take a certification for DevOps or full stack. I just finished moving to a different state and I'm limited on funds so I'm hoping to get some kind of job this year but it hasn't been looking good so far.

The only interview offers I've ever had are those 2 year bootcamp non-compete offers like Revature or Dev10. Tried to do Dev10 last month but they ended up canceling all of their positions for my location.

I'd go back to them to ask for more feedback, as it sounds like you aren't already. Worst case scenario, you get nothing, but they might be able to give you some tips. I'd imagine that if you've been applying for jobs for that long, the problem might be with your applications. Do you have someone else look over them before you send them out? It might be a good idea.

I don't quite understand why you went in the direction of asking the HR manager to review your resume. If you know you signed an offer letter at a higher salary level, stick to your guns. Don't ask them to review the incorrect salary that they've given you, have them correct it.

Was the exact figure ever discussed with anyone? And did you speak to the person who made you the offer? You said that they were due too call you back. And what has your manager said about all of this? Have you gone back to HR to see if there's an audit trail, which might show any changes being made? And have you asked if there's any way this could have happened accidentally? As in, are there mechanisms in place to allow it to happen.

Also I don't know how electronic signatures work, but will it not show when you signed the document? If you look at that, does it have the date/time that you actually signed it? If it shows another date, then you've got something to work with.

I'd find it really strange if I was asked for a cheque these days.

Do you mean that playing the campaign gives a similar feeling to playing a D&D campaign? If so, not really. It's just a standard WRPG. None of these will really replicate the feel of a pen and paper game, unless you're just looking to do combat in D&D.

I used to follow comics on a regular basis for a while, but stopped over a decade ago for a couple of reasons. The cost was one, which led me to piracy, and then I realised that I just didn't think a lot of what I read was very good. For the most part, Marvel and DC superhero comics just aren't very well written. There are some exceptions, and there are great comics that don't fit into that category though.
