At some point, an entire enraged generation refused to go to Vietnam to butcher villagers and peasants. At some point, the USSR had nukes ready to blow the whole world. At some point, the media and the politicians sold a lie to engage in an illegal invasion of Iraq. At some point, the wealthy banks threw the country and whole world in recession then bailed themselves out while the commoners starved. What we see right now is an artificial crisis manufactured by the media and politics to divert attention away from the fact we are all getting royally screwed over as the wages don't keep up with inflation, the cost of living. The rich are getting richer while the majority of us are eating crumbs. We are the most educated generation ever, we are working non-stop, we did everything right and we still can't afford to have children, buy a house and the concept of retiring and living a comfortable elderly life seems all but an ideal from a time gone by. We are all getting royally screwed over but you are told the lie that a transgender woman using the wrong bathroom is what's gonna burn the country down. |

Rather, they are about him doing the right thing, the burden of carrying that immense power to do good and stay true to his principles in a world that is full of nuances. That's why his main villain (Lex Luthor) is just a mere intelligent, resourceful, resilient human but also capable of extreme narcissism, cowardice and selfishness. Both Superman and Lex are image of the best and worst humanity is capable of. If you read Superman as if it were Dragon Ball, you are reading it wrong. |
