Mimic has real good bass and cool drums, but while Im usually a fan of frantic energy in songs it feels off at some parts throughout this performance. Still a cool song overall though.

I don't immediately think Undersea Palace is top 10 worthy or wherever others have been ranking it, but it's still solid like the rest of the set has been (for the most part). The Super Arrange for Sunlight on the Water and Vengeful God are easily the best that the EO3 set has offered.

If THIS was the match that had the Super Arrange version in this, my vote would go to EO3 easily. All this time, I thought the Super Arrange was a remix of a Sonic Unleashed song (or just modern Sonic in general) that I could not find again for the life of me. And lo and behold, this contest finally solved that mystery for me.

But as is, these two songs are very close together for me. Nothing but respect for Yoko Kanno and the run she pulled off here.

I like this Falcom song, but Waltz of Nature is definitely cooler.

Town - Sunlight on the Water (Super Arrange Version)

Both very good songs today, but I feel like I'm missing the emotional context of what To Far Away Times is supposed to give me, seeing how I've yet to finish Chrono Trigger properly.

There's just something about Neuchatel that tries to mix its calmer melody with its harsher dubstep elements that sounds alright, but doesn't feel as strong as other MRD songs that I really enjoy.

The snubs today are really good. I'm just sad the channel that had all the Utawaremono music got nuked. =(

Hope Giving "Dance of the Dog's Howl"

Melty Molten was easily one of the first songs that stuck out to me back in the Wii era of gaming, I really loved the idea of "Middle Eastern/desert meets orchestra" that Melty Molten presented to me. The drums, the sitar, the "space" synths that's used throughout all of Galaxy's OST, all intertwined with an great orchestral backing to boot - it's SUCH a excellent choice for a "lava planet" stage that I feel it deserves to have a spot when speaking about the best of what Mario offers overall for music.

Dog's Howl, on the other hand....I first got introduced to the soundtrack thanks to cako, WAY back in the first year of Supracord guessing games. I had less of an idea of who Hamauzu was - I wasn't too familiar with the names of Squeenix composers, only the works themselves - but hearing Dog's Howl for the first time instantly got me hooked and I immediately wanted to know more of what Hamauzu made. The song for me is "dramatic and energetic mixed together correctly", with the strong violins, the keyboard, the cool synths, the slight pop rhythm at a certain part; I have replayed this song SO many times over the past 2 years, just to keep getting the same feeling of me being swept away for the first time.

TL:DR, I both really love and really hate this matchup. Easily two of the best songs I've ever heard in my life, and I'm both happy and sad they're facing each other like this. I'll be sad to see the loser go, but I'm so happy it'll have ended like this.

God, Match 2 is a killer choice to make. I'm happy that I'm liking the 13S songs in this contest much quicker than what we had in the last VGMC, I just wish the matches were less painful at the same time lol.

Bouncing Boss Battle is not in the upper echelon of Kirby battle themes for me (more like upper-mid tier for me) but I still really enjoy the fast-paced energy it gives out. Samsho is very cool too, I wasn't expecting the acoustic guitar today. Very happy surprise for me!

Hive Jump is also very good, I'm just sad it went up against one of my favorite tracks from Triple Deluxe.

From what I saw, guess this snubs match won't be counted? Ah well, I'll still vote for what could've been.

Match 1 is real tough; Brawl's FD is truly a classic song in the history of the series, but then MRD pulls out what's probably my 3rd-4th favorite song out of the entire soundtrack. It hurts when my scores for both are very high, but I think I know what my heart is leaning more towards. Sorry, Brawl.

Also.....man, this Kaze track is just not giving me what I expected it to. It still sounds fine, but it's nothing like what Discovery was giving me the last time Kaze appeared. Land of Luxury sounds nice and while I don't think it's anything too grand or special, I'm entranced enough with its instrumentation to feel a calm sensation from it, and that's something I really do appreciate.

Sogno is fine for what it is; I'm not opposed to listening to symphonic music like it - it's usually inoffensive at worst, pretty nice at best to me - but there's just certain decisions that the style makes that either irk me or just don't get me more invested in the piece that's playing.
