I completely disagree. You can't just hate someone out of the blue. I feel like as milennials, our schoolteachers have completely failed us on understanding the root causes of prejudice. I remember it was drilled into our heads that racism was caused by people who hated others "simply because of the color of their skin".

This is a pretty big logical fallacy. Nobody becomes a bigot because they want to be hateful. They do it because they want to protect something, whether that is a group of people, a way of life, or the status quo.

Just bought my copy. I hope it runs okay, I barely meet the minimum system requirements.

I might check out the EO collection on easy mode. Not sure about drawing maps without a touchscreen and stylus though.
The only thing I wanted from this Direct was Silksong or Deltarune, and it failed on that front. Other than those games I'm at the point in my life where new games just don't get me excited

lack of tsunku, easy baby-mode versions of songs instead of harder ones, no rhythm toys AT ALL, only a single new endless game, one of the cheapest and worst localizations Nintendo has ever put out, which is especially notable after all the love that went into localizing Fever.

More subjective critiques are that I hate how they did away with the iconic grid-based menu. I also don't care for the awful story featuring a bunch of random nonsense characters. Like imagine instead of a weird teddy bear trying to get back into heaven, we got a story featuring the characters from the actual games.

There is a shocking lack of reverence for the older games. They even retconned the actual Rhythm Heaven itself, removing it from some of the backgrounds and results screen images.

One choice, gun to my head, I'd probably have to say Space Dance. I like the song, the characters, the silly engrish.

Some of my favorites from each game:
GBA: Rhythm Epilation, Toss Boys, Space Dance, Power Calligraphy, the one with the bouncing balls which I can't remember the name of.
DS: Munchy Monk 2, Karate Man, Rhythm Rally, Spashdown, Moai Doo-Wop (yes, really)
Fever: Ringside, Bossa Nova, Flipper Flop, Board Meeting, Cheer Readers
Megamix: we don't talk about this game

I kinda want to gush about that GBA game for a minute. It's a shame it never released outside Japan, since it honestly might be the best one. I can (and have) gone from a fresh save to all perfects in a single sitting. Partly because it's way easier than the other games and partly because it's just so fun to play.

yep and when you're done with the 4th one, you never have to play that mode again!

there's an extra area called the "path of pain" and I could have sworn I was on it, but nope, just the normal route they actually expect people to do. It's crazy how far removed from the rest of the game the palace is.

The only complaint I've seen is that the some of the environments look kind of similar. Like I kinda get it, there's a lot of black wrought iron all over, but that's still not giving it enough credit

Hollow Knight is proof that good artstyle and characters can elevate a game from decent into great. If this game looked Environmental Station Alpha or something I wouldn't care. That kind of applies to that new game Earthblade that was just announced. It looks ugly and I don't care

So pretty much everything from Super Nintendo World from the Universal parks is represented. So expect to see a Donkey Kong minecart sequence in this movie.

Murder by Numbers is a visual novel picross game. I didn't get very far but people seem to like it.

I didn't much care for it. Very much an amateur low-budget Ace Attorney ripoff. The puzzles aren't really integrated into the game very well. They do an investigation style thing to find puzzles, which are the evidence. However, the areas you have to click on seem totally arbitrary. Having to do the puzzles just slows the game down and feels more like a chore when you just want to read the story

Nicely done. I remember one of those final puzzles being practically impossible with the 30 minute time limit. I had to cheat to finish it.

As for new games on the switch, there's no shortage of official Jupiter-developed Picross games. Picross S is up to like 6 or 7 games, plus a couple anime tie-ins

Pretty sure Jeff's issue was that he turned off the HUD/tooltips without knowing what the buttons did. Not really the game's fault.

The only thing in the game that controls like ass is the RC ship at the very beginning. It's weird that's one of the first things you can interact with considering how bad it is.

yes it has. "-stain" is much less common than "-stein", so I can see why you'd be confused.

I like Iconoclasts as well. Sure, the gameplay isn't 10/10 masterful or anything, but it's still fun. There are some great story moments that have really stuck with me over the years. Although if you aren't a fan of depressing, nihilist stuff you might not jive with it.

Boy after TTYD they have... almost linearly gotten worse. Not quite (Bowser's Inside Story exists, for instance), but pretty close...

immediately after TTYD they put out one of the worst games of all time, though
