Liberals found it funny Donnie insisted on three scoops and find it puzzling him eating pizza is so exciting to redcaps. Liberals don't actually give a shit if he likes pizza and ice cream.

BakonBitz posted...
I agree about that. Part of it might be nostalgia but something about the original feels more satisfying to play than TTYD, even though TTYD is great in its own right. The music style and pacing just really seem to do it for me.

This is an edge case where I feel like if I hadn't played Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario was my first Mario RPG I'd be more charitable to it. As it was, it felt bare bones to me and I appreciated TYD more as it came closer to SMRPG in scope.

It's by no means a bad game, (it's definitely a good one), it was simply very different from the last Mario RPG and not always in ways I liked.

The vast majority of the fanbase think it peaked at 3 or AAI2, occasionally 6 and GAA2. 1 is honestly rather mid in comparison and it's mainly the nostalgia value of introducing the iconic formula that gets it remembered, not that the game itself is peak.
I just don't think the series is ever as surprising as it is was the first time you get to play as a video game lawyer. That "am I really fucking doing this" thrill just isn't the same. But I'm willing to change my tune after I play GAA2 if it's better. That's the last one I need to finish.

Don't get me wrong; I think the other games you mentioned are fantastic. I love the whole series. Just nothing quite tops the magic of the first game to me. Edgeworth, Gumshoe, Von Karma..

Yeah, the number's always sort of just meant "this is the Xth actor to play the Doctor as the lead in the show."
This is why calling Gatwa the 15th doctor is going to be confusing. It's mixing in universe plot twists with real world labeling.

It feels weird they are calling him the 14th Doctor in the new specials. I was always under the impression the numbering was an out of universe thing so the fans could tell the different actors apart, making a gimmick like this throw off the numbering is just going to be confusing.

We're going to have some people just use the numbering they want and others actually be talking about how many people played the doctor.. and this isn't even including Hurt's War Doctor that we've safely tucked away as "War Doctor, doesn't count". Basically my point is that in universe he isn't even the 14 incarnation so it's confusing and mixing up in/out of universe information.

They bought me three cars so far. The first one I wrecked in like a month, the second one they got me to replace it immediately after. It was the weirdest thing, left turn someone was going around another car, trying to turn right, hit our bumpers at low speed yet it mushed it right up. Still annoys me to think of it. More recently they bought me a third car to replace the second one.

I think it depends on how you do it.

My parents, got me to "leave" the family estate at 21 years old, but they did it by gifting me a 2-bed apartment, all paid off as my 21st birthday present. They didn't really need to kick me out, I just went there of my own volition.

I still go to the family estate for meals, occasionally -- but being independent at 21 years old really allowed me to grow, and experience being an adult. It allowed me to balance my stipend from the Trust Fund with my outgoings. Sure, sometimes that $4000 a month (at the time) wasn't used correctly, and I had to go cap in hand back to my parents to help with finance for the month, but I learned from it and have become a better adult because of it.

I fear if I'd stated at the Family estate too much over 21 years old, I would not have grown as I have and instead withered.
Hahawhat

Which episode was this again? Remind me what was going on with murdering spider babies again. I do think they were going for a cheerful guy with a dark side vibe overall though. I think 9 had a bit of that going on too.

Although I watched 10 before 9 so I didn't realize Eccleston had just told Rose how Harriet Jones was going to be so awesome for Earth but yeah looking back that was a pretty extreme 180 on that character.

SO damn boring

Tons of slowly filmed scenes of them knocking around the same looking corridor and slowly pretending to climb through a cave that's basically just two rooms with the lights of.. and hanging out with these guys in the dumbest costumes.

Also no, it did not have background music. None of them really have background music at all, now that you mention it. Not yet anyway.

The first arc, Unearthly Child, while it has a decent if slow episode 1 with the mystery of the Doctor, is barely coherent and boring once the cavemen get introduced, The Daleks while it has a few amusing Dalek scenes and is interesting as a historical footnote is way too long and way too damn boring.. watching through that was suffering and I started to wonder how this show lasted this long. And Edge of Destruction.. the less said the better. It was damn near incoherent.

But Keys of Marinus is a real turning point; better adventures, better characterization, particularly of the Doctor, more narrative flow.. it's like a switch flipped that changed Dr Who from something barely recognizable as a narrative program into a flawed if entertainingly campy show. I'm watching the next arc The Aztecs now, and sure enough it's the same; mediocre special effects, but a campy and fun enough adventure with that improved character writing for the Tardis crew. Thank goodness, it was a real effort to get this far. Watching it was like watching people struggle to even figure out how you're supposed to film a tv show.

I wasn't willing to admit that to myself up to this point because I was trying to justify to myself having bought all those expensive dvds, but I feel a lot better now that I'm actually enjoying it and can admit it wasn't up to this quality before.
