INVITATION TO THE MAFIA CHAMPIONSHIP (SEASON 10)

Ahoy there! :)

Im very excited to invite your community to participate in Season 10 of the Mafia Championship.

The Mafia Championship is an annual forum-based tournament series that pits representatives from various online Mafia (aka Werewolf) communities against one another as they compete to determine the Internets greatest forum Mafia player. Each participating community democratically elects one person to represent them and be their Champion.

The tournament first started back in 2013. Since then, 370+ different communities and 50+ different nationalities have been represented.

Its a super fun event that has created many new friendships and close bonds between communities. I hope that you would be interested in taking part :)

1. DO YOU ACCEPT THE INVITATION?

If your community wishes to participate, please confirm your participation to Lissa or Arapocalypse as soon as you can to secure yourselves a spot. Currently, the plan is to accommodate 135 communities this season. If there is further interest, additional communities may sign up as substitutes; generally there are some replacements needed both before and during games.

If your community agrees to participate, the deadline for selecting your representative is April 22nd, but the sooner the better.

The games will take place on Mafia Universe. If its okay, I can link directly to the general discussion thread regarding this topic on Mafia Universe.

Important notes

• You may decide yourselves how you want to elect your representative, but we highly recommend some sort of democratic process (public nominations followed by a poll usually works out well).
• In addition to electing a representative, you should also name an alternate (a back-up) who will be asked to step in if the first choice needs to back out.
• Your representative should be prepared for having to read upwards of 600-700 posts per 24 hours during the early stages of the game. Additionally, theres a requirement that each player must make at least 10 posts per Game Day. Only active players should apply/participate. I repeat: Your chosen player needs to be able to promise a good amount of activity on a daily basis!

1. SEASON 10 FORMAT

The tournament structure
135 communities will participate, each sending one representative.

• QUALIFIERS: 9 Qualifier Games will be played, consisting of 15 players each. I.e. every representative plays in one Qualifier Game. The players themselves vote post-game to determine who is deserving of advancement. 1st and 2nd places will advance to the Semifinal Games.
• SEMIFINALS: A Jury consisting of finalists from Season 9 will select 27 additional players to advance to the three Semifinal Games. From each game, five players will advance to the Finale Game based on a post-game player vote, just like in the qualifying phase.
• THE FINALE: The Finale Game is played. Once it has completed, the players vote to determine who shall receive the title of Season 10 Champion and a winners certificate signed by Dmitry Davidoff, the creator of mafia.

The qualifier games will be played with the Adapt 6 setup (see below for more details), and the semifinal/finale games will be played using a different setup. The semifinal/finale setup will be a low-powered 15-player setup, with full details to be disclosed when the jury's semifinal advances are revealed.

Mafia flips will only reveal the alignment of the Mafia player, whereas Town flips will reveal the full role of the Town player.
Relevant mechanics info

• Day start.
• Majority elimination will not be enabled during day 1 and is not required at any point for the elimination. Starting on Day 2 and until LYLO, majority will be enabled at 12 hours after SoD (in 36/12s and 48/24s) OR at 24 hours after SoD (in 72/24s). LYLOs are an exception to the majority delay, during which majority will be enabled immediately.
• Tied votes will result in a player being eliminated at random from among the tied players.
• No outside communication. I.e. you may not contact the other players outside of the thread (unless you are Mafia and wish to speak with your teammates).
• Phase Lengths and Deadlines will be up to the players themselves (Ill organize your representative into a game with deadlines that suit their preferences).
• Thread is locked during Night Phases.
• Votes are automatically locked in at LYLO
• Mafia share a factional Night Kill, which is a single standard shot for their faction. The mafia factional kill is mandatory.
• Mafia may communicate at any time.
• Each individual player may make a maximum of 125 posts per day phase (this restriction is lifted 1 hour before day end).
• The game will have a host to oversee everything and make sure everyones following the code of conduct, but otherwise the game is completely automated (automatic votecounts, thread locks and reveals alignments automatically, the bot receives and processes actions, etc.).

1. SEASON 10 TIMELINE

There will be 9 Qualifier Games, and your representative plays in just one of these. They will have start dates ranging from the end of April to mid-June. So in other words, as long as your representative can play sometime during that period, they should be good and Ill make sure they get scheduled into a game that suits their schedule well. I.e. if your rep is busy until June, that isnt a problem.

The Semifinal Games will be played in July/August, and the Finale Game sometime in August/September (whenever we can work out something that suits everyone).

I'm not quite sure what more I can (or should) say about Lush's former identity. It will be very exciting to have the switch be placed in front of me and see what happens. What makes her different from the other NPCs that are influenced by characters like Artemis-2 or Foal is that there is the possibility for me to play her at some point and I felt it would be unfair to rank her in the list itself for that reason. Still, as of now she's a character with incredible connections to my backstory that I find fascinating. I would hope that if Ros was more than a memory, but still not played by me, that she would find her way on every player's list in some way. If it's as enemy or peer though we'll just have to find out.

There was a second trip that required some traveling into Misty's mind. Saoirse and Minerva joined Lush as they went to see what these Dark Bads were that Misty was scared of. It turned out to be the wiped memory of Batman that had taken on its own intense personality. We didn't know that though, and neither did the other memories inside Misty's mind. Ros knew her part was to help protect Misty from the inside, and this was a danger to all of them. Lush was quite proud of the team that she built- The Monocle, Captain Cold, and Reverse Flash. She saw that and said "Hey, I must be a better leader than even I realized if I can make a team like that." She's crafty, intelligent, and perhaps more than a little manipulative. But what has made her be a villain to the extents that she has? Its a big question that I hope is as interesting to find out for everyone else as I am sure it will be for me.

Lush came face to face with Ros herself. She admitted she mustered up all her energy to manipulate Mistys dice rolls into come up one after one in hopes of getting Lushs attention. She wanted to talk and find out why they werent fixed yet. She gave promises of secreted information she still knew, and who in the Society wanted her to have a high place in it even more than their spot in Alcatraz would have been. She had to show Bolts memory that he couldnt be trusted, and that they still had a lot of work to do, but they had to be whole to do it. Lush agreed that shed work on it, but in the meantime Misty still needed to be protected. Lush would handle the outside, Ros would handle the inside.

After that Misty began feeling better and as we would expunge a couple of other personalities trapped away in her head we would find Misty could be a bit of herself each time she had some extra space in her hallways of the mind.

Mistys mistyrees are more than just the people locked away inside her mind. Theres still the manner of what caused all of this. As it may have looked like a possible mistake, the magics that have crafted the maze inside her mind was done in a way to prevent someone from easily unspooling the magic within. A defense put in place that would then be further filled by the memories to come inside the font she would drink. Whats more curious though is that Misty knew we would help her.. Because Zatanna showed us to her. She recalls Zatanna using the scrying pool to show each of the party to let her know that we would be the ones to help her. What was Zatanna planning? Did she know wed be the ones to try and save her? Just who really is Misty? Well. We found the answer to that last one when we connected with Bunny and Cassandra Craft.

Rhiannon Arriachnon. The Daughter of Melmoth and Gloriana Tenebrae. Princess of the Sheeda.

To steal from Hans notes:
They kept a cauldron and dove into Mistys mind to find out what to hide from her. She came to them out of nowhere, frightened and scared, knew Zatanna was the only person to protect her. Worked to create an identity and laid across her. Obscured her memories from herself. Child of Melmoth and Tenebrae became Misty Kilgore.

Lush is a bit torn as clearly Misty is needing protection from her family, at the same time Lush has also been fighting because people deserve to have the chance to know who they really are. Lush pushed it once, but Misty did not seem interested, so she let it go. At least for now. While she doesnt want Misty in danger, Misty does deserve to have her voice heard when it comes to matters of Zatanna and eventually of Gloriana. This sweet little girl may be the answer The Seven Soldiers of Victory have been looking for or even more could be a key person able to flip Darkseids plans in the end should she ruin his marriage to Gloriana. For someone so innocent she is so very important.

Perhaps my vision of Misty is skewed because there is a vital piece of my characters backstory buried inside of her, but even without this very cool story element I can latch on to, I would still have been invested in Misty as we would have worked to solve the other matters of her mind. Helping Misty expunge her demons one by one on its own could be an incredible story, but where she fits into the grand scheme of things once Zatanna shows up and gives us some more answers is anyone's guess. While I do love so many characters, as you can see, I think it will take a lot to unseat Misty as my number one. Not impossible, and I welcome something so cool that could dethrone her, but for my money Misty is the heartbeat to Lushs campaign.

Hey, babe. There is only one character that shares a common thread with Lush and the previous 10 entries and thats Misty. From those just concerned about her well being to those with complicated relationships in place or to be had soon, the top of my list kind of revolves around our dear Princess.

We encountered Misty in Shadowcrest. She was locked behind a magically bound door that was supposed to be protecting a scrying pool. Zatanna locked her away in this room with tons of salty snacks and nothing to drink which lead Misty to drink the scrying pool and consuming 52 new personalities for herself. Lush was already irate having found a pair of gargoyle statues that were sentient with her and Bolts personalities, very likely from the memories she had ripped away from us. Seeing Misty she did not yet understand what was going on with her, all she saw was another girl that Zatanna had taken advantage of. It only took a second for those pieces to come together and Lush knew that this girl was someone she had to protect.

Getting to Zonn Z'orr, Waller and Chimp argued over who would take custody of this girl. They both gave cases to the other why their brand was better equipped for the situation. Lush interrupted saying she could take care of her- she was working for both Checkmate and a member of the Shadowpact and thus a neutral party. Beyond this she wanted to protect this girl, and that made her the best person to handle this. Chimp and Waller looked at Lush and just laughed as they said that she would kill her (If they meant Lush killing Misty or Misty killing Lush I never quite figured out) and this shared laugher gave way to Waller allowing Misty to stay in Oblivion for observation and wed go from there.

In the weeks that followed wed learn more about Misty. That she drank the font, that she had a bunch of personalities in her, that she lived with Zatanna in San Francisco, and that her memories before she stayed with Zatanna she couldnt remember. She thinks she went to her for help. But the more time she had around people again the less she was just Misty. She was becoming more and more different personalities popping up. Lush visited her often in Oblivion, checking in after her sessions with Xanadu. Lushs intuition to protect Misty became even stronger when she found out that Lushs memories were now inside Misty. A piece of Cynthia inside of Misty she couldnt leave her to just anybody. Misty confided she did not like staying in Oblivion, The smell. The loneliness. She wanted to stay in Zonn Zorr, and more than that she wanted to stay with Lush. A chat with Snapper later and Lushs room suddenly became two rooms connected as Misty would move in close enough for Lush to keep an eye on her.

Lush would reunite her with her rabbit Pocus (and eventually her cat Prowley.) whom she would nom the back foot of for security. For the most part that was Mistys routine: Stay in the Mess with Lush, go to Oblivion to be studied, nom some rabbit. This was working well, except John Constantine decided to meddle. He decided it was time to figure out which version of Cynthia was really going to come out and play and he poked the bear. Misty has a special die that she keeps close to her and one day she began rolling one after one after one. It got up to double digits before Constantine had Chimp tell Lush that if it hit 13 it was a very grave omen and disaster would come for all of us. It got up to 12 before Lush caved and went to Mento to see what was going on

Mento put Lush inside Mistys head where she got a chance to sit with the real Misty for a bit. She was in pain, holding something in. Something she equated to being worse than any other memory. Lush had to investigate and make her friend feel better. Lush would push in and find a memory of Bolt telling Blue Devil that they needed to kill Lush because she was going beyond even the rules of villandry after what happened to Eddie. Blue Devil refused and left as Bolt ruminated to himself that he could get in touch with Zatanna and have her pull a little presto mindfucko on her. What happened next is one of my favorite moments of the campaign. A voice called out saying that We need to talk,

I did want to say that I think Sue Dibny is absolutely one of the most important characters to the campaign, and despite her never showing up, I imagine she'll begin to have some real impact as the campaign is moving into its second act. The first act of the campaign featured an underlying theme of death buying moments. What should have been heroic sacrifice with lasting impact now was cheapened in some ways to no longer saving the day, even an hour. Sometimes, it's just about one breath, one step, one second.

The second act of the campaign I think began in earnest with Eve Manners, and its recurring theme is more about the dead and their impact on the living. A number of characters have been introduced who have a legacy that will play a major role moving forward. Sue Dibny, Eve Manners, Abin Sur and Martian Manhunter are the immediate ones who come to mind, and there will certainly be more as we continue forward, especially when you consider the Story Line. There's this general tenor of history hanging like a specter over the campaign, and at this point, I imagine a character like Sue will truly start to show her role in earnest.

Honorable Mention- Eve Manners

Weeks ago we caused some trouble at Area 51 that would give us some new allies and lead to the destruction of much of the base as we unleashed untold creatures. Marvin the Martian resided here. A Sand Superman wrecked havoc on us. And there was also a House That Could Not Sing... Time passed and we received a message to return to Area 51 sent directly to our base. This was unheard of as no one should know where we are so we took this as a very dangerous invitation.

What we found there was Eve Manners. A ghost of the past that was imprisoned here in Area 51, then Area 50. She needed to have her story told before she faded away with nothing left to bind her to this site. What we learned is that the Anti-Life Equation was experimented with here as far back as the 60s. She showed us pieces of her time and gave us a story painted sometimes in her silence of her love for another woman causing them both to be experimented on as the times were not very open to their love. She was left a ghost, and her love transformed into a house. A house that kept her trait of not being able to sing.

There was a certain magic to this session that I don't think can be conveyed very easily. In the same way those pictures I've shown of Cassie and of Sue in their devestated states carried a weight this entire session carried that same energy. In front of us were things that would strike each of us to the core of our characters and gave us more questions than answers before all was said and done.

Before Eve left us we found a moment of ambivalence as we tried to give her some news that would make her happy. We let her know how we had met the House That Could Not Sing and we had helped her carry a tune, showing her she could sing. It was bittersweet. Eve faded and left behind a couple of pieces of her clothing, some of which we are pairing up with a beam recovered from the House. Perhaps we can still give them a piece of what they couldn't have in their time.

I'd say Waller fulfills some of the roles you ascribe to Freddy more than Freddy does, but I also wholeheartedly believe that this is all subject to one's own interpretation. Hell, Jim Rook could play just a vital a role - I just don't think people are as invested in the wizened owner of Oblivion in that context. Hell, Roulette and La Dama could fill that slot as well. It really is about who the players lift up, in that regard.

Misty

Waller does, but she has that stronger air of importance around her that you won't go to her just to go to her. Freddy is more accessible in that regard I think

2. Freddy Freeman

All the things I said about Jaime and how he is the campaign goes double for Freddy. For my money Freddy is probably the most important NPC that the party has. In the ways that your character can influence someone, so too can the NPC to your character. They should shape you into who you want to be. Freddy has a connection with near everyone of the PCs and his wisdom and experience can be priceless when it comes to staying alive and succeeding in the Field.

But that wisdom and experience should combine to be something more- leadership. Both Lush and Xander have had chats with Freddy that allude to Freddy being the one that needs to lead their peers. Spec Ops and the younger NPCs need someone that has been there before and knows what needs to be said and when. Freddy is the most level headed guy we have even before you account for his wisdom and intuition. Beyond that it just should be Freddy. He is to be the new Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel is on par with Superman. I said Xanadu was the biggest weapon of Oblivion, but Freddy can very easily be the biggest weapon we have against The Spectre when the time comes.

Thats not to say that I want Scar to have Freddy simply give us the answers or make the decisions for us. But like we sought out Oracle in Campaign 1 I feel like Freddy could easily be that same role now. Each player has their own connection and level of respect for what Freddy is to their characters. Brennus is tied to the hip with him. Where Brennus goes Spirit wants to go and Freddys friends with his friends he has in Young Justice and the Titans. Pepper has dreams of forming her own group of Zitans. Minerva was closely plugged in to his quests regarding Atlantis, and now Rosetta has a similar connection as she seeks out answers in Egypt. Bloodfruit is very curious about this new Pantheon being established, and Saoirse wants to create the core of the 8th Age. Almost every player has a vested interest in what happens with Freddy. Theres not many of those types of characters that can impact that many PCs at the same time.

Freddy needs all of us too though. We need to solve these riddles to discover his pantheon and try and get him his powers before Sabine beats him to it. We were out of clues briefly and needed Xanadu to provide his next riddle for him at one point and having to accept help from Oblivion to that extent was not exactly the easiest pill to swallow. More than that he has concerns for his family - especially Mary Marvel who he fears could be a Fury. We do our best to assure him that she should be okay. If he was without his powers Mary likely could be without hers, and without them her uses a Fury would be limited after all. But Brennus going over clues from long ago may point to us having a lead on Mary- and her powers. Freddy needs all his brain power dedicated to solving his riddles and the issues surrounding them, finding and dealing with Mary is something we should handle to not put him in line of what a distraction it could be.

Captain Marvel was one of our favorite calls for aid in Campaign 1 and my hope is that the New Captain Marvel can be every bit that favorite and then some here in Campaign 2. How much of a leader or a resource he can be will ultimately be up to us, but I hope that he sees his potential met in both cases. Freddy is the type of character that gives you more than hope at having success in the campaign, he gives you a real chance to win. Ideally he can help show us how to do so along the way.

Honorable Mention- Black Alice (Lori Zechlin)

Surprisingly Id say that Alice may be next in line for how many strong relationships she has for herself. While you wont find the wisdom of Freddy here with Alice, you will find the friendship. Her comedic escapades as she only wishes to enjoy marijuana and appear older, along with her doubts of concussions causing her to have some identity crises herself I personally feel are not the peak of her character. I find Alice to be the most interesting in her rage that causes her to try and be serious or as she takes on a new form. Seeing her take on Zatanna or The Phantom Stranger makes you wonder just how powerful she can be. Her path to meeting the Saint of Killers was also very interesting and a lot of fun on the way. But perhaps selfishly Ill have to rank Lushs last chat up there for best moments as Alice took on the form of Madame Xanadu and gave her hilarious tarot readings that involved pictures of the party. While I question her level of importance on the final battle as we will be gaining more and more powerful members of Oblivion I am positive that she will remain an important character for the PCs from now until the end.

Han is ready to kick my ass already. Traci missed the original cuts and I had not had a chance to return to her with Lush or have Xander meet up with her at all until the rankings were nearly done. Traci and Lush have a very standoffish relationship as they both are protective of Saoirse and dont exactly trust the other. Lush has also broken into Tracis room and has threatened her without actually threatening her so theres that. Well see how Xander and her fair as workout buddies coming up. I would say right now though Traci has put herself in the scheming side of Checkmate more than the magics of Oblivion and her being disconnected from the beats Im focusing on combined with not making time to talk to her myself has hurt her a bit. While I do like Traci I dont think she could make the higher spots of my ranking in the future on her current trajectory, but she could definitely make the list next go around.

3. Lucas Carr (Snapper)

Hes not -a- Justice Leaguer, hes -The- Justice Leaguer to Lush at least. Snapper Carr will perhaps be the unsung hero of this campaign. The Resistance continues to grow, but there would still only be a handful of people shivering in the cold had it not been for Snapper. The only person able to teleport us to and from for a good stretch of time, we wouldnt even be in Zonn Zorr had he not been there to pick up the PCs from their awakenings from the tubes. There are still A-list heroes and Justice League alumni that are well known and more accomplished heroes out in the world, but for Lush? This former mascot of the Justice League is her hero.

Lush attached herself immediately to Snapper upon arriving in Zonn Zorr. He was the one that showed her around, hes the one that essentially saved them, and he was cute to boot. Before any type of relationship formed there was a flirtatious energy, but Lush was already concerned about Snapper and his health. She would ask Waller to cut down on some Snaps to let him recover. This would lead to Snapper getting upset, but also both of them getting their feelings out there. From there they quickly become involved.

Lush has been on a rollercoaster as she figures out what the heck has happened to her, who she was, and figuring out who she can be. Through all of this Snapper has been her rock. He supports her, reassures her that hell be there for her with whatever choice she makes, and he helps make her feel more heroic in the now. Its a bit funny as the actual way things are is that Snapper just supports Lush doing whatever, however she is, and Saoirse is the one that pushes Lush to be more heroic. Lush sees this the opposite though that Saoirse is just a supportive friend and Snapper wants to bring out the best in her.

Lush started the game leaning harder into violence.She figured she already had her reputation and regardless of how she feels about Waller, The Wall has a type that she likes and Lush had no problem with trying to be on the good side of the Wall through getting her hands dirty in the field. While she still can be quite aggressive Lush has definitely calmed down compared to what she has been in the past. When given the option of lethality Lush will give pause and in the right cases simply settle for a knockout. -This- can be attributed to Snapper. Lush thinks of him and how he would handle things. Hes a Justice Leaguer, he wouldnt want to kill someone if he could avoid it. So her body count has been at least a little lower than it could be.

As Snapper has influenced Lush, Lush has influenced Snapper. You can definitely tell Snapper has a bit of a rougher side than he conveyed to begin with. While he may have had witty verbal jabs at the party in fun, theres times where he can be harsh to them and their situations more so than he was previously. Not villainous per say, but he is no cookie cutter virtuous mascot that he easily could have been had the party not had any relationships with him. While everyone has done their party, him rooming with Lush does bump that up a bit I think.
Everytime something happens with Snapper that makes Lush upset she realizes she cant be because these are similar mistakes to ones she has made, some even actively. She was upset about him sleeping with Cheetah, but she also understood he was holed up for a week and thought he would die with the world ending. Beyond that Lush had just previously cheated on him with Saoirse. Snapper understands that she may have to be a bit physical in the field should it call for it, but that doesnt apply to Saoirse. So this was a wash. Snapper has several exes that think theyre still together? Well Lush technically never ended things with Bolt. Last she saw him he was being taken away to jail after they had a fight with Blue Devil. So whenever we meet up with Larry its going to be something. Snapper did not actually divorce Bethany because he forget to submit the papers. Lush cant be upset that hes still married because shes technically married right now to Queenie. Anytime something happens between the two it would be unfair for Lush to hold it against him. Shes guilty of the same sins and shed rather not push this person that she loves away.

As a player having this one relationship from essentially the beginning of the campaign and continuing on could feel limiting, but it doesnt. Anytime I think that Lush should be doing something else, or perhaps that Snapper should be free to explore other characters without being attached to Lush I would have the two talk to each other and by the end of it Id be reassured that Snapper and Lush fit like a glove. They are what the other needs at the end of the world and have a lot in common. Theyre both pretty rich, make the same mistakes, and love adventure.

Scar mentioned that he thought the potential Snapper had could be capped off like I said it was for Pixie. And while that may be the case in some ways the two still grow together as things change in the campaign. But more than that there is still the possibility Ros shows up and that would perhaps be like starting this relationship anew. All things considered that means to me Cyndi and Lucas still have at least half their story to still unfold.

In session they dont have a ton of time together usually, but in the moments when they do you can tell how much they care for each other. Lush snapped when he was lost in Austin and she was a mad woman possessed trying to find him. When Lush got her ass kicked by Lashina in Skartaris, Snapper snapped in to get them out of there, already a bit winded himself as Skartaris is a hard place to snap to. Lush, a bit delirious, said that they saw Darkseid (as Lashina had shown them all a vision of him) and his tone shifted to a panic. Angry that the party could allow Darkseid to be so close to Lush.

The bombs between the two hang in the air. Lush could be someone completely different. Snapper could snap wrong and be lost to us or severely injure himself - hes already lost a foot. What makes them work though? They make a great pair in my eyes. To me this is no perfect love story, or romantic tale. Its simply what I think a real relationship would look like when two people find love at the end of the world, hoping they can figure out something more should it not all come crashing down. To me thats a pretty good story.

Speaking of Justice Leaguers the Skirt Squad have banged whats there to say about Hal? Hes at the center of the War of Light. Everybody wants his head from Corps to Corps in their own ways. Hes going to have to be a great hero at the same level of being something that could cause all the destruction he already has. Theres no way we can fix space without his help. Like Constantine he carries a lot of guilt, and deservedly. In C1 Oracle told Fastbreak that he was just like Hal Jordan- an insult to him making him out to be someone who wanted the world to be structured around him as he saw fit and everyone hated him for it. In C2 he has huge ties to Coast City and he was a member of the people who were against The Vote as it was happening. There is a lot to explore with Hal for both Xander and Cynthia. I have been lacking on my space relationships as Lush is already plugged in to so many things on Earth that she is catching up with, and Xanders focus in space for the moment align more with the Red Lanterns than the Green Lanterns he has not been as sociable as he could be either. I expect we have a lot of time on Oa though and in time Hal is someone that will be gone to more than a couple of times.

I'll be honest knowing that Lush was a former villain with memory issues from creation, and knowing that Zatanna/Dr Light happened C1, I just assumed her being mind wiped was discussed between you and scarlet pre-campaign.

That's awesome that to was a surprise to you. It fits so perfectly and makes such a big (and controversial) DC event really personal to the players.

The forgetfulness is a fortunate change made during creation. I was going to have Lush take "Uncoordinated" as a disadvantage, but reconsidered this as I thought with her nature background and taking some influence from C1's Varra that she may be well versed in bow and arrows. I changed it up to forgetful so that I could have better marksmanship ability, not expecting her to be very scholarly or arcane connected. It was the perfect change it turns out!

Well I had already laid down the breadcrumbs just didn't make it a big deal before Pepper spoke up :P

Interesting ranking! I honestly didn't think Zatanna would place, simply for the same reason someone like Titania didn't place for me and Darkseid didn't place for anyone. Though at least with Zatanna, we've physically seen her and directly felt her lasting presence rather than just the lingering fear of her eventual presence

The lynchpin behind the lynchpin.Sue Dibny is the woman that Doctor Light assaulted that would lead to The Vote and his mind wiping. We learned about Sue Dibny in Opal City as that is where she and Elongated Man lived. We learned of how Elongated Man was using all his detective skills to figure out who had killed Sue. His theory board had everyone, everyone you could imagine. From D-listers to A-listers and even some heroes thrown in. Even Bolt made his list. But he figured out that it had to be Jean Loring, the former wife of The Atom. He came to this conclusion when he saw Jean had Sues ring in her possession at her funeral. As far as we know Ralph has it now and hes somewhere in France. But we need that ring to take to Phoenix for them to try and resurrect Sue herself.

Lush stole Sues pearl necklace as they were looking through her house. She showed them to Snapper and Snapper just about broke down. He explained how loved Sue was and how much her death hurt the entire community. This hit Lush as it was the first time Snapper had opened up like this, the first time he had been this vulnerable.Everything Lush learned about Sue from there reinforced that Sue was special, she was loved by everyone and no one had a bad word to say of her. You mention her name and everyones mood would fall as it looked like they were punched in the gut. Almost as if her name had become a sacred word that you werent supposed to mention. Lush drew the ire of the Justice League by simply suggesting Rosetta turn into Sue in front of Doctor Light.

I mentioned that we brought back the Justice League from the League Satellite when we went to DC, we picked up Canary and crew. What I didnt mention was that Doctor Mid-Nite also had Sue Dibnys body there. He brought it with us and now its in our morgue. Lush decided, hey, we need that ring of hers maybe theres a slim chance she actually had it someway somehow. So Lush paid a visit to Sue Dibny

It was heartbreaking. I dont think we knew the actual cause of Death to Sue prior to this, just that Jean Loring had killed her. Her cause of death was having her brain stomped on by someone atom-sized and after that they burned her body to a crisp- her suit melted onto her. Like Cassie and Connor before, this image just carries a weight to it. You feel sorrow, sympathy, and sadness that such a sweet person was left so pathetic. It hurts to look at.

They may have never met before, but Lush shares a bond with Sue Dibny. In a strange way what happened to Sue would be the domino that would create the brunt of who Lush has become. In the same way that Zatanna helped form Lush and Lush pursuing Zatanna has made me happy to have started with her over Xander, I would not have had such an attachment to Sue without such a connection to the Zatanna storyline. In a lot of ways Sue has been as formative on Lush as these next few rankings. The only thing holding Sue back from a ranking is like Tef we have not actually met her, and like Bolt she has not truly debuted. Lush held the hand of what was left of Sue and promised that theyd see justice done, for everything. I really hope somehow Sue shows up for real in the campaign. If she doesnt this is enough. Shes owed Justice and shell get it.

4. Zatanna (Zatanna Zatara)

Perhaps this ranking is cheating a bit. Weve only seen Zatanna for the briefest of moments. We had one chance to free her from the Hard Light Justice League, but within seconds they whisked her away. But this one appearance qualified her for our Gauntlet and I feel that makes her fair game. There is no single character that has shaped Lushs mindset - err, no pun intended- more than Zatanna. Even before we were informed in character what Zatanna was doing she was already shaping the way I wanted Lush to see and question the world.

Coming into the campaign I did not know the significance Zatanna would have or how connected she could be to the main story. It didnt dawn on me until a couple of weeks in that I could flirt with the idea that Lush had been mindwiped, almost by mistake. I knew that Zatanna was mind wiping people because she wiped Doctor Light, we were given that bit of info just chatting sometime during campaign 1.It wasnt known, but soon enough it would be after the events of C1. Someone mentioned that Zatanna filmed her show in LA, and she had an act in Vegas, but she also resided in SF. Mechanically Lush took a disadvantage of being forgetful during creation along with her shady background. I said Well what if I say that she caught a Zatanna show before being tubed and she cant remember the night, it was supposed to be part of the act as she was selected to be on stage. I ran with it and started having her become quite concerned once the news of what Zatanna was doing was broken to the party. I had no idea that Scar had also had plans for Lush to have been mind wiped, he said afterwards that this was in play as soon as Lush was made with Forgetful on her sheet. So serendipitously I fell on course to what would be Lushs major storyline to follow.

Everywhere she went she looked for information on Zatanna. She started with Constantine and she learned about The Vote. This was an entirely new level to what had been done. While those in the magic community or in the know amongst heroes and villains had inklings about the mind wipes, no one knew about The Vote. Lush took this to Waller and she could tell this was new information. New information that made The Wall angry. Zatanna went from a potentially strong asset we could find, to someone she wanted to be brought in for answers herself. Waller gives us the ability to set the plans ourselves and we are free to handle things as we wish, but at the same time she can use her voice and shut something down. She had every ability and reason to stop Lush from pushing for Zatanna, but she chose to empower her instead. Lush asked to lead a Task Force dedicated to finding and reclaiming Zatanna, and Waller signed off on it.

Before this I talked about Zatanna to a lot of people and tried to get an understanding of where they stood. For the most part the party understood Lushs concerns, but they also like who Lush is compared to the stories they have heard about her truer self. If they had not been asked by this point they were now. To begin Task Force Z, Lush sought a response from most members of Checkmate as to how they think Zatanna should be handled if we are able to bring her in to Zonn Zorr. This included the PCs and if they didnt have a view by now they did form one. Responses ranged form putting her with the Shadowpact or making her a member of Checkmate all the way down to turning her over to higher Society or just straight killing her. Everyone had their own thoughts and Lush has taken most of it into account. Their meetings now focus more on extraction than what to do with her.

In place to extricate Zatanna is our most elaborate plan yet. The Secret Six are destroying a warehouse. The Justice League are blowing up a refueling base. Were bringing in soldiers to steal all the planes at Ferris Air. Were bringing our Doctor Light to fight their Doctor Light and we may be sending some aircraft into a tower depending on how we blow up their batteries. All at the same time. This has more moving pieces than Leesburg and that was a lot going on. And perhaps maybe another surprise for our dear friends in Coast City. Zatannas retrieval is just as paramount as freeing an entire city at this scale.

Her home, Shadowcrest, was circled for a while and was pushed when Lush heard there may be a scrying pool in her home that could aide them in their search for Zatanna. During our time there we would find 10 plates of villains that had been mind wiped, all having an object also representing their person. Tattoo Man inhabited a painting. The Penguin a piano. Floronic Man a tree. Lush also had a plate, her and Bolt both. They were turned into gargoyle statues that adorned her patio. Lush was filled with rage that made her look unhinged. This was one of my favorite experiences in the campaign. Finding your character's mark on the campaign prior to the campaign has really drawn me in and feel like these characters live in this world. Saoirse has her band the Bad Bitches and one of their t-shirts popping up was really fun. Spirit has this ongoing story about when he tangled with some giant white apes alongside Kid Flash. Lush caused a lot of destruction and was a statue for all her troubles.

The freedom of having Xander available to play also lets me also play the other side of that. Hey, these are villains. They deserved it. His lone run in with Zatanna in C1 saw him trying to ask to learn from her as she was using a lightning spell and he wanted to improve his own abilities. Canary still had him in the dog house at this time so they laughed and Xander was embarrassed from the whole ordeal. I am glad that I started with Xander though because even though many characters have a connection to the Zatanna storyline I do not think it would have nearly the same impact as having Lush around making it front and center from the jump.

What will actually happen when Lush gets face to face with Zatanna? What is their true history? What caused all of this to happen? My biggest fear at this point is that we get to Zatanna just as Doctor Light is cutting out her tongue. Will she still have a tongue? Theres so many questions and so much more to be discovered as there is still a room locked by Zatannas blood in Shadowcrest. I feel Zatanna is the lynchpin for the campaign, at the very least this early saga of it. She is more than deserving of the top 5, even if her appearance barely counts.

When Jaime woke up the two talked a lot. Jaime saw -some- of that Blue Devil room and his conclusion was that Lush actually was heroic at heart. She talked with him about how Jaime was built to be a hero and he confided he was torn. Amanda Waller and Checkmate see him best as this new Blue Beetle. His dad wants him to give that up and go back to what he was- and he could still be a coyote if he did that. Perhaps under La Dama there is a marriage between superhero and coyote, but it would have him serving under the woman he has known to fear and not trust his entire life. He mentioned how before he changed he was helping out a local hero with getting people out of El Paso when everything happened to him. This was still so new to him, he still had thoughts about simply wanting to go to college with his friends.

That day did a lot for the both of them and they spent the rest of it watching a movie. While Jaime is still confused he does see Lush more as a friend at this point. While I still think that it would be fun to be his enemy and see Jaime kick her ass, I think that the path theyre on where they can both learn to be better heroes together is also pretty cool. Well just have to see if that holds up should Ros show up.

I think in another world Jaime could be a Robin himself. Perhaps not as bright as a Robin may be usually, but what makes Jaime the hero he is isnt that he has Khaji Da to do the heavy lifting. Its Jaimes heart and character that makes him the type of hero the campaign needs, and the PCs need to help figure out and help mold the world. Jaime may not be someone that makes the final stand against Darkseid, but he is someone that is going to change the world for the better on the path we take to the end of the world.

5. Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes)

Week 5 of the campaign we met Billy Batson, now going by Shazam at the Rock of Eternity. While hes busy trying to coral the Seven Deadly Sins there in Salt Lake City, hes kind of bound to where he is right now. He could offer us no immediate help, but he did tell us that in El Paso we could find an azure miracle. Week 9 we made a trip there to see what type of miracle we could find and what we found was Jaime Reyes as he was being co-opted by Khaji Da, a blue alien that inspired the Blue Beetle. This time he did a bit more than just inspire one, he made one.

I touched a bit on how there is a recurring theme where we dont always find what were looking for, but we find the next best thing. Jaime isnt quite that. But one day he could be. Characters like Jaime are what make the campaign what it is to me. A coyote that was at the wrong place at the wrong time and is making the most out of it.

Xander sees Jaime as a hero. Slap him on the front of a newspaper, get him some camera time with the President and everyone looks better for it. But in his short time knowing Jaime he sees that its not the suit that makes the man, but the man that makes the suit. Jaime considers Xander just a jock in a suit, and I think that relationship on its own could be pretty fun. But Lush and Jaime are the much better pair.

Jaime and Lushs relationship got off to a rough start. Ferdinand picked him up to help in the kitchen and tried to help mentor Jaime in the week that Lush lost in Austin. When Lush returned she was on a rampage as not only was her kitchen gone, but so was her dog and she needed one to get the other. Ferdinand was adamant that it was his kitchen now and that Lush was not welcome to use the facility. They argued and yelled and insulted each other with Jaime doing his best to referee and calm Lush down. Ferdinand would not budge though. So Lush pulled out a fucking sword and charged at Ferdinand.trying to attack him. She ended up being restrained by Checkmate, but in the process accidentally stabbed Jaime.

Lush felt bad, but it was an accident. To everyone else this was her stabbing him in a fit of rage. It would lead to Jaime dubbing her Harley Quinn Crazy. Before that though Lush made her way to apologize to Jaime and he took things in stride saying he was better.It may have been Jaimes most intelligent and focused conversation he has had in Zonn Z;orr. He ended it by saying One day Im going to kick your ass. before running off to run laps. That was the moment that Jaime clicked for me. That was the moment that I saw Jaime wasnt a goof, he was a hero that just needed to find his way. Lush saw it, she wanted to see him blossom into a real hero. She wanted to -help- him be a hero. Hell, she would even be his villain if it meant being his hero. It was beyond Lush just wanting to help him, I wanted to help him. I wanted to see him and Lush be at ends and grow into this fierce rivalry that was born before our eyes from start to end.

All that said, Lush and Jaime tried to make it work. He continued to work in the Mess after Lush regained her position and he was present. He didnt want to listen to Lush and he was pretty terrible at all things cooking. He couldnt make toast to save his life. But still he put in time in the Mess because he cared for Ferdinand, and he wanted to pull his weight around ZZ. He stayed there until Harley Quinn herself showed up. Word of warning: Saying Harley Quinn Crazy to Harley Quinn will result in bad times for you. A falling piano trap was all Jaime needed to see. Jaime was even having issues in his relationships outside the Mess with Traci and Pepper to where he wasnt feeling like he belonged here. He wanted to help his people and be on the convoy. Quickly approved by Waller, Jaime left to rejoin his friends and family and assist them in making it safely to Zonn Zorr.

Once he returned from the Convoy things were not great with his family. His dad, Berto, served as a soldier during the Imperiex war. He went and fought against alien invaders and did not take well to his son having a parasite in Khaji Da. As long as theyre connected, Berto wants nothing to do with him. Its been hard on his entire family. This has helped lead Jaime to not staying in the tower anymore, he stays in Castling. Lush asked him to come back to the kitchen, but he refused. Things were maybe a bit better between them, but not enough to where they were exactly friends.

He was still open to handling missions though. He was recruited to go to Hawaii and what happened to him may have been the biggest thing that had happened to him yet. In some ways even bigger than Khaji Da bonding with him. At the end of a massive battle we had atop of a volcano we were all scattered in how we exited in an effort to return to our working base a safe distance away. Lush went on the same path as Jaime, but he was a bit ahead of her as she had to go by land and he was in the skies unimpeded. When she finally caught up with him at the intended destination he was standing over our ally Loren Jupiter, smoking gun in hand. Jupiters son Haze, a telepath, then instructed Jaime to kill himself. Jaime turned the gun towards him, but thanks to Khaji Da being able to fight off this command long enough for the party to intervene. Jaime was devastated at what he had just done and that he had come seconds away from killing himself. Jaime couldnt believe that he had his mind taken control of.

In this turn of events, Lush went from Harley Quinn Crazy, to perhaps the one person around that could understand what he was going through. She said no words to him at the time, she simply offered him a hug and the feeling he wasnt alone. It took some time before Lush would approach him about what he was feeling and if he needed to talk. She explained how she felt as she learned she was mind wiped and he related to some of these doubts that creeped into his own mind from this ordeal. He began to open up a little. The next major part in Jaimes story involved going to Leesburg with us as the head of the convoy wed have for the Leesburg survivors. It took him a week or so using the underground railroad system we worked out, but this was a huge success with limited casualties. It helped. Jaime feel more like himself again.

During our real world Christmas we usually take a two week break from sessions, but we are offered the opportunity to participate in a solo session. This time the sessions were built with the option to leave the base with an NPC of your choice for a day off of sorts. While Lush is with Snapper he was going to be the one snapping everyone else out so logistically it felt like taking him wasnt something that could happen if this was real. So Lush elected to take Jaime as he is someone she felt deserved a day of just as much as anyone else in Spec Ops. Jaime thought at first this was an attempt to kidnap him, but once he realized that with Snapper taking us Checkmate would know where he was and thus kidnapping him couldnt happen. It still took some time to set in, but he got it and agreed to coming to Lushs house for her day off.

This day off is where I encountered Lushs secret rooms filled with Blue Devil memorabilia and her movie room for all her uncles movies. It was Jaime that actually took found the entrance to this second secret room as he was admiring one of the posters (BatLash for those curious). Cyndi was pretty crafty before her mind wipe and this door was booby trapped. Jaime got a poison dart in his neck for his troubles and he cried out that I -was- kidnapping him again and that he had once again been stabbed. He slept this off as Khaji Da took the poison out of him and Lush investigated this other room.

Ros may have seduced Lush during their heart to heart
it may not have been very hard to do

Speaking of working with people that you annoy the shit out of. Constantine is another character that could very well rank anywhere on my list up to the top 10. Their relationship and dynamic I think is very fun and has evolved in a way that makes me wonder just how much they can be working together. Helping Tef definitely helped his disposition. Him not being on the list is more, again, because I havent focused on the relationship and where he falls at any given time is based on what my most recent talk with him would be. In this case recency bias is just I havent talked to him in a while. Lushs story has interconnected with Saoirses so much that Constantine will be a constant for a long long time and I have to think hell continue to stay one of the best.

Lady Luck is the waitress of Oblivion. Shes usually just popped in and out of scenes, but when she gave her story to Bloodfruit it was a story I really liked. I dont imagine theres a ton of room for her to be more than what shes been, but shes a great piece of Oblivion that helps show that the bar truly houses beings from all places and times.

6. Blue Devil (Daniel Cassidy)

One person who was very adamant that Lush did not belong there and she would be more akin with those of Bewitched was our dear Daniel Cassidy, the Blue Devil. I have mentioned him a couple of times, but for a reminder Blue Devil is who I took as an enemy during character creation as he was a known enemy to Bolt. I knew very little about him then and only read some of his comics after to try and get an understanding for what the character would be like. He definitely has some stuff on the sillier side of the spectrum. He was not at all what I expected.

Week 2 we acquired Oblivion and in its Shadowpact was the Blue Devil already present and ready to make Lushs life hell. Their first encounter had her at the bar trying to order wine, seeing if they stocked Redford Wine. The answer was a resounding no as from behind Cassidy basically chokeslammed her against the wall. Insisting that he got the wrong gal went absolutely nowhere and he made it clear she wasnt welcome. She shouldnt even be in the bar, shes mundy (mundy being the magic communitys word for non magic users as they are just mundane). To her rescue came Jim Rook as it was his bar and the bar registered her as part of the Green. This was also Lushs introduction to the Parliaments so really some important plot pieces hit Lush hard and early.

Lush looked over her shoulder every time she was in the bar after that. The occasional time he would intercept her before she would leave and make sure she was behaving as she would shrink away. When Lush finally got on the trail of Zatanna and that she had been wiped by her she approached Cassidy about it. He had no idea Zatanna was doing this and suddenly things started to make a little more sense as to why Lush was not the terror he was expecting her to be. This wasnt a long plot by her, she really was changed. Their relationship changed from there.

Lush would slowly be less intimidated by him as she would grow to understand exactly what they were to each other here at the end of the world. Cassidy would soften up on her, but made it clear that if she ever flips the switch that hes the first one that will come down on her. For now though? She had earned the benefit of the doubt.

During the fake Arion quest we were dealing with, Lush was trying to snoop around Arions room and was close to being caught. She ducked into Blue Devils room to hide. Cassidy was in his room and she urged him to be quiet. She filled him in, it raised his curiosity, and he began to investigate himself. He told Lush to sit put as he went out. After a few moments Lush couldnt sit still and started looking around his room. She found a picture of Cassidy and her uncle Robert Redford, but the edge was creased. Unfolding it showed her. In a costume she had no recollection of standing next to Blue Devil, the three of them with ear to ear smiles. When she asked him what this was he explained Lush started as a hero. Her uncle bankrolled her outfit and this was the first time she had helped out Cassidy up in Sacramento. She would find out she only became a villain after Blue Devil turned her down when she asked to join him to make their own version of the Bat Family. Kid Devil was enough for him though, he didnt want to be more than that. He was coming off the JLI and didn;t want the responsibilities that would bring.

In time she would start bringing Misty around for her sessions with Xanadu. Eventually she had Misty and Cassidy meet. This was a piece of her that he would know. He was very uncomfortable, as was Misty. He said he couldnt help Misty either, Lush erupted saying that he wasnt there for her then, but she hoped he at least would have been here for her now. What came next was not what I expected Blue Devil deflated. This beat him down and hit him to his core. The dynamic between the two had been that he was the one intimidating and Lush was the one that was shrinking away, but in this moment the roles flipped. It hurt to see.

Lush would apologize and in time they would be on better terms again. A conversation that remains in the air is the fact that Lush made a deal in LA with another demon to bring Blue Devil there so he can be taken to hell. Hell will be its own mini campaign I imagine at this point. And there is always the lingering point that he expects to be there whenever they go after Bolt. He wont be so forgiving of Larry. More than anything else though I feel the biggest shoe to drop, aside from if Lush becomes Ros again, is Eddie.

Lush recently took a trip home for a break. While there she wanted to pick up some things from her villain closet she had hidden away in her garage. Every proper villain should have a cool garage of some sort, right? What she found though was an entire secret room. Filled with movie posters and a projector to watch movies of her uncle. But there was more. Behind one of the posters was another secret room. This one was much more sinister.One that showed her evidence of -another- costume she had no memory of. One that showed an obsession with Blue Devil. One where she began to recall the details of what happened with Eddie the Kid Devil.

In our cannon, Lush is the cause that sent Eddie from just a boy who was paired up with Blue Devil, to being an actual devil himself. Lush kidnapped him, tortured him. Chained him up and stretched him with manacles. When she was done with him he was barely breathing and he would eventually find his way into the arms of Neron as he looked for power and to be stronger. Since then hes been unhinged, unapproachable. Blue Devil could do nothing for him, he wouldnt listen. Kid Devil was a terror, and quite possibly by design. Now we know that he should be in Titan Towers, no doubt adopted into the Terror Titans by Terry himself. In a world where Lush is trying to atone for sins she didnt know she created, this will no doubt be the biggest challenge and perhaps its resolution will be even more important than who Cynthia decides to be. Cassidy has warned her to stay far away from Eddie, no intentions she has would justify going near him. But it feels pretty destined that this is a mess Lush will have to clean up herself.

I think a characters disadvantages do more to make the character than their advantages, In that same vein in some cases I take on having someone as an enemy not as a challenge on how to avoid them or subvert dealing with their complications, but I like to dig in and see if being enemies cant be flipped. Knowing now that Lush shares more of her origin with Blue Devil than Bolt himself, it only makes sense that this is one I should try to do everything I can to get the most out of.

7. Madame Xanadu (Nimue Inwudu)

Perhaps our biggest weapon in Oblivion is Madame Xanadu. She lacks her eyes and her visions are clouded due to this, but she is still more than capable of assisting the party. Whenever something comes up that stumps even Detective Chimp he will suggest it be taken to Xanadu. When Constantine cant think of a ward or spell that can help us in our time of need you go to Xanadu. When a lost little pup wanders into the bar looking for her Marm you go to Xanadu.

For the most part everyone can ask one question to our dear Madame and she will give you an answer or at least a direction on where to go. Beyond the one question she will simply say that she needs her eyes to see further, urging us to go and find them for her. Lush made Xanadu upset on her quest to get Pixie that saw Xanadu flex some of her abilities as Lush was flung to the wall for disrespecting her. Lush complied with what Xanadu wanted, and after getting Pixie she decided it was time to ask the question she had been plagued with Was her mind messed with before she came to Zonn Z;orr? A question so impactful that I was asked above the game if I was sure as a player that I wanted to continue asking this question and get an answer. Scare was very nervous, but this was now or never for Lush and she went forward with her question. Clearly by now you must know the answer was a devastating yes, but going from speculation and concern over Could this be a possibility? to This is fact made Lush go from obsessive to, well, even more obsessive about what Zatanna had been doing. This session with the Cook Off, getting Pixie back, and finding out that Lush was wiped can easily be pointed at as one of the most important sessions for Lush in the early game, or at all. Madame Xanadu was the piece that tied everything together.

Lush clearly already was too curious for her own good when it came to magic, but knowing now what she knew she was drawn to Xanadu hoping perhaps that she could be her protector should Zatanna make her way here to Oblivion. Lush began confiding in Xanadu how she wasnt sure which way to take or what she had to do, worries that plagued her mind concerning what had happened. In this Lush was bonding with Xanadu and knew that whatever she was hoping to get from her she would have to give something in return. She told Xanadu that she wanted to be her hands in the world while her vision was not yet there. Xanadu replied that Lush could not be her hands for she did not know whos hands they truly were to begin with. That was still a decision Lush had to make before she could consider rising to the potential she had.

I played at this for a while trying to figure out exactly where Lush would want her head to be at. Although she is very afraid of what would happen to the Lush she is now should she try and bring the Ros part of her back to being whole, Lushs moral compass and sense of justice strongly point to her flipping the switch and being the person she was meant to be and not the one programmed to be. What Zatanna did was wrong, not going back would mean she did something right and we cant let that stand. Still she was, and is, unsure. Shes grown as happy as one can get with their current situation at the end of the world. Shes gotten encouragement some incredible heroes that see the potential in her to continue to be a hero.

During a session where we were investigating Vs origins we ended up going from Glastobury to an ongoing battle and at the heart of it was a place that ended up taking the party to Camelot. We did not have a ton of time and we had a task at hand once Valda the Iron Maiden explained where we were, but we were in Xanadu, then Nimues old stomping grounds. Lushs mind was racing as they had to protect what they though would be King Arthurs resting place from invaders. Lush was tanking on the steps to his stone sarcophagus when things clicked for her. She announced herself as the Hand of Xanadu to these enemies and launched a pretty resourceful attack using these large spears that the surrounding statues were holding. However the dice know the true story, as in her moment of acceptance that it was okay for her to be Lush a devastating critical failure roll had Lush be the target of several of those spears all at once. Lush was skewered for nearly half her total health and she was -fucked up-. We stood our ground and won out with Lush claiming Guinveres dowry of a blade for her troubles and the assistance of the Shining Knight who actually occupied Arthurs tomb.

That sense of confidence being immediately dashed has hurt Lushs thought process a lot as far as accepting of just being Lush. Still we wont know for sure what Lush will do until she comes face to face with the woman that started this all to begin with.

Maybe not the frame of reality, but there is a frame in Lushs mind that Amanda Waller, our Checkmate leader, would rather have Lush hit the switch and become Ros. Her counter thought to that is that Xanadu, the matron of the Shadowpact, would rather she stay Lush. Two powerful women, mother figures in their own right to Lush, leading different factions having different visions for who our dear Cynthia Redford can and should be. Lushs personality and presence may be the same had Madame Xanadu not been here, but truly Xanadu is what has shaped the mind of whats left in Cynthias head.

All this said, Oblivion was not very welcoming to Lush at first. Oblivion was a space for heroes to escape the storm if they knew how to get in. For villains? There was Bewitched. Normally residing in Lushs backyard of LA, surely she would fit there like a glove. In fact they even stock her wine there. If Lush was given a choice she would identify and reside in Bewitched, at the very least from the times she experienced it. Now, maybe she would stick Oblivion itself out, but its been so long since we have been to Bewitched its hard to tell. The owner of Bewitched is Tannarak. Someone who also is not very fond of Zatanna, he is the one that gave Lush the urgency to go to Shadowcrest to seek out a scrying pool to have a weapon against Zatanna. What we found there was actually Misty though. We found Zatannas location before actually going to Shadowcrest, so without Tannaraks input we may leave Shadowcrest, and Misty, on the board for god knows how long. The story would be pretty different right now had Lush not poached the subject with him.

Im ranking dog, Im ranking dog! Artemis-2 is a clone of Data 7, but a clone that has put itself more in the younger phases of a pup than Data 7 would like to be now. A childlike wonder excitedly comes through where he wants to always be involved and have the spotlight on him like the real Artemis trying to make a video call. Artemis 2, Foal Fruntell, and Ros are a few of the ways Scar can have a bit of fun presenting the PCs if they were cranked up to 11 in a single personality trait. Each one thus far has been enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what other parallel characters we get to encounter as we continue.
