I still think this is one of the better looking JRPGs out there. Played it a few years ago and it looked like it never aged a day. It's as colorful as it is crisp.

You can find stuff relatively quickly, and it's almost always better than what you can buy. You collect tons of money throughout the game and it just sits there with nothing worth buying

it doesn't matter what i say, you're just going to tell me i'm wrong. but fuck, why not.

1. the wolf gameplay is very limited and not that fun. the only thing about it that i really enjoy is being able to run faster. the combat isn't great though, with your only actually good attacks being the targeted lunge and the midna insta-win thing. the targeted attack misses half the time, and the midna thing cheapens every encounter, so even the positives have negatives. at least you can talk to animals and spirits, but both those things don't really amount to much.
2. the music in these segments is dull and repetitive. both the exploration music and the combat music.
3. there are too many tears so the gameplay loop, when combined with the above, is just not enjoyable to me at all.
4. the bugs themselves are kind of annoying, sometimes hovering just out of range or moving out of range just as you start to dig them up. the boss bug is of course also very annoying, with half the fight being waiting and the other half just mashing a single button to win with absolutely zero challenge.
5. these segments are mandatory slogs between segments of you getting to do things you actually want to do in a zelda game, so each one feels more forced than the last. like fuck, we get the concept.
6. the non-bug enemies are very repetitive and annoying as well. fro0oO0Onk birds, floor squibbles and of course the shadow beasts, which are all just annoying encounters.
7. the reward for completing these segments is to just get to play the game normally again, which shows that even the game recognizes they are not fun.
now, i don't want to shit on them completely. thematically it was a cool idea, and they serve as nice introductions to new areas before you're allowed to really experience and enjoy them. and TPHD did mitigate some of this by shortening these sections a little, but i still dread them on every playthrough.

I can agree with some of this

But I still enjoyed my time with it.

About 10 years ago they had steak burritos, and boy was it great.

Man that was frustratingly difficult. I couldnt do the last few missions.

I 100% the mission mode, including the super boss (who was annoying AF)

I think I did everything except the main story on the highest difficulty. The mission mode ate away my motivation cuz holy shit it was repetitive
