I'd actually give it to Team Gordon if K. Rool's revive weren't going to carry the aftermath. However, guaranteed sneak attack with a gunship -- the idea of "using ship to fire cannons" being intuitive to a pirate like K Rool, so he wouldn't fuck it up -- has me think it clinches the aftermath of the 3v1.

Team Kredits

The main thing giving me pause is Kredits, actually. Guaranteed sneak attack with the gunship is no joke.

I really don't want to sleep on Jinx's arsenal either, even beyond the firelight bombs and super rocket. She's got a fully functional minigun besides, and I don't buy K Rool lasting very long against getting perforated by it, even with his bulk. Plus, she's all about guerrilla combat - the more mayhem, the better.

I absolutely don't buy the grav gun getting to ragdoll Samus or even snatch her helmet from her -- no showings in game to justify that from what I can recall. Still, closer than it looks. Slightly leaning toward team Gordon.

I hope I didn't miss someone else saying it because I'm running on zero sleep, but I think it's notable that we have given many mercs anti-paydown abilities, either to hose paydowns specifically or getting to do their shit for free if the enemy paid down.

Mercenaries 5 Changelog, Part 2:

Haurchefant Graystone: Swapping his removal interception ability to baseline and his removal immunity ability to upgrade. Haurchefant should be released early as inspiration to build a themed team, and as such should have an ability that is immediately useful instead of something that only works if you've already lost. He wasn't particularly useful in combat this time due to circumstances, but the threat of his terrain practically forced Kamek to spend KoaC to counter him.

Max Caulfield:The deciding factor in my match with Kanz, which is pretty powerful for a support with no active abilities. Clearly gathers enough respect to justify sometimes accidentally blowing up your team.

Vivi: Finally a properly thematic build for the boy. The original ability is powerful as always but far from backbreaking with proper counterplay, and we're eager to see how his limited life span affects team choices.

Gael: Pretty pleased with him. He's strong, he's tough, but he's not a blowout for Low. Getting free terrains is super powerful, of course, but he doesn't have anything at baseline besides battleworth. His upgrade ability is strong but still specific and far from "removal," so being able to use it for 0 AP (but still a genuine cost) is fine.

Estinien: No changes yet, but we need to test him without the dragon buddy and see how much respect he gathers. We're certainly uncertain if things are right with him yet. (Someone buy him for the test run!)

Zeratul: His build was practically unchanged from M4, and for good reason. Perfect.

Garrus: Carries strong respect, but he might be missing a certain something. We're keeping him on deck.

Raiden: One of the new(ish?) class of SOLOS mercs, but far less obnoxious than the likes of the Sparda Bros. We're happy where he is.

I better see that DRG pic in every Estinien match.

I can't think of any counterexamples either, although I would definitely argue that Persona rez can't rez from "actually dead" since anyone in your party who "dies" in Persona is set to 1 once the battle is over. It's much more of a "KO" status.

Aight, so here are some issues:

1) Zenos has no showings of him being able to just grab Vrtra's tail in human form "so long, gay Bowser" style. Crazy strong, sure, but he can't pull the shit Raiden pulls in MGR to Excelsius. If you're arguing he immediately turns into Shinryu instead of moving forward as a humanoid to savor the hunt, A) bullshit, and B) he's absolutely just flying the fuck out of there to get to the fight the fastest and leaving his "allies" behind, weak and feeble as they are.

2) If you really think there is a dearth of rocks or other mediocre projectiles to chuck and break the tetrakarn barriers without actually using lethal weapons in an active war zone, that argument's faith is so bad it's rotten.

3) Zero shot anyone besides Zenos gets out of the plaza, especially if he decides to go hunting in Shinryu form.

So I was still half-asleep when I was making that, and important point:

Zeratul has two chances to rewind time, up to 15 seconds each.

Even if he gets fooled by Tetrakarn once, he can Ctrl+Z that and, I don't know, chuck a rock or something to break the barrier before going in for the kill. It also keeps his place in space, so he can use it to get into places he normally wouldn't be able to.

Oh without a doubt. I'm just saying the skills hardly relate to each other.

Baking a delicious cake and grilling a $200 steak to perfection are both difficult, but I would not expect a master of one to be able to do the other, even though it's still "cooking food."

Why is everyone arguing that K. Rool having extremely cool guns equates to K. Rool being able to ue extremely cool guns as well as the original when, like I said earlier, he has never shot a "real" gun that we've ever seen.

He gets to be "competent" with the form, not "expert."

If you are so inclined to give Kamek the benefit of all of the doubts (because, as improbable as it is for his plan to work, it is very creative and entertaining), and Banjo gets close enough to try and take someone down...

Haurchefant's greatest character moment was him going "Get Down Mr. President" for the WoL and taking the L. Banjo will end up deleting a gray-haired elf boy in his best-cast scenario.

I think 30 seconds is shorter than you think it is, and I also think you're presuming my team just has their thumbs up their asses for that long? Yes, if everyone just sits still to give your team a shooting gallery instead of, er, exploring chambers, and your team can haul ass super fast? And K.Rool has Garrus's level of marksmanship with the kinds of guns he has never even seen, let alone practiced with? My man, shooting guns is difficult! If everything goes your way, maybe your argument has a shot. Far, far too many "ifs" for a reasonable voter.

You say "he's super injured" just... inherently? After Kirby gets cracked in half, stone form be damned? Aight.

I'd also posit that Vrtra, being a large fuckoff dragon, can just start making a way through. If so, he can gladly take point.

Gael is also capable of short-range teleportation (much to MANY DS3 players' dismay) and can get around the more obvious booby traps and get close to G.Rool. Sagat can fight him if Gael lets him, but Gael is way faster and has a lightning storm around him just for existing.

--Especially given nobody on his team knows this jump is even coming.

I didn't see the super dark magic burst on the cannon jump, so I figured it wasn't a full-blown DSD. That's fine if it is, though.

I think Kamek doesn't realize Vrtra shows up where Estinien does. If he thinks Kirby puts himself in a horrible 2v1 far, far away from Banjo, by all means.

Aight, despite my posts against Zenos before, I should note that my respect for him is crazy high.

"Do not let them be harmed or the badass warrior won't fight you" - well aigis has already been dolphin kicked half to death so that's not happening. the best selvaria can do at this point is try to hide the bodies

Because he lets them live after kicking their asses six ways to sunday, and the Warrior of Light, Gaius and Estinien can all actually take some of the beatings Zenos dishes out. No such luck for Kirby and a mauled Aegis IMO.

He doesn't even lay a finger on Gaius and Estinien, he gets interrupted by Garlean guards coming after them and gets annoyed at there being interference, so he just walks away.

Zenos listens to Fordola just fine. He will listen to compatriots he respects and who show no cowardice in the thrill of the hunt, which Selvaria qualifies for imo. If it were Kiryu or Tifa, not a chance.

I believe she really does consider him as such, it's part of her intrinsic on-purchase ability.

I'm going to need some more info on Kirby, I think, it's kind of hard to believe he can copy everything 100% but the last Kirby game I played was Kirby 64

A couple of points:

-Selvaria 100% believes this advice, the question is whether Zenos will listen to her about it. If so, I think Zenos will let the two go, per the advice. He has plenty of experience letting enemies go if it means he'll get a bigger fish to fry; that's his whole thing.

-Zenos does NOT become post-Hydaelyn Shinryu. Per the writeup, he becomes EX Trial Shinryu, which has been severely weakened by his clash with Omega. Still super powerful, don't get me wrong, but let's keep it real here.

-Kirby does NOT do "everything Zenos can do." Garleans are biologically top-tier races in FF14, having simply evolved as such at the cost of being magicless. Zenos underwent further body transformaton to get over the whole "magicless" thing and use the absolutely ginormous amount of aether at his disposal.

That might be the closest cake in history.

He's also at least clever enough to figure out which ideas would be best with what he has on hand. Combine that with unmatched hand-eye coordination to follow recipes exactly, and one yummy cake, coming right up.
