If your employer robbed you of tips there's multiple avenues you can take besides getting a group of people to leave bad yelp reviews.

Is it a corporate store? Have you talked to corporate?
Have you called the Department of Labor?
Have you talked about it with other employees and said something to the manager as a group?
This was a few years back prior to COVID. I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations is over, but thank you for your concern. How do I even show proof? There were no witnesses and the employers can claim that I miscalculated.

How does this tie in to Yelp or internet anonymity
Well I guess it's a call to action. "We should all take advantage of our online anonymity and the flaws in the legal system, by getting back at our former employers for screwing us over." - - or another rhetoric similar to that.

what do you suggest should be done
My former employer used to short me about $10-20 on my tips every night. I eventually found out because the numbers at the end of the night didn't match the ones I calculated in my head. I thought it was odd that it was off by that number range every time. I ended up quitting but I didn't raise any concern with upper management because I was afraid of retaliation. I think we should all start from there.

I don't mean just yelp. The idea that anyone can use a VPN and get away with libel on any platform, raises concern involving criminal intent. Yelp was just used as a familiar example to get my initial point across.

I'm more concerned about the difficulty involving holding someone accountable for libel.

If someone uses a proper VPN that doesnt store user data, i.e. Private Internet Access VPN, a subpoena wont help you.

it might suck if they are acting malicious, but VPNs are important for legitimate non-malicious people who just want to maintain privacy on the web
Right? That means if I had several people in different countries, I can get them to use the same VPN and write nasty things about my competitors in order to bring their stock price down, etc. Seems like it opens a whole new door into unethical collusion tactics.

How do you sue an individual on Yelp for libel when they're using a VPN and a pseudonym?

Seems like even if you subpoena Yelp for the user's info, there's not much information to gather besides IP and username, and even that can be fabricated. So how does a lawyer find the individual at all? Do you subpoena the VPN company to get the real IP, then subpoena the IP company to find out their actual name and address?

I'm actually amazed at how easily exploitable this is. Seems like the complicated legal process makes it easy for people with malicious intent to get away with no repercussions. That's not fair.

Assuming their singing talents are moderately good, wouldn't you think a doctor in philosophy can come up with great lyrics to a rap song? I'd love to hear lyrics about philosophers like John Locke and the meta physics of our universe. I can't help but feel like the lyrics to songs these days are way too redundant and talk about the same ol' tropes. Sure the beats are different but the core of the lyrics are all the same. Anybody else agree? Disagree?

Are bootcut jeans back in?

Why do those pants drag down past the shoes? Doesn't it dirty the jeans a lot faster? What happens when you walk on dirty concrete?
I used to think baggy pants that didn't fit you were an indication of hammy downs; often viewed with negative connotations. I could easily give this trend a try as I'm tired of tapering my pants, but would other people presume I'm cheap instead of fashionable?

I want to wear what I'm most comfortable with but unfortunately when it comes to the dating game and cold approach method, what you wear really contributes to a good first impression.

Unless it's for networking purposes or with the intent to court for marriage?

I'm currently entering my thirties and studying for my undergraduate. My biggest qualm is that I'm surrounded by people half my age and I can't seem to psyche myself to make new friends; mainly because I hold so many reservations on how little time I have left. It's just not fun talking about subjects that center around social media, trends around pop culture, and anything that appeals to youths that haven't had their prefrontal cortex fully developed yet. These are experiences I've gone through when I was their age; what's the point of me trying to re-experience the same thing again? It all seems pointless and I can't seem to go past that age bias. I'm at that point in my life where I need to start thinking about my future and what it means to be fully self-sufficient. I want to grow and be better than I was yesterday.

Anybody else going through the same phenomena? Is it pointless making friends with people much younger than you? I'd also appreciate any stories or insight that could help me change my viewpoint.

This is for a law class. Let me preface by saying I'm Asian and this guy is a skin head, ex-military from Norco, California. He's loud, abrasive, and he has an extremely unsettling stare when I look at him the eyes. It might have be done unconsciously, but there was definitely malice in his eyes when I first met him. He also did say several things that I found off putting. He referred to some of us as dirt bags--perhaps I misheard him saying the Wet****? Either way judging from his intonation, I knew it was a slur. I'm was absolutely furious when I heard him say that, but since the conversation was between him and another party, I don't have any cause to get him in trouble.

Could I make an statement to my professor that by staying in the same class as this guy, I'm triggered to the point of extreme homicidal ideation and I'm not sure if I can control my thoughts and actions? Will I get sent to a mental institution if I digress that to an educator? Should I just see this as a test of my patience and bear through it? This is the first time I've had to be in the same room as someone with racist agendas. Forgive me if I sound neurotic; it's because I highly am.

Just recently, I read on the news that someone did a drive-by shooting on a group of kids playing basketball in a rough neighborhood. Apparently the suspects are teenage gang members. It got me thinking, what causes people to act like this? Are they just innately evil; or is symptomatic of a bigger issue such as poor upbringing and lack of education? Or could it be idolizing pop culture icons that cite violence and gang activity to be cool?

Gang activity seems to be rising in rough, marginalized neighborhoods. It's uncommon to go a day without hearing about someone getting shot. I just don't get it. There is nothing cool about gang culture. For example my previous manager (he's about 45) was gloating about how he was in a gang and he spent his days in prison for assault. I felt disgusted. Wouldn't you normally feel embarrassed and ashamed for your wrong doing? He used to often brag about it, thinking that was some cool story that he could use to attract girls. What a fool I thought. You'd have to be the lowest form of scum to even think his behavior was acceptable, let alone admirable.

I don't get the U.S.

Most of the sitcoms I've seen tend to be too happy with most scenes being completely unrealistic. I can't act like Joey from friends and be like "how you doin?" Or I can't act like Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother and just randomly walk up to a girl and ask her out ever so casually. In the real world, people would probably be in contempt of me, without adhering to some type of social etiquette. So I kindly ask you guys, what is television show/movie that I can watch and take notes on?

  2. How did Darth Vader die from picking up Lord Sith and Luke didn't? Luke was clearly shocked for a greater length of period than Vader.
  3. Why did 3-CPO claim that it's not part of his program to be a deity but he ends up complying? That whole period where he didn't say anything until Han was about to be roasted, didn't make much sense to me.

I mean I wouldn't call that a plot hole. It's a retcon, definitely though.

Lucas had intended Luke's sibling to be an entirely new character that he would've revealed in the Sequel Trilogy (which at the time likely would have been made in the late 80s/early 90s) but his exhaustion of producing the OT, coupled with the stress of his divorce during production of RotJ caused him to rethink things and he made Leia his sister for simplicity's sake and tie everything up with RotJ
Interesting analysis. So if Luke and Leia were intended to be lovers, why did Lucas make that scene with Han making out with Leia in the Empire Strikes Back? Does this mean Lucas decided to change the script way before he made Rotj or was he intending some type of triangular lovers quarrel?

I noticed that in Return of the Jedi, when Luke revealed to Leia that they were related, she mentioned that somehow she always knew. If that's the case, why was there a scene in A New Hope where she was initially disgusted with Han Solo and kissed Luke when Han made advances? Was the original storyline intended for Luke and Leia to be lovers but the script was changed later? Now that I think about it, I just feel like the light theme of incest in Star Wars should have been considered as highly inappropriate. At the time I was 6 years old watching that movie; if I didn't know any better and had a sister, I just might have thought kissing family on the lips was okay.

Anybody else find plotholes or logical inconsistencies?

Which leads me to ask another question: Are you supposed to be looking straight up when sleeping flat on your back or can you tilt your head entirely so that your ear is touching your pillow?
