Mechanicus is pretty good (squad based tactical) but I haven't played it enough to get a good enough feel for it yet to say really how good it is or isn't. it was a bit too hard on the difficulty I was on, which I think was "normal".

Inquisitor was a bit fun even though I don't think I could say it's a good game.

dunno where you got that but E is the mass-energy in an object, which is proportionate to its mass. lower mass accelerates faster, yes. lower mass-energy accelerates faster, yes (same thing). E is not the energy put into the acceleration; that is already what F is. basically you just have a=Fc^2/mc^2 which is a=F/m, which is just F=ma rearranged.

I bought a few games during the autumn sale

I'm considering a new PC but not sure I want to spend that much money or do that much work

my nephew likes the whole Metroid and Mario series, starting from Metroid 1 and SMB1, especially Metroid. I'm not sure if he could still play the early ones much, but he beat Metroid 1 by himself at IIRC age 6-7?, and has beat all the main 5 Metroid games including Metroid Dread. (He's 10 atm).

it's annoying but it is kind of important. canadian government is going to make canadian youtube like canadian TV.

I got used to saying "anticlockwise" playing KSP. I can't remember 100% if it's actually in the game or not, but most orbits are anticlockwise. (It must be in the game or else I don't know where I'd have gotten it from.)

yes, anticlockwise is the british version. counterclockwise is a north-americanism.

me too. it's not the cold by itself; the cold air still has normal moisture %, just low moisture total (say 5/8 to make up some numbers).

then when you heat it up to warm your home, the moisture capacity increases, and the % drops way down (the same 5 but now out of 80 for more made up numbers), which is why the warmed air then does literally suck the moisture from your body to bring its % back up.

a humidifier is the solution to this problem although I have yet to get one myself.

I doubt you've trivialized the game as much as you say you have. maybe bleed is that OP, I dunno I rarely use it even in DS.

note that much of ER is not really very hard. many of the side bosses are extremely easy. there are just specific points that may be more challenging, particularly near the end. and certain parts will be harder or easier depending how you approach it.

the point was, not everyone values what you value. different values give different impressions of the same game.

why wouldn't you intentionally make it harder? that's what these kinds of games are about. (usually one would do that in an additional playthrough. if you steamroll your first playthrough, then you try something different next time.)

in effect what you're saying here is that you're playing a game whose major selling point is diversity of playstyle, but then you're complaining that you chose an unsatisfying playstyle. yes, it IS your responsibility in this kind of game to chose a playstyle that you enjoy. I didn't make a character I despise to start off, I focused on one of my favorite playstyles. this involves specifically choosing which gameplay mechanics to allow and disallow.

(I used miracles, shields, any armor, blunt weapons (usually I pick one weapon and stick with it the whole way unless something really sticks out as being better), with no summons of any kind (exception was made for Godskin Duo). I allowed myself to use frenzy magic (that crazy-fire stuff) too. I would disallow dark magic, though I can't recall if ER has any. I would use heavy armor if I could manage to get my character levelled the right way for it to be effective.)

Sekiro on the other hand does not really have varied playstyles; it's actually relatively shallow in that way (which is fine, it's a different kind of game). There's very little picking and choosing, it's mostly about you and your abilities as a player (ie: it's an action game). (There are the prosthetics and items so it's not 100%.)

what you seem to be saying is that you prefer to be forced to play a game a certain way, as long as that way is challenging, and that being forced in that way is what makes a game good?

your position seems to distill down to preferring "action" games to "role-playing" games. that's fine, and from that point of view Sekiro > ER would be true. but people who prefer RPGs to action games aren't going to agree with that.

(note that if you have indeed stumbled into a playstyle that trivializes the game, that may well be a problem with the game. I think we mostly doubt that you found something quite that extreme, but would welcome a demonstration.)

I don't know about higher, but you should absolutely be concerned about both of those things. Like if you're not worried about either one of them, that's bad.

it depends what the odds are. there are things of low enough odds that it's not sane to worry about them, like being hit by a meteor. but maybe the odds are high, I don't know.

though I guess this quickly turns into "what is a gun death", and biased and unbiased ways of counting gun deaths, etc.

hmmm, I think this is only the case in the early game. once your character gets going, this is much less of an issue.

and note that being two-shot is not necessarily bad in a game where you can beat bosses without taking a hit.

and it's an RPG, where it basically has dynamic difficulty (which is why this kind of game is so popular). any encounter, (except for the last ones), are only as hard as your character (and you) is/are weak.

there is only one boss fight in elden ring that has adds.

are you defining "adds" as specifically mobs added during the fight? because there are definitely more than one that start with extra mobs; not sure if we call those "adds". and there are a lot more bosses than that that are 2v1s or 3v1s.

Sekiro is too short and ER is too long. ER should give some of its content to Sekiro and then both games would be perfect.

isn't it really about the mixture of the two flavours? even if you have a pumpkin pie flavoured muffin, it has "whipped cream" inside it. the pumpkin flavour blends nicely with the whipped cream flavour.

that's not fair to House... Batman usually just has mary-sue levels of perception and puzzle solving.

House on the other hand has a way more realistically written "figuring stuff out" method where he's wrong all the time, often when he had *adamantly* believed himself correct, and actually wants others around him to challenge him on every last belief, because being wrong is really the only way to eventually be right.

that part of him always feels forced and out of place to me. I think I prefer him as not a particularly great detective, aside from having a lot of money/resources to work with, and knowing the right people (like Gordon). he's not a cop, and he doesn't want to be a cop; he does what they can't do but isn't a replacement for them.

Civ is starting to feel like FF where I'm completely disillusioned by the modern incarnation of the franchise
