I'm really tired of Sony's Third person over the Shoulder Story based games, most of their in house stuff has always been focused on cinematic but not as homogenous as it's been since TLOU, the original God of War games had a fantastic sense of scale and visual direction with solid cutscenes, now it's just endless hallways with dialogue for several minutes at a time, which works well for TLOU but feels out of place and wrong for fucking God of War.

Honestly, nothing until it outright became a genre. I hated how the first Dark Souls felt, clunky and slow, but I could appreciate the game's design and I even loved Nioh when that came out.

The problem is that it's existence pretty much outright killed the character action games like DMC and Ninja Gaiden. Devil May Cry 5 was literally the only game of its type that we got throughout the entire last generation, where every single other game that came out that had a claim of any kind to the action genre, was a freaking soulslike.

And then it's expanded to things like Wulong, where a game in that setting should appeal to me. The problem is the Soulslike core genre doesn't lend itself well to that setting at all. Armies were massive during that period and even platoons weren't going to be particularly small at all. Yet, here you are fighting lone peons or small groups(usually no larger than 5 at a time at most) for the majority of the combat, because that's the nature of these games and how they're designed.

Soulslike is fine on its own, but it's irreparably fucked the industry.

I usually hate the rogue like genre but Hades was an exception since there is progression as opposed to starting fresh each run making everything you do pointless since it doesn't carry over to future runs like most other games in the genre

Also it's a fantastic game as well

Also also for those saying there are no romance options haven't played enough of it but I won't say any further

Roguelike and Roguelite are a bit different, Roguelites often feature forms of perma-progresion like Hades, Dead Cells or Gunfire Reborn to name a few. Roguelikes don't but even some may still feature limited amounts of it.

Mechanicus is one of my favorties and made me enjoy the universe much more, I hate everything about Space Marines in the setting and they're a big reason I don't like the universe, they're boring as fuck and look like rejected childrens toys.

Dawn of War games are great old RTS games, but they're a little dated.

I've heard good things about Chaosgate but I don't much care about it due to the above reasons.

Yahtzee's runniing joke is he will nitpick every game he plays, even games he thinks are outstanding he will still nitpick and make a few jokes about the game.

His reviews are also never fully comprehensive he will talk about the game in general but not give a typical review. So again he is a joke reviewer it would be like claiming AVGN is a video game reviewer when he also rips on games for laughs. Yes, at the end of a review Yahtzee usually gives some general statement about if he liked the game or not but that is not the main point of the review.

I think Yahtzee tries to be a little more insightful though, watching his vids where he talks about the industry/game design give me the impression he's in touch with everything happening in the industry even if he comes off as a total ass in his main reveiws.

Echoing what everyone else is saying but yeah Persona games are like 70% Cutscenes/Dialogue adn they all take hours of tiem to get started adn even then you're still playing for what feels like a few minutes at a time. And yeah the games much like most Anime are aimed at Teenagers who have magnitudes more free time than an adult. As much as I loved the franchise as a kid I can't imagine getting into one now with much more limited time to play.

They didn't want to keep working on it anyway.

I see is as a positive thing maybe.

I mean even if they don't want to keep making RoR stuff, that's fine, but to randomly announce you sold the IP of the games that put you on the radar so to speak seems a bit strange.

There's also the fact Gearbox has been known to butcher the franchises they get, like DNF. And don't forget about all the controversy with Aliens Colonial Marines, they literally funneled people off from that to prioritize Borderlands while collecting full payment as if they were still working on it, and the false footage of Colonial Marines.

Gearbox is a terrible company, they will assuredly destroy the franchise, I expect a Claptrap DLC for RoR2 in the next year or RoR3 with Claptrap and all characters are voiced with obnoxious personalities.

Also yeah, get ready for Gearbox to make RoR3 with shitty meme humor and unlikable characters, maybe if it sells more than 2 copies they'll make a "Tales from Petrochor V" to go along with it.
