Big agree on this, the difficulty balances out with the flexibility of the Job System incredibly well.

Yeah, I'm gonna use it to reacquaint myself with the game. Then I can go PS4 or PC depending on where I'm at/what I want to pay for.

I know Heavensward is free for sure and I'm pretty sure I bought both Stormblood and Shadowbringers already. I've mostly just been putting off the subscription service, but it looks like it might be cheaper than when I first played?

I beat the base game back in 2019 and while I did enjoy it the game was exhausting, both mentally and financially.

So I took a break and haven't been back since. Which is a shame, I'd like to go through and play the expansions, but I totally agree with Ulti on MMO practices.

Like the game is 60 bucks, plus the expansions, plus the 12.99 a month. Then on top of that the game has really slow pacing to drag out those subscriptions. I shouldn't have to dread purchasing a game I enjoy playing.

I kinda expected Remake to have some fumbles, but I did largely enjoy it. My main complaint is how they botched Sephiroth.

They completely removed all of the intrigue associated with his character by having him pop up for no reason at the start of the game. On top of that he didn't need to be the final boss either, they should've just focused on Shinra as the villains.

Like ffs Sora doesn't even know who 90% of these characters are, despite a chunk of them being himself!

KH3 feels like it didn't know if it wanted to be a sequel to Kingdom Hearts II or to the franchise as a whole. Which left casual fans confused and hardcore fans dissatisfied. Then of course they released the 30 dollar apology DLC that everyone (myself included) gobbled up. The whole thing just left me very disappointed with the franchise in general.

I noticed this too while playing the Pixel Remaster recently. All the cryptic stuff makes it feel like you're actually on an adventure.

This is tough for me. I like VI the most, but the SNES version is already perfect and I consider these character sprites to be a slight downgrade from the original.

I think V gained the most from the PR though. Removing the grind for Job Points is pretty huge and basically fixes my only issue with the game.

The problem with XIII's combat is the lack of freedom. You're limited by the Crystarium for like 80% of the game and even after that, every battle still revolves around you just switching between filling the Break Gauge, healing and doing damage, which gets boring fast in a 40+ hour game.

They try to mix it up by forcing you to play as other characters, but that just makes you relearn the same thing, just with different characters.

I get different tastes and whatnot, but this is such a far cry from what most people want out of a Final Fantasy game, which is the ability to customize your party and try different tactics in a variety of different situations.
