I always find it funny how they wrote all these dark entries for gengar but all their depictions are the complete opposite of that. There's a recently dubbed poketoon with a gengar and it acts all friendly.

I think this is one of those things GameFreak isn't going to be able to cover up. Capturing Pokemon is pretty much ingrained in the series. They've tried to write off wild pokemon battles as this kind of play battle sort of thing that's more like a test in the past but Legends of Arceus has the playable character straight up capturing pokemon by force including doing things like sneakily capturing them or pelting with a heavy iron ball in the back of the head or throwing rotten food at them. The guy who was the head of writing for the OG anime said Pokemon were animals that are kept as slaves and his vision for a series finale was a sort of planet of the apes type of deal where pokemon rise up against their human masters.

Only with Pokmon. Humans don't naturally shrink so they're not Pokmon.

I'll say it again but it's an arbitrary definition. I mentioned earlier that I've seen people say a subset of anthropomorphic airplanes fall under the "furry" umbrella because the concept is tied to that subculture. Even going off raw traits doesn't really tell us anything, I've seen people say Centaurs and Mermaids and things of that nature don't count despite being literal half animals and characters like Ankha from Animal Crossing do despite Ankha barely having any cat traits aside from her different colored ears and tail.

I think it's really all very subjective and arbitrary. What one might consider as such might not fall under that umbrella for another. In fact I learned that there's even a subset of them that are into anthropomorphic planes so the label can be pretty wide. Generally once you start bringing up fictional or mythological creatures is when it starts to get really jumbled like with things like dragons and the like. But really, you're one one if you see yourself as one. I think the best case study for this is bronies who managed to retain a separate identity from furries to the point that the two sides initially hated each other even if the subject of MLP involved talking magical horses.

I'm all for fantasy relationships involving nonhuman characters of human intelligence. But I thought Ninetails was basically just a fox. (They look more like a dog to me, but I know they're based off of the kitsune legend.) The lack of human speech is still strikes me as something of a deterrent.

Anyway, I'm glad those fans are simply into blatant bestiality with a garden variety fox.

Ninetales is one of the few Pokmon that is said to be intelligent and can understand humans according to the pokedex. Most other Pokmon we don't get anything regarding their intelligence or if they can understand humans. There's hints that Pokmon can't understand humans all over the series but for the sake of story and gameplay they're written like they can.

I think pretty much every Pokmon does. The guy who was in charge of the original anime said animal characters have to be written in an anthropomorphic manner when it comes to story. Most Pokmon display some level of anthropomorphism, more so in the anime than the games but still at an OK level. So it just boils down if you think their place as wild creatures and pets in universe rather than people interferes with that. I just find it curious how popular quadraped Pokmon are, someone did the math from that pokesmash app and Vaporeon was like the 6th most smashable Pokmon in that site followed by Sylveon and Ninetales.

Reincarnation. Those are former spirits reborn as living creatures. In Pokmon ghost Pokmon are alive as any other Pokmon and aren't actual spirits. The anime and the games touch up on that. Plus their dex entries make it pretty straightforward that they're reborn beings.

No. Legends of Arceus made it fairly clear that the innate ability to shrink makes a Pokmon a Pokmon. In PLA the pokeballs trigger a Pokmon shrinking mechanism so it's a defining trait on what constitutes as a Pokmon. If you throw a Pokeball at a human it's not going to do anything because humans aren't Pokmon.

No because a lab is a real creature that doesn't exist in the Pokmon universe. Pokmon are just animals from a fictional universe, it's like finding life in other planets. I think if they're Iike the animals on Earth people would refer to them as animals even when they're from another planet and may look different.

In Pokmon humans are a unrelated group to Pokmon. I mean Arceus exists so it's like how creationist claim humans aren't animals except it's true here. That's actually not true. Masuda in an interview said Pokmon and Humans are two separate things. Plus humans don't have the innate ability to shrink which all Pokmon do.

To be fair those characters are designed to be very human-like so it's not really finding mouse attractive. If you stop to think about it she has more in common with humans than mice.

Well, according to pokesmash the most optimal team would be Gardevoir, Lopunny, Ditto, Zoroark, Delphox and Lucario.

Doesn't it depend on the style? I've seen Eastern artist draw this type of art with anime style characters but with non-human coloration basically what people call cat girls but with non-human coloration. At the same time your average anime character already has a feline styled face like having a dot nose and a side profile that looks more like a cats.

In most of the games Pokmon are "play fighting" with you in the wild. Basically testing you. That's not really the case in Legends of Arceus where you are actually capturing Pokmon by force but GameFreak did some things to cover their ass such as encouraging you to release Pokmon and the Pokmon leave you a present, a sort of no hard feelings action, and one NPC near the pastures telling you Pokmon want to be friendly with people.

This is what I like about Arceus. It's willing to not only portray Pokmon as more like living wild creatures but also incorporate that into the story. If lions had magical powers i don't doubt they would level any human settlement they come across.
