God, any tiny bit of sympathy you might have had gets washed away with this stupid shit. You're the topic creator and you can't even maintain interest in your own topic by replying to people?

I have replied to a LOT of posts itt. The argument that guy was trying to make had already been made irrelevant by the posts I pointed to.... it was like the only valid response.

And really, fuck you anyway. I don't care if she's half your age or twice so. Who the fuck makes a topic on this site asking for advice on whether to hang out with someone?

if this is all supposedly platonic then why do you keep emphasizing her attractiveness?
Idk probably a complex I have because when I was growing up, attractive people never wanted to be friends with me, then I had a glow-up and it makes me feel good when an attractive person shows interest in friendship with me.

It's a coworker he talks to in 6 minute increments a day, the coworker part especially is concerning but the fact they talk for literally single digit minutes per conversation is just... Christ.
For fuck's sake. Probably 30 minutes per week on average, seeing each other once or twice a week, if that. That means sometimes we just say hi, sometimes we talk for an hour. You can not seriously think that an average time means that it is split into identical increments.

I said we work on opposite shifts. We have a one hour overlap, IF she closes that day. So with a one-hour overlap, once or twice a week, if that.... 15-minute to one-hour conversations are a lot, and can be very heart-felt.

And even if it were literally 6 minutes per day every time....... a lot of conversation can happen in 6 minutes several days per week. People have definitely established close bonds with much less time. I guarantee someone has made a significant impression on you with less time before, and vice versa. This is exactly why as a general rule, I ignore you in this forum, and i know I'm far from alone on that.

You are likely feeling validated and good about yourself by having this younger, attractive woman interested in you, whether sexual or not. I get it, as I have heen there. But trust me, that this is unlikely to end well.
It's true. Your comments have spoken the loudest to me. I think I'll just find happiness in knowing she's my work bestie, and never spend time with her alone outside of work. See? This is why I needed this topic. Very productive response that showed me I was about to make an irrational decision out of emotion.

She does sound like she is interested. I had a female "bestie" with the same list. She was about 10 years younger. We had a complicated relationship, which eventually led to us briefly dating and she confessed to being in love with me the whole time. I then broke her heart because of a lot of issues. Be careful, my man.
Hm. I know I stated in the OP that one risk is she might get feelings for me. But I hadn't put much thought into the magnitude of how heart-broken she could become if that did happen. A young girl like that could end up being completely crushed by a situation like that, and me expressing an interest in hanging out with her might get her hopes up that something real can develop one day, when realistically, it can't.

I will extend a giant olive branch to everyone who has responded negatively to me in this topic, that I absolutely disagree that any portion of my list indicates that.

How often do girls that merely want platonic friendships say something like that?
Not often, but it happens -- especially if she doesn't think you would try to date her. In her case, it means she trusted me enough to say that without me getting the wrong idea.

K, I'll address this before I check out of this topic, since several users have responded to it.

I'm very aware of this concept. So I'll list a few of her behaviors that let me know she's not just nice to me to avoid awkwardness:
  • Calls me "bestie" (I know this doesn't actually mean actual best friend)
  • Will run from the opposite side of the building to greet me
  • Asks my opinion about her appearance often
  • Has told me I'm good-looking
  • Vents to me. Constantly. Seems super engaged when I vent to her as well
  • Asks me why i don't talk to her more
  • Added me on FB immediately after we met. All I did was introduce myself
  • Tells other people I'm a great guy
  • Always curious and invested about me
  • Face literally lights up every time she sees me. Not just a kind smile.

Because I'm going to next time I see her? Sorry, this question is a little odd. Think about a friend you hanged out with. You had a first time hanging out with them, yes? Then you must have had a time that you asked them to hang out, yes? Why had you not already asked them to hang out previously?

It's hard to ask someone of the opposite sex to hang out without it seeming like a date.

Anyway, thanks to those who participated productively in this topic. I needed some people to talk me through this, as it's not as black and white as some users are making it out to be. I'm gonna ask her, and if we do end up hanging out, I'm going to be very responsible about it, and most likely never go beyond friendship, even if she expresses an interest. I needed this topic to know the exact steps I would take.

Right. As I said in the OP, right now my goals with her are platonic. We love venting to each other and being around her takes the sting away from things we're going through. And despite what I said in post #8, if she tried to turn things sexual, I can see myself saying "No, I don't want to lose your friendship." But I can also see myself giving in. She is drop dead gorgeous, after all.

From being on CE, I know a large portion of you are against this, but I'm about to confess it all anyway. Feel welcome to judge, encourage, or discourage me.

I'm almost positive she'll agree to hanging out with me. Right now, I only have platonic intentions -- I would REALLY enjoy just having the company of this drop dead gorgeous girl. We're both going through stuff right now, and we feel so comfortable venting to each other. Our whole day gets brighter every time we see each other.

But I know if we spend enough time together, one of us will develop feelings. If not me, then her. And there's another red flag here besides the age difference. She just got checked out of a mental hospital. For the sake of us bonding... or anything else that may happen in the future, that doesn't bother me at all. BUT people will already say I'm taking advantage/manipulating her because of the age difference. Add her mental health condition to the equation..... that's not gonna make me look good.

Anyway, there's the situation. I'm not dead set that I will ask her to hang out yet, but I know I want to. Whatever kind of person that makes me.

To me, 2nd row, 2nd column makes most sense, because it's just C moved over a half step. 1st column, first row looks appealing because it's not a bar chord, but it's an inversion, so... you think it would be easier to learn 2nd row, 1st column, though? I hate the B bar chord, and it's just the same thing on the 4th fret, but if i need to learn B anyway, I guess that's a better avenue than the bar chord starting on the 1st fret.

For anyone who's curious, I've spent a little over a year on guitar, about 2 and a half months on piano. I think I'm already better at piano. It's such a straight-forward instrument and easy to learn. I had been using it previously to teach myself melodies quickly then translate them to my guitar, but only recently decided to start learning to play it forreal.

Before 2 days ago, the only ones I could go to by memory if you asked me, were:

C major
F major
G major

C minor
F minor
G minor
A minor

Then yesterday I decided I would learn all the rest of the natural majors and minors, so I did.

Then today I learned all the flat/sharp majors and minors.

Think I'll start learning all the diminished 7ths tomorrow.

All in all I'd say I've probably spent about 4 hours practicing them. If you called one out, I could play it pretty quickly. Idk how good I'd be at playing them in a song, though. I can't wait to see how many doors will be open to me now for being able to learn and play new things. I'm still a slow AF sight reader. Need to learn/practice more of that. I can only recognize single notes at a time so far.
