The poll only gave two options though (I know, not the best way to measure this) - "can prevent" and "have to accept", so in choosing one of two extremes, I don't see how the latter says anything about "reducing"

its a shitty way of measuring it, clearly. but what i'm saying is that you have to "accept" that some mass shootings will occur. you cannot prevent all mass shootings.

explain how? the point made was that was have to accept that mass shootings are something that will happen. we can (and should) attempt to minimize them, but inevitably this is something that cannot be stopped completely. You can choose to not "accept" that, but there's no way - short of eradicating every gun in existence and preventing them from ever being created again - of making mass shooting "extinct" (in which case, people would still commit mass murder in other ways)
