Went into Caelid today. Apparently my DPS is still far too low for Caelid dragons, but I managed Fort Gael and Gael tunnel at least. Although I had to go back to double greatswords for the Magma Wyrm, whip DPS just didn't cut it. At least I'm speccing pretty heavily into FAI so if I decide to pivot there are a bunch of strong weapons I can go to.

I'm not sure what the distinction is between then and now, if there is one, but they made a statement recently (after the invasion).

Japan recently took advantage of the whole Ukraine situation and declared those islands occupied territory. I suppose this is the Russian response. Not really a fan of either side in this conflict since the native Ainu people don't get their say either way.

Decided to go into Caelid next. Not sure if I should actually do Altus Plateau first, but the Ranni questline suggested it and now here we are. I hate poison swamps.

Is there a way to change your equiped Ashes of War? Or do I just gotta unequip it off hand to start using the AoW on the right hand?

For example, I use seppuku with my left hand katana and then I want to use RoB's Ashe of War. Would I have to unequip the left hand to use RoB's AoW?

You could two-hand the weapon you wanna use briefly.

There are some fights that can be cheesed if you have a good ranged option. I'm particularly happy I could chuck glintstone pebbles at one particular fight. But a bow with a big bunch of arrows should be enough I guess.

I respecced to faith instead of INT but it was a chore since I started as prisoner. Then I beelined for the Magma Whip Candlestick and now I finally have an ~ish Castlevania Belmont build with double whips. I just need a good/fitting sword to top it off. Or I might do an axe, or dagger. Any ideas? Also right now I'm doing the Kaiden armor with a headband to get a sort of Trevor Belmont from the show type of look, not sure if there are better options.

Yeah I was thinking of trying to do the rune farming thing but I suppose I won't be able to do it before I get there "the real way".

I've heard about that quest. You have to invade someone else, but you can just immediately disconnect. The quest doesn't require you actually do anything.

So yesterday I did the double Iron Virgin encounter and it was probably the worst fight I've had so far in this game. I had to completely cheese it.

Finished Rennala. Kinda think she was a bit too easy.

They are, but the prices of them have recently gone through the roof where I live. 3 dollars for the trash sauces, and 6 dollars for the mediocre sauces. Meanwhile I can spend 14-15 dollars at Costco for good canned tomatoes and go to a Bulk food place and spend maybe 3 bucks on seasonings. Honestly, I can't wait to move away from my province to a place that has more readily available spices to try new things.

Those are pretty rough prices. My point is just that it's fine to get pre-made sauces. Cooking elitism is very unnecessary.

Also TC, another nice life hack tomato sauce for you: Buy small tomatoes of some sort like cherry tomatoes. Slice them in half, throw them in a pan with lots of olive oil. Season however you want, I recommend salt and pepper, garlic, and getting a pot of fresh basil because it grows like heck and is very easy to keep alive. Just water it a lot. Let the tomatoes get hot in the frying pan, squish them when they're soft enough, and that will create an excellent, simple pasta sauce. Throw in pasta cooked to al dente (i.e., ~1-2 mins less than what it says on the pack), throw in a bit of pasta water and let the pasta finish in the sauce. Remember that the pasta water should have salt in it, so don't oversalt the sauce before that. You can add whatever mushrooms or proteins you want to this, but it's fine on its own.

When I was farming my imp swords they also dropped some masks that are pretty decent. They're heavy, but in return give good protection and poise, and a bonus stat point. I have the cat version (+2 to INT) and the wolf version (+2 to END, which offsets the weight a little). They're fun, and you look really dumb using them :)

I've pretty much given up on Tomato sauces and just use canned San Marzanos with a bunch of spices added into it. San Marzanos by themselves just taste better than pre-bottled sauces.

I've been experimenting with spices, so far I like Chipotle, Sugar, Salt, Pepper and a bit of Cumin. Sort of tastes like a Spanish style sauce when mixed with white rice. Got to add a tiny bit of sugar otherwise the Chipotle spice just burns your mouth off.

This is great! I'd say this is the next step for someone who wants to get into cooking. Messing around with your own tomato sauce isn't difficult, and it's pretty hard to get it dead wrong. But the canned and seasoned ones are totally fine as well.

I would never judge someone based on their cooking skill but dude...tomato sauce is EASY. Peel, slice, dice tomatoes (or buy them in a can). Saute onions. Add salt and water as needed. Use olive oil. Throw on ground beef or whichever meat you're using, low heat. Add basil if you have some, eventually add ground red pepper and those tomatoes.

Let simmer for an hour while checking consistency. I said tomato sauce but this is basically the easiest version of Bolognese you can make.

And all of a sudden your 20 min pasta meal takes an hour to prepare.

Sounds good TC. Do the mushrooms first, and you can keep cooking them until the moisture is gone. Canned tomato sauce is great. Enjoy your dish.

Yeah! Although I think generally when you're dual wielding, the weapon art of the RH weapon goes to L2, except in specific circumstances like the Parry dagger. That's a bit annoying actually. I'd like to choose which art goes to L2, or let me use the other with like triangle+L2 or something.

you can do that with powerstancing too though, thanks to ashes of war and all that. i mentioned curved swords with bleed and frost, absolutely disgusting combo, and they'd be applied at the same time, to boot, unlike swinging one, then the other. you might be able to alternate each weapon for a fluid combo with a variety of hitboxes that could be unique, since weapons do have different movesets, but i don't know for sure

Yeah I agree. I was thinking more like if you want a very specific build for personal reasons it's technically possible and not exactly awful. Just you don't get any added benefit. The use case would be something like, say you want to create a character that resembles Castlevania as much as possible. Or some other gimmick. But that's pretty much it I guess.

That's pretty much what happened here. Virtanen seems pretty guilty, and there were several corroborating testimonies from other alleged victims. Issue is that Wallin is also powerful, and a narcissistic TERF, so regardless of how plausible the allegations are, her character makes things more muddled.

I tried it and it's not bad. For me it was difficult because rapiers don't stagger enemies a lot. But you get a lot of hits in fast which greatly increases rapier damage.

I'm curious, what's the benefit to dual wielding? The bosses I've seen so far, you wouldn't usually have enough time to attack with both weapons regardless.

Powerstancing light weapons like daggers or curved swords adds tons of hits to your combo, which means you can proc bleed etc really fast.

Rivers of Blood is every bit as OP as SoNaF was. I throw my sign up at Ash Leyndell and while it does pretty much the same damage on Godfrey/Elden Beast it absolutely demolished Gideon in one full L2 combo. Didn't even give him a chance to flask. RoB is definitely gonna get nerfed next patch, probably Eleonora's Poleblade too.

Is it common for Soulsborne games to get several balance patches during their lifetime? I wish they'd leave game balance alone aside from fixing bugs.

It should be noted that Cissi Wallin did not get punished for false rape allegations. There was a trial, Virtanen was found not guilty (or charges were dropped, I can't remember), and that was that. Then, several years later, she went on social media and publically named him as rapist, knowing full well that it could constitute libel even if he had been found guilty. I didn't read the NYT story but the point here is that she didn't get fined for false rape allegations, she got fined for libel long after the rape case was legally settled, and libel laws in Sweden are weird.

Finally found my second Forked Greatsword, that took a solid couple hours. I low-key suspect they increased a lot of drop rates in the patch, not just smithing stones. Now I'll just grind some more to upgrade the swords to high enough, then I'll be doing massive bleed+freeze damage to anything that's standing still enough.

The consent law is fairly new, and passed long after the events of this case.

IIRC, it would have been considered slander (or libel, I forget which is which), even if the allegations were true. Which, considering what a sleazeball Virtanen is, they probably are. Swedish libel laws are a bit weird. One of our parliamentary party leaders was guilty of slander even though what she said was true. BL made topics about it at the time. Fredrik Virtanen is a disgusting man and there are receipts of him trying to chat up underage girls on Facebook.

That said, Cissi Wallin is a bit of a circus act herself, so I wouldn't want to touch either side of this case with a ten foot pole.

HTML isn't programming. It is a markup language, which is a lot more limited in what it actually does. Both Python and JavaScript are perfectly fine for web development.

HTML isn't really programming. It's a mark-up language, essentially telling a browser how to display text. If you wanna get into coding, check out something like Python or JavaScript. If you're very patient, are in a structured environment like a course, or are interested in low level computer stuff, check out C or C++

Spent like an hour trying to farm Forked Greatswords to no success. I'll keep trying tomorrow. Stupid imps. At least the helmets they drop are good.
