Its a very bad decision.

Things I love about these writeups:

-Suprak just referring to the heroic male lead as Clay from 13 Reasons Why which is also how I think of him.

-Multiple people pointing out how deranged it is that Dont Breathe 2 exists and the old man is the good guy.

I knew I should have said Dont Breathe. It was conspicuously absent from plasmas odds.

Also theres been a lot of talk of which Flanagan film should have been on this list and I think that Ouija: Origin of Evil has the strongest case for being the most improved sequel of all-time.

Though in non-horror films apparently Top Gun: Maverick is up there for that!

Theres s sequel thats better than its original on this list!

Malignant summary: what if Basket Case but kung-fu.

Well if were just posting random stuff to get to 500 I just watched Malignant and it might be the dumbest movie Ive ever enjoyed.

I will counter that and say that A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is really good and while it lacks in story it is more the kind of movie you just soak in the atmosphere of.

I might move Creep up one spot though my 23 has not been yet.

Liberals turning conservatives later in life is a thing.

Because they accumulate wealth. Elon Musk was always wealthy. Also that really only applies to economic beliefs anyway. Furthermore it stopped being true because our generation stopped getting wealthier as they got older.

Oof this is the first one I'll say you all got wrong

I liked this movie! I gave it a 3/5 but its a high 3. The issue is that its ALMOST a terrific film but has some frustrating and unnecessary flaws holding it back. If Sinister got made today it would absolutely be a top-tier horror since by-and-large the genre has moved past the conventions that gave it trouble.

I thought A Quiet Place Part II was every bit as good as the original, honestly. Especially the prologue which really just embarrasses the opening of Bird Box. And thats a bit harsh on It Chapter 2 also, it was not nearly as good as the first but its more that I wish some things had been done differently. Im glad a competent adaptation of the adult portion of the book exists.

That book is a masterpiece (other than that one terrible, terrible part) by the way. I appreciate that we got an adaptation that understood it beyond scary alien clown.

Not just that but also what you said about the impacts of violence. You see it in Laurie and how she terrorises her daughter then acts like Michael at the end, the doctor and if is implied by the final shot of the granddaughter with the knife which goes nowhere in the terrible sequel.

Anyway Im going to guess A Quiet Place because some of the earlier comments about Michael Bay as a producer make me worry that were in for some terrible opinions. I hope Im wrong!

I really like Halloween 2018, it is easily the second best Halloween film and that middle portion is up there with anything in the original. And yeah I alluded to it earlier but it does Terrifier much better than Terrifier, they even have the same Jack OLantern kill.

With Insidious I really do think age holds it back. There was a really interesting story there and good performances but the scares dont work by todays standards. I remember when it was new there was so much hype around it being incredibly scary but it no longer is. With that said are the sequels worth watching?

I doubt Happy Death Day has that much love, so I will retract my guess and go with Sinister instead which may be more divisive.

The Breadwinner was from Irish, Canadian and Hungarian people, all of them white LOL

I was going to say that it is mainly Irish, however it does have a South Asian and Middle Eastern cast and Egyptian producers so this isnt quite accurate.

Also I am glad we are into good films now, I have no ill will towards any remaining films, and the big gap after the bottom five means Im not that bothered if a film places low. It is notable that very few people disliked this one despite its relatively low ranking. I suspect that will be the standard going forward.

Speaking of Argento I both want to see Vortex and dont as it sounds like an enormous bummer.

Im not going to bash anybodys opinions or interpretations because its all entirely subjective so I dont think anybodys bad for liking it or thinking that it isnt misogynistic, but just to clear some things up:

I dont think the film is promoting violence against women, I just think its asking the audience to luxuriate in it unironically, which is a contrast with American Psycho which is extremely self-critical.

Also I was going to mention the body count of men as a defence. The difference is the violence against them isnt gendered in the way it is against the female characters. If he were ripping their penises off Lily style that would be very different. Now, you obviously got more out of it than just liking the violence and saw it differently so I wont say youre wrong, that is the beauty of film. Im just explaining why I (and others going off of the writeups) saw it that way. What I will say however, is that there is another film on this list that does what you describe much better. We will get to that!

This movie was absolutely dreadful and I cannot believe that anybody ranked it highly here. Film like all artistic mediums is subjective, but this I have to question the value anybody could find in it. Especially since theres a film on this list that does very similar things that is actually good. Also, even if you are able to look past the sheer misogyny and excessive violence for no reason, the acting, writing, and directing are mostly terrible so there isnt even that. I feel that the first act looked like it was veering into camp classic territory but then it just wound up as torture porn but what if it hated women and was boring after that. I was watching some of these with my partner and I am incredibly glad I decided to watch this one alone.
