It's just for the notification system. Originally I was doing @ on 200+ users (on CE). For 10 per post, 2 posts per minute, it took 10 minutes to post . Once the weekly Epic games started coming in, I needed a new system

If you subscribe to the board, it pings you each time. ER started helping a year or two ago, in case I was AFK
