The plots are super basic "find the macguffin to beat the evil wizard" fare and Nintendo puts zero effort into developing the lore. Never understood people who were invested in the timeline because it's obvious Nintendo treats it as an afterthought. >_>

That all said, some of the individual worlds are neat. Most of Termina is neat.

Was this the first "push all the celebrities" episode? Maybe it was ok, at the time, but it detracts from the story in retrospect.
For a celeb episode, though, it's one of the better ones. Lots of great one-liners, and not overly forced (really makes sense why the celebs are there), but portent of things to come.

IIRC, this was the one some of the cast protested about. I read in Mike Reiss's book Julie Kavner threatened to quit because of it was coming off as celebrity worship
