Last winter a guy in an area near me found a female-type Lazuli Bunting. But no one could relocate it. I wasn't able to get out and look for it for a couple weeks after the initial finding. But I did and I knew the area it was found in pretty well, so I gave it my best.

Well a couple hours into it I was working the treelines and holy fuck almighty there it was, a female passerina bunting. But it was gone seconds after I found it and I could not relocate it. I reported it to a skeptical response.

I came back a few days later for another round. I would not give up. Hours in I was working a swale when a small bird flew and landed on top of some thorns. There it was. I got my camera on it immediately and snapped a couple of pictures. I did it. I got it. I found the bird no one else could find.

Then I looked at the pics and sent them to others. It was....an indigo bunting. There were only three ever accepted records of January indigo buntings in my state. What are the odds. Damn birds!!!!

We had an Indigo Bunting here at our feeder but it got chased away by the bully Grackles

Common Grackles are considered a near-threatened species now, believe it or not.

Indigo Buntings are cool as fuck though and I'm glad there's still so many of them around. Learn their song and you will know when they are around during the breeding season :)

Because they always had abortion to fall back on. Their biggest weapon just got expended.

I'm not predicting a massive blue wave but the impending red wave people thought would happen probably won't be as dramatic.

The GOP will win gains in the house and likely flip control of the Senate but if they don't use 2023 and 2024 wisely, their base will grow increasingly disillusioned and the element they've invited into the party will cause a schism.

You think Crenshaw got attacked because the party is rock solid?

The GOP base supports Trump, who embodies these peoples' supposed "values" less than maybe anyone else. 40 years ago they needed Reagan to put some sort of dignified face on all this, now they don't. They just don't care anymore and will do whatever it takes to preserve a racist theocracy.

Everyone said this exact same shit about the tea party, how they were "eating themselves" etc but it just ended up successfully dragging the already far-right wing party even further right.

Liberals really don't have the faintest fucking grasp of politics

There is a world of difference between their base and the single issue voters that only ever cared about abortion.

It's like getting a band of mercenaries to actually join your military, sure some might but once the appeal (the pay in the mercs case) is gone, they have no reason to keep fighting (voting in the single issue voters case)

The issue isn't over. They will push for a federal ban, then push for crackdowns on illegal abortions, then push for harsher punishments, etc. These people are never finished.

People have been predicting these unpopular decisions will "Backfire" on the far-right for decades now.

It's never happened in any meaningful way. Maybe they have short term losses in the house and senate but they get them right back.

I really hope this bites them in November. There are a truly astonishing number of single issue voters who only care about abortion, and "vote for us so abortion stays illegal" just isn't as compelling a message as "vote for us to make abortion illegal."

Unlikely, because their base actually supports and is galvanized by this shit.

They will keep complaining until there's a federal ban which they'll get, and then complain more that we aren't arresting enough people for it, then complain the people arrested for it aren't getting punished enough, and so on and so on.

We already still have slavery in the form of the prison-industrial complex. Maybe not the officialized chattel slavery but still very much forced labor and it's a huge business. Big reason we have all these mass incarceration policies and by far the world's largest prison population.

The 13th amendment more or less even says "Slavery's illegal. Except when it's not"

I've never actually beaten Sonic 2's end boss without cheating. <_<

I'll make that my challenge now.

One thing I never knew was that you could hit him from behind as long as you didn't touch that flame. It always took me forever to fight him. I would get impatient sometimes and just learn to do a perfect jump and hit him right in his balls where he was vulnerable. Sped up the fight but was real risky and could get you killed with one slight error

Crazy that stage had you fight two bosses and didn't give you even a single ring.

KH is different though as it's a running series and not separate games.

Again FF7 was the ultimate example of breaking hugely from the previous formula. Completely modern/futuristic setting complete with global warming allegory, 3D, new magic system, only 3 party members, etc. Believe it or not there were a lot of fans back then who hated what they did with FF7 and though the series should have "stuck with its roots" etc. So I really do understand that line of thinking. Not that I trust modern Square to make anything on par with that today. But I'm fine with doing something completely new and different.

They took a huge risk with FF7 of alienating the entire fanbase but it's what ended up turning FF from just a popular JRPG series to *the* JRPG series.

When youre thinking about the future of the Final Fantasy franchise, you have to aim at that generation of players that have never touched a Final Fantasy before, Yoshida said in an interview with The Washington Post.

I feel like this has been the goal since after 10 and its never worked, and will likely continue to not work. Just make something to excite the fans you do have first.

To be fair original FF7 was probably the best example of this of any FF, and it was the most successful ever and to this day.
