Reach level six in the monk class and your unarmed strikes count as magical damage which allows you to punch ghosts.

4th for Pathfinder, but I don't know if monks can get the ability to overcome a ghost's incorporeal damage resistance.

So you can punch a ghost for half damage.

Unless something is actually chasing you, jogging speed doesn't really matter.

Go with what works and go faster if it starts getting too easy.
