Or maybe Palestine should stop setting the launch sites for the rockets Iron Dome intercepts up in people's front yards. But of course, the point of that is so civilians die, because when Israel reasonably says "we're not gonna let a rocket site shoot at us," and blows it and the house it's in front of up, people can screech about how Israel doesn't care about civilians, ignoring that if the other side cared, they wouldn't set their rockets up in places that not just risk, but almost assure civilian casualties in the first place.

The push for "clean energy" is stupid, but not out of any climate change concerns. Nuclear is just plain better and will produce more Kilowatts per dollar spent than a wind or solar farm will.

I also take issue with calling hydroelectric "clean" since the most common way to do it is to dam up a river which fundamentally alters a major part of the ecosystem.

REally? Because the end result looks like "we pay a bunch of money to protect you, and in exchange we get to park some tanks here." The average NATO country is a speed bump. Any real war would look similar to the Axis lines in WWII, the US is doing all the real fighting, France and the UK are doing... Something not helpful, and the Netherlands is playing meat shields on the flank with their one Corps.

China is not a US Ally, they'll pretend to be until they get their military modernized and find a way to not be economically dependent on selling to us. If the US is so concerned about world affairs, the thing to do would be to knock China down before they can actually challenge us. But that runs counter to my "return to isolation" view point.

What do we actually GET from NATO besides basing rights? No seriously, we foot the bill, and a bunch of tiny countries put up on Corps worth of people, and then if Russia looks at them they wave Article 9 around and warn them the US will save their ass. Fuck that. Slash the budget, and while we're at it, fold the Marine Corps into the Army, we don't need two ground forces that are doing basically the same mission right now.

The best way to reduce deficit spending is to tax the fuck out of the rich so that your spending is no longer deficit spending.

I'm more in favor of withdrawing from NATO, repealing the law that insists we have 11 Aircraft carriers, slashing military funding, and going back to minding our own business like we did before WWI and II. Instead of increasing revenue, slash funding. Unfortunately the biggest slashes, like cutting pay, would hurt the members of Congress so they'll never happen.

It's easier to think of the Great LAkes as a collection of freshwater seas than it is to think of them as lakes really. Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area, third by volume. And to really drive the point home, contains the largest island on a lake, on an island, on a lake in the world.
