you can complain all you want tbh but everyone that actually pays attention can tell that while biden was never a particularly eloquent speaker he was dramatically better four or five years ago than he is now. when the decline became apparent was when the reporting changed from a thing they occasionally brought up like a novelty when he occasionally misspoke and became a wholesale defense for whatever is going on with him

slowly making my way through caelid now.

one thing this game has done for me for the first time since DS1 (and maybe for the first time in like a couple decades in an open world game period) is make me feel like I'm on some sort of organically unfolding adventure, and its totally making me geek out. Defeating the initial bad guy, hearing a rumor from an NPC about the northeast being all fucked up and venturing into it running into all sorts of mishaps along the way has been very immersive.

So the game wouldn't be easier if the enemies had less health? I played the first Dark Souls for around 40 hours and I can't fathom how you think that wouldn't be easier.

the majority of things in dark souls you fight will die in just a few hits anyway if you've been upgrading your weapons and stats, the difficulty comes from the fact that they can also deal a lot of damage to you. naturally its different when you're fighting like a three story high giant monster or something, but those are the exception and they are usually positioned for you to just fight it by itself

replaying the first dark souls when it came out on switch awhile ago was a pretty eye opening experience for me because i realized like 50% of the difficulty people run into comes from freaking out because they're playing dark souls and not just walking in and beating stuff to death. it gives you a ton of stuff to upgrade yourself very fast, and a lot of enemies especially in the first half of the game can be really easily stunlocked and backstabbed into oblivion. even the first few bosses up until you get to quelaag are made of tissue paper if you're paying attention to what you're doing

i didn't hate it, but in the end i didn't really love it either? the game was balanced around it well, but at the same time it made finding new weapons dramatically less interesting to me because i would find a cool sword and then be reminded i was probably only going to have it for like 3-4 fights at the most.

it didnt break the game or make it bad for me but i feel like i would have enjoyed it even more with well thought out weapon progression. finding cool treasure is half the fun of an open world and i dont feel like theres a ton of benefit to making it more ephemeral

the birds arent that bad imo. if you are using a shield you can kill them really easy by waiting for them to do their big swoop attack and then block counter them, it will take off a big chunk of their health and also ground them

(admittedly i also found this out by accidentally doing it while being attacked and being reminded that was actually a mechanic in the game lol)

Played for about 4 hours and not sure how to feel about it yet

I was kind of bored to be honest. Came out of the tutorial cave and tried to see if I could get to an island. Couldn't. The beach didn't really have anything except a shop guy and a horse jump thing I couldn't use yet.

Got my but kicked by the gold guy on the gold horse.

Then managed to find 2 giants pulling a big wagon. Killed them because they just kinda stood still and got a great axe out of it >__>

I just hate how I feel compelled to stealth every enemy because who knows if it's some badass or if they'll call over 12 others.

theres a cave on the beach that leads to the island if you're talking about where i think you mean.

and the enemies ive seen thus far that summon others look distinct. like the godrick knights that do it for instance have a big herald's horn on their belt for example
