Mega Man 2 is the earliest one I recall thinking was really cool, even tho there isn't much to it.

The first time I was truly blown away by an intro was Metal Gear Solid 2. That was the first time I ever felt like I was playing a movie. I was hooked from that intro. I hadn't played the first Metal Gear, didn't play 1 until after I beat 2.

My parents slept in separate rooms, but they don't like each other. I would never not sleep in the same room as my wife.

The game shits the bed after the capital. It's all the same enemies you already fought and the same open world layouts you have already figured out, except in the snow. Or a bunch of OP enemies you have already fought clumped together in Haligtree. Crumbling Azula is fine aside from all the dragons.

My second run I basically sprinted to all the bosses post capital. And only a few of them are not awful.

I'd say start with The Stand. It's long but it's King's best book.

Then move on to The Dark Tower series.

The Stand is one of his best, but one of his worst endings. Which is pretty remarkable considering most of his endings are pretty bad.

Valley of Defilement is the greatest poison level in any game ever. All the poison swamps even in the following Souls games are just casual and redundant by comparison.
